Jay Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 well he can hold is head up high since getting his chance he has got better and better and has proved everyone wrong!! he really gave his all today chased everything tackled hard a really passionate performance for someone has taken so much stick well done that man!! it makes me wonder though why Sven has neglected to play him in that role for the past 5 years, actually that doesn't surprise me

He never gave up, was always running from box to box and deserves all the praise he gets. Also just seeing him at the end crying, also shown that he has great passion for his country. Dont get me wrong there were some other good performances by other players like Lennon and Terry, but he was head and shoulders above the rest. Well done Hargreaves.

Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham were so shit it was unbelivable I'm not always this negative, but you have to admit that was the worst world cup performance we have ever produced, and it should have been the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apart from a few minutes of madness in a relatively meaningless game against Sweden, our defence and goalkeeper were ok too. Oh, and Joe Cole scored a good goal. The rest of the squad got lost somewhere in the Svenisphere.

He was an absolute star in that match, easily the best player on the pitch. Outstanding would be an understatment. He done himself and the country proud, he was immense and never deserved to be on the losing team. Very good penalty also. He should be proud and hold his head high. He has been superb in the last 3 games and I would gladly put him in centre midfield ahead of the overrated Lampard. Top marks Owen Hargreaves.

You can't win can you? I don't think Lampard's overrated - he's just been a square peg in a round hole this past month.
