Logan, 2. Maybury, 22. Sylla, 29. Porter & 19. O'Grady This formation allows quite a few things, firstly Kenton can get forward as he likes and be a pest, secondly it allows lots of overlapping with Low, Stearman, Hammond, Hume, Hughes and Kenton all being able to manouver themselves forward and back in their respective positions. Hammond's pace would be helpful behind Fryatt and alongside Hume to liven things up while the back four is still pretty solid.

filbertway Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 Henderson Stearman mccarthy kisnorbo kenton Low williams hughes/johnson hume O grady Fryatt I think humes pace and dribbling ability could be used to good effect on the wing, and he can cut inside on his right and curl some into the far corner. Phube Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 Logan Stearman McCarthy Kisnorbo Kenton J-Low Williams Hughes (Wesolowski if fit) My Gran (couldn't be any worse than Tiatto, and she'd dead!!) Hume Fryatt But my special tactic will be to pass to the other players in our team , and also ban McCarthy and Stearman from kicking balls further than 10 metres unless a defensive clearence!! Thracian Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 My real team: Hendersoon; Stearman, McCarthy, Kisnorbo, Sheehan; Low, Hughes, Johnson (Weso if fit), Porter; O'Grady, Fryatt. subs: Maybury, Kenton, Williams, Hume, Dodds.
bald reynard Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 Why oh why can't we play Hume in the position he came to us in - left side of midfield. It would solve a long standing problem, help Hume get back to some sort of form and generate (ie by dropping Tiatto) a place up front for O'Grady; a 'target man' and an ideal foil for Fryatt ? Yeh, I think we should try him out on the left wing, he's got great ability with the ball at his feet and would be a better answer than tiatto. It's positive. Accomodates another good player. I've heard worse ideas.

davieG Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 Why do so many people want to play Kenton at left back and other players out of position? CL was slated widely for this but so many people keep posting teams with players out of position.

Mark Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 Right then, Sheehan to come in at left back. Just take a look at Southamptons Gareth Bale, two goals in two games, both from free kicks has helped them get off to a great start. Being a free kick specialist himself and the only natural left back at the club, it makes perfect sense. It's about time we gave him a chance to make the place his own instead of sticking players out of position there every game. ---------------- Henderson -Kenton - McCarthy - Kisnorbo - Sheehan -Stearman - Williams - Weso ----------------------------------------- Hume ------------- Fryatt - O'Grady Subs: Logan, Johnson, Hughes, Hammond, Gradel

Mark Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 I would have low instead of stearman. When Stearman has the license to attack he can be very effective. Low will be much more useful as a sub.

Mark Posted 9 August 2006 Share Posted 9 August 2006 Not in your squad he won't True, I wouldn't have him in the 16 as I don't rely on a 20 minute debut performance to judge a player on. From what I've seen from Gradel he is very direct, pacey, and full of running, we need more of those players. Unpredictable but you can't have the lot at this level :pinch:

Can't be any worse than maybury.
Ultra Posted 9 August 2006 Author Share Posted 9 August 2006 A lot of ideas there. Certainly more than we saw on the pitch last night! Can't understand why folk want to keep Kenton at left-back though. We have enough issues with players out of their natural roles as it is. Also remember that Johnson only played about half a dozen games for West Brom last season so is still some way short of match fitness. He probably wouldn't have started if Wesolowski had been fit. But Josh Low MUST start. He's the only player to date who has put ANY crosses in for the front two.

Can't be any worse than maybury. He's not! Certainly as a winger. I wouldn't want to mark the kid. Your eyes would be going back and forth like clackers. Maybury's okay as a full-back but can only dream of having Gradel's skills as a wing wizard.
