The Mercury will probably know a lot more about it than we do and they'll probably know that the deal is almost too goo to turn down even without Mandaric writing in blood what his long term intentions are with the balti pies and fertilizer. So they are just drilling out article after article making sure the board know exactly what's at stake here. I find it quite unlikely that The Mercury wuld take up this style of reporting if the bid had a high chance of being rejected. I know Anderson makes a fool out of himself quite regularly but for once he has actually started to write what the majority of the fans are thinking. Before this all broke out, i'd have expected The Mercury to be just like the club and The Foxes Trust, by playing down the bid and being very cautious about it. Anderson probably knows Milan is odds on to take over so he's getting on the bandwago so he gets a nice starting relationship with the clubs new owner.

Didnt say who/what or anythig else, you can't ecpect the BBC to give us more than 2 seconds now can you!!! If you tune in at 17:30 (not sure if there will be a News Update then as there is a 15 minute long one at 17:45) then you will hear it again.
step Posted 15 November 2006 Posted 15 November 2006 I've had the same thought... to be honest the tone from the Merc and from others around the club and the stark contrast between what MM is offering and what we'll have if things stay the same makes me think that there really is no way the offer could be rejected, I'm not counting on there not being an act of monumental stupidity from the board or shareholders - but i dont see how it could happen... whats more most of the comments bout the board being not very kean have come from folks on here reading alot into comments or inferances from what the likes of Taylor have been saying. I'm hopful... but to be honest I'm trying not to think about it too much I agree The board and shareholders would not be very popular with the fans if they did not accept MM offer. So as long as the offer is somewhere near what they paid for the club, they have to accept mandrics offer.

This is effectively a way of getting money into the club through equity (investment) rather than by loans (as Mandaric is proposing). It's financially much lower risk for the club - and thus makes any additional borrowing much more supportable. It will be interesting to see how many are interested. If they get a commitment of around £3 million, they could easily borrow an extra £3million and thus put in more than Mandaric is likely to, at much lower risk.
