Ultra Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 it'll be nice entering the media, and actually reading about are own club in the national newspapers Like it was during the La Manga episodes?
davieG Posted 6 October 2006 Author Posted 6 October 2006 Curbishley is on record as saying he won't go to a club outside the Premiership. So that's ANOTHER myth killed! I heard him in an interview saying he wouldn't dismiss the idea. Not that I'm keen on him.
Ultra Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 A good source (my mum) told me Milan was on radio leicester and had said his quotes were taken out of context. He had not spoken to Leicester. Surely not? The staff reporters at the Mercury are persons universally recognised as being of the utmost integrity (the highly renowned football correspondent Mr Anderson being the most notable example). Can we REALLY believe they would stoop so low?
Ultra Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Against it or not, any true board member should be looking out for what’s best for the club, and any major investment would be just that. Oops silly me, this is the Leicester’s board we are talking about and I forgot they are TW@TS. They have at least put money into the club. Something Saint Milan has NEVER done!
TornadoShaunUK Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 I know Curbs ruled himself out of the WBA post but did he actually rule himself out of the Leeds and Norwich jobs at any point aswell then..?

The staff reporters at the Mercury are persons universally recognised as being of the utmost integrity (the highly renowned football correspondent Mr Anderson being the most notable example). Can we REALLY believe they would stoop so low? It wasn't the mercury report... i'm refering to the story the was in the Portsmouth local news. The mercury just copied that report.
fox123 Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 I wonder if the club will throw in free packets of mm's to get the kids down The future's bright, The future's Mandaric
Swedging Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Huh? Mandaric plays down Foxes link Former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric insists reports saying there is a 50-50 chance of him buying Leicester are wide of the mark. Mandaric recently cut his ties with Pompey and insists he needs some time away from football. He told BBC Radio Leicester: "I am ten days away from my emotional departure from Portsmouth and I am not making any strong commitments anywhere. "But I do have tremendous respect for Leicester and you never know." Mandaric added: "I would still like to be away for football for a little bit longer than I am. "I have never indicated I had any dialogue with Leicester people or was close to any kind of deal." He admitted: "Leicester are a very interesting club and in future if I were to come back in football I would not ignore it. "But I'm not saying I am anywhere close to acquring Leicester City - I have not had any conversation with the people from the football club. He added: "I am football mad and love the game and the English game - I have tremendous experience and memories with Portsmouth."
Ultra Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 From the original article (which strangely was NOT lifted by the Mockery) I understand there isn't much love between Pompey and Millwall fans, so I couldn't go there.' There's even less love between sailors and us. Indeed some Pompey fans have gone so far as to say they hate FOXES more than Southampton! Of course the roots of this antipathy go back way before his time with them. But if he does get round to making a bid, I'm sure his former admirers will explain it to him in no uncertain terms!

I didn't see too much evidence of this "tremendous respect" a few seasons back when we were in administration and MM was among those branding us "cheats" and demanding that the league took points off us. It's obvious a lot of people have forgotten about that. But I haven't, and I bet our current board and shareholders haven't either..
Babylon Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 The reaction of Pompey fans to Mandaric's next step provides his only doubts. He said: 'If I have any second thoughts, it's because I wonder if Pompey fans would forgive me. 'But there's nothing to forgive. I have done the job for the club's wonderful supporters. So I should be free to go somewhere else. He also says that... which to me means, he'd understand if they got upset. But tuff titty because look what I did for you.
TornadoShaunUK Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 At the end of the day, if he did take over here he would be looking to make a profit on his input and that means making us a successful attractive club which is what we all want isn't it? I for one am totally for an investment takeover by Mandaric.

I for one am totally for an investment takeover by Mandaric. Agree. Just look at what he achieved at portsmouth. They were a smaller club than what we are now so why can't it work?
Thracian Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 I know what. There's going to be some very disappointed Leicester fans if nothing happens.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Do you actually have a point Ultra are you just throwing pointless statements around left right and centre for a larf. We stick with the current board we will cease to exist before long.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 I know what. There's going to be some very disappointed Leicester fans if nothing happens. I dunno, we haven't had much go for us recently. I've come 2 expect dissapointment.
sackmycook Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 the coont better buy after all this cobblers or they'll be hunting me for war crimes.
lcfc_jme Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 I dunno, we haven't had much go for us recently. I've come 2 expect dissapointment. ditto. I think I posted somewhere earlier in this thread saying how I'd love MM to come in and take us over, so we could compete, but I felt it was just speculation keeping him in the limelight so when he comes back all the talk is about him and how he "had links with a number of clubs but his heart was set on (clubs name)" while we're left in the lurch. Hopefully this isn't the case, but I'm not too sure.
Foxes_Trust Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 If it's the article I read, he was talking about Brum's ticket prices, and he said he didn't know what City charged! Of course, being a journo, he doesn't have to shell out for his tickets. Gary Silke isn't a "journalist" full time, he runs the Fox Fanzine & gets no free tickets
Foxes_Trust Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 I'm sure he will, but lets face it, if he brings in some players who can play to complement our extremely talented youngsters, and a decent manager, then Fans will pay more. If they can afford it !! £30 per game is beyond many people
lcfc_jme Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 If they can afford it !! £30 per game is beyond many people Aye it is, especially for Championship games Maybe if we were a decent Premiership side and competing at a high level, people would be more prepared to pay higher prices
Daggers Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Have I missed something this week while I've been out being busy? Has something of note happened because I sure as shit don't see it from the half-assed articles saying nothing. ...50/50? Where in the realm of nothing does that belong?!
Fleckney Fox Posted 7 October 2006 Posted 7 October 2006 Mandaric will save this club from years of doing nothing: We need to sing his name against Southampton, get the banners out.
