Izzet back in the summer

Recommended Posts

Whether Muzzy Izzet would do more harm than good playing in a Leicester shirt again, has to be proven.

What I am concerned about the most is the amount of injuries he's had in the last season. Hardly ever played for Brum and thus never in the position to truly display his skills.

A fully fit Muzzy could do some wonders here, I'm sure of that.

You do have to remember ( although granted Muzzy had a harder time injuries wise then Guppy ) Muzzy is five years younger then Guppy :ermm: When Guppy was Muzzys age he was still winning things at Celtic. So he aint exactly as far over the preverbeale hill as Steve was when he joined us for the second time. And I dont think he was that bad any way

In regards to Muzzy coming back I dont think its beyond the relms of reality but I think it is just anothor back track to the O'Neil years . Too many peope want to hold on to what he had then, this leads to people suggeesting silly thing like MON as our possible new manager <_< when there is 0 chances of that happening even if he's wife has recovered. He's a top manager FFS. Neil Lennon also, ( which I'll admit to being in favour of ) as well as people suggesting Muzzy could possible return if Brum go down, all show we haven't let go of the late nineties.

I think its time we looked foward instead of back, Im fed up of thinking back to how good we used to be, it's time to look foward and think how good we can be if we hold on to some of the young talent we have and make some decent purchases in the summer ( which don't nessacerily have to be Leicester legends  )

Just my opinion dude, I didnt say he was a total waster when he came back, I just dont think he was as good as id hoped he would be as I thought he was fantastic for us the first time around. As I said, maybe I set my standards too high. Fair point about age though, not forgetting that Gups was rather late coming into professional football as was Claridge.

There would be bigger teams with more money than us that would want him if he became available. You'd only hope that he perhaps wasn't that bothered about money but if I was him and he was thinking about his future prospects then he should try and earn as much money as he can in the remaining years he has, that's unless he's already been very careful with his money and he's saved enough for him to live the life he wants after he retires.

He's still only just turned 31 hasn't he? Reaching his peak if he gets himself fit and alongside Wesolowski I think watching Leicester would be classed as a porn movie in some quarters. Great for attracting a new set of fans and tapping in to an untouched market though!!!

Izzet is a legend, he'd be welcome back at any stage. My memories of the chap will never change.

Muz is still is still a quality player when fit, but it's hard to imagine him coming back in the summer. He went to Brum on a free transfer with his reutation at it's peak and is probably on someswhere between 20 and 30 grand a week. Even if he was released on a free transfer we would struggle to find a fraction of that kind of money once the parachute payments have stopped.

Izzet back at leicester would be a dream come true and if brum get relegated then there is a distinct possibility of this happening.

I remember bumping in to him in the shires about 3 years ago and he said that if it was up to him he would stay at leicester for the rest of his career. This was when borough were sniffing around.

Eventually he had to go because the financial state the club were in after another relegation meant it was financially wrong to keep him here i dont think he wanted to go mind you.

Izzet was and will always be a legend

I think I'm the only person in the world who didn't think Gupps was too bad when he came back.

Remember this was in the Premiership, just because Muz hasn't shone in the last year or two it doesn't mean he can't do so in our league.

You aren't the only one, I thought Guppy did very well when he came back. He could still deliver a great cross and he also got stuck in a lot more.

yeah so do I, he set up goals against Boro, everton, spurs and quite a lot more and I'm sure he was another who fell out with Micky Adams but he did well in the few games he played IMO

Gups wasn't too bad but didn't get on well with MA.

Izzet's contract with B'ham runs to summer 2007. he has only made about 20 appearences since moving there in summer 2004. He is apparently over his serious knee injury after surgury, but is not a regular first choice. he is 29.

If he leaves a year early B'ham will want something, they have been paying his wages every month and they have had 20 games out of him. I can't see him coming to Leicester City.

we could get him for about 100k if they come down, he is still better then any central midfielder we have even after then injuries.

i dont think it will happen as i doubt brum will let him go as the have butt and jarosic on loan (which wont be renewed) and dunn, pennant and upson to sell so they wouldnt be that desperate to offload someone who could/would lead them on a promtion push.

would love him back here though, ready made skipper

Centre Midfield

In place of who??? Wesolowski and Hughes is the future. We need to go fowards, not backwards.

With all the rumours we'll have Lennon and Izzet in centre midfield next season. Both players are to old.

Youth is the answer.

Even if the brummies come down we wont get him. He's a player Birmingham would want to keep for the chumpionship. He would get them out of this division. Even if they did sell him i would expect he'd go to someone like Reading or anothe promoted team.

If Birmingham go down, which lets face it, is currently quite likely, they are going to have some BIG financial problems. They have a lot of players on mid table wages and will have budgeted to finish mid table. If they can offload a injury prone under used aging midfielder to save a few quid then they will have no choice but to let him go. And at this stage in his career, his only other choices are really a lower prem club, or Leicester, which we all know he loves through and through.

Its certainly not beyond reason, but I won't hold my breath

You're forgetting the fact that Birmingham are bankrolled by David Gold and David Sullivan, with those two in charge, they'll never be in serious financial trouble.

I seriously doubt Muzzy will be coming back, would love to see it though
