Luke_Leicester_Lad Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 All the build up to the game in here. Predictions aswell. Cheers
Ricey Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 England fans will expect about 3-0, in reality it will be a shaky 2-1 win.
Master Fox Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 2-1 to Ecuador I'm afraid. England's time is coming to end with international football.
MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 3-1 England, but Ecuador will score first. England off to a sleepy start, then a great half-time speech by Prince Sven ("If you don't improve, I'll be your coach forever") and Beckham scores three goals from set pieces, including a banana corner.
Monk Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 Sven to sub off Beckham for Lennon and Crouch for Walcott and we run Ecuador into the ground for the last half an hour and score after 67, 72, and 75 minutes to win when we will be under the cosh for the whole first half. Wishful thinking?

Wishful thinking? I would call it more optimistic and achievable rather than wishful.....
Monk Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 Indeed Shush mr Valderamma I damn well want to be naive.... Reality - we score a lucky / deflected goal after 19 minutes and switch to an agressive 4-5-1 formation after 50 minutes. We then clear several chances off the line... Beckham does loads of big boots to nowhere, Lampard has 10 shots well over the bar, Joe cole will never pass the ball to Ashley Cole's Overlap, Ashley cole will be massively out of position. HARGREAVES SCORES A HATRICK (sorry had to liven it up a bit...)

Take out the Hargreaves hat-trick and you're somewhere near what is more likely to happen. 0-0 after extra time England lose on penalties
Ric Flair Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 I honestly can't tell how it's going to go on saturday. Judging on previous games we will get an unconvincing win, but it might all come together. I don't like the prospect of seeing Rooney play upfront on his own unless he's been instructed not to drop deep othwerwise we'll get found out easily and there will be problems. I'm going for a 2-0 win and hoping for a steady to good performance in each half with no calamities.

Beckham? i doubt that very much, the most over-rated player the world has ever seen. If we want to win the world cup we need players that are exciting on the ball and who go past people on the wings. Cant wait till Sven leaves, because then maybe mcClaren will have the balls to drop him and play Lennon or Shaun Wright Phillips, if he is playing first team football and back to his best.

I wasn't that serious, btw. Irony, my friend, irony. Just make sure you pay the referee in advance in order to prevent him to whistle against you. After today's game between Germany and Sweden, I'd be careful with the man in black...
Daggers Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Mexico showed the way - play for the badge and not for the photo ops!
Benji Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 I think we will step up our game tomorrow, we may have a poor start but start but should win by a comfortable 2 goal margin... 3-1
Ultra Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 England fans will expect about 3-0, in reality it will be a shaky 2-1 win. Spot on..
breadandcheese Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 I don't like the prospect of seeing Rooney play upfront on his own unless he's been instructed not to drop deep othwerwise we'll get found out easily and there will be problems. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it strange to play a half-fit Rooney in one of the hardest positions in the game, lone frontman. That's a hell of a lot of running for a half-fit player, particularly one who likes to drop slightly deeper. Should we find ourselves chasing a game, he will be too knackered come the second half to affect anything. Agreeing with most, I think we should scrape an unconvincing 1-0 or 2-0 win, but wouldn't be surprised to see the Ecuadorians sneak it. Hargreaves at right-back is a no in my book, particularly when comparing his performances against Belarus at fullback and Sweden as defensive midfielder. Carrick, according to Sven after the Belarus game is not a holding midfielder and never was. Now he suddenly is. I still don't think he has the defensive qualities to play the position of sitting in front of the back four. Great player but not to protect the back four. In short I think this 4-1-4-1 will not work. When Sven sets them up as this, it really becomes this with many straight lines across the park and little flexibility. The 4-5-1 formation works well for teams like Chelsea or Bolton because it is fluid and can quickly be changed into a 4-3-3 when attacking. Nothing from England has suggested they can play with this fluidity (Joe Cole apart), so I think we will struggle to break Ecuador down, playing with the straight line across midfield that has failed us in the group stages.
The People's Hero Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 I predict we will concede a goal.. but will progress. Very tight game with lots of worrying moments but England to win it late on.
Parsons Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 1-0 Crouch to score from a corner on the 81st minitue
shen Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 Same as yesterday, a 1-1 draw, where Lampard will score in extratime
Luke_Leicester_Lad Posted 25 June 2006 Author Posted 25 June 2006 Same as yesterday, a 1-1 draw, where Lampard will score in extratime And no penalties please, for the sake of the country
Guest seanfox778 Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 anyone know what colour shirt we will be wearing. england to win on penalties after 1-1 draw
Luke_Leicester_Lad Posted 25 June 2006 Author Posted 25 June 2006 anyone know what colour shirt we will be wearing.england to win on penalties after 1-1 draw Im guessing White because they play in yellow, but we could also play in red.
Guest Gist Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 I think we will win about 2-1 with Gerrard to score, I don't think it will be convincing like I'm sure a lot of people think, Ecuador should not be taken lightly but I think we will go through just not as comfortable as the majority of people think.
