Chrysalis Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 And why are you so blatantly and unreservedly in favour? There is no such thing as something for nothing in matters of this nature. Mandaric - if he ever even arrives - may be good for the club but, equally he may be a disaster. At this point I don't know which. Despite all the criticism, this club appears to be going the right way and, while cash flow might not always be as we'd want it, we seem asset-rich to me and perfectly well able to evolve without selling our soul to some foreign mercenary with no spiritual connection to the club if we choose not to. Why any chairman should wish to ignore a fans representative body I don't know - any more than I know why you'd think it better that he did. I've had my criticisms of the FT and have given reasons for them so they can respond if they see fit. But they are the supporters body we have. They have the clubs interests at heart, by definition, and to me it is far better they exist than not. And, frankly, so far, I'd rather trust their collective viewpoint than yours unless of course, you wish to explain your views in greater detail so they can be chewed over rationally. Cos I'm damned if I fancy playing pass-the-parcel with our football club without good reason and without "due diligence" as the phrase goes. Especially as we seem to be doing fine as it is. If you looked at it from an unbiased view you wouldnt be putting it at equal risk. Check out his history.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 I imagine he'll stick with him for a while, but it'll be a couple of months at best if Kelly doesn't buck his ideas up tactics wise. After the way he's been watching Portsmouth play attacking football the past 6-7 years, once he sees his new team playing with 7-8 defenders, to contain the opposition each match Kelly will be out on his rear. I'd prefer things to work out with Kelly and for him to take us up, but TBH I don't even have any confidence in him bringing in the required attack minded players when given the funds. I think Kelly would have no qualms about putting on more strikers. Every time he bemoans the lack of cash in an interview he says "it's not like we can just go out and sign another striker tomorrow." If given a few more trusty forwards, surely RK wouldn't hesitate in playing attacking football? Now that the goal and defenders are taken care of you can see him tweaking with the midfield. I could be wrong, and I see where you're coming from with regards to Milan's experience with Portsmouth, but surely Kelly would drool at the prospect of being given a premiership-grade Gudjonsson.
Ryanside Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 wooooo, its on the BBC webby again today, altho the source is the daily mirror, but thats 2 days in a row! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/g...ers/6097732.stm im putting the champers in the fridge.....!!
Bluefoxtim Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 Well statement from the club later today, that will be the make or break I think.......oohhhh
davieG Posted 30 October 2006 Author Posted 30 October 2006 Still sitting on the fence mind 2) Our understanding is that the club are currently in the position of having several potential options of new investment to consider I'd be interested in knowing who they are at what they have to offer!
eaststandtom Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 Well statement from the club later today, that will be the make or break I think.......oohhhh is this on the radio??? when is this??? where did you get the info from? cheers
davieG Posted 30 October 2006 Author Posted 30 October 2006 is this on the radio??? It will be a press statement - one assumes that radio will be the quickest to deliver it to the public. when is this??? Today where did you get the info from? Read the previous posts cheers
Louise Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 The story in The Mirror: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html Nothing new though. TD was interviewed on RL this morning but all he said was 'there will be a statement later today'.
Jon the Hat Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 Here is the latest 1) The club will be releasing a statement tomorrow 2) Our understanding is that the club are currently in the position of having several potential options of new investment to consider 3) The club would not be drawn as to whether one of those was MM or not (draw your own conclusions) Therefore early days, but potentially exciting ones if more money is coming into the club one way or another. And for information the journalist who published the MM story is known for having the direct route to him, so it's appearance would have been "sanctioned". Thanks FT, appreciaite that statement. Suddenly it seems to be real! I would suggest that given the popular support for a possbile Mandaric Bid you might suggest to the board that they have a very clear set of criteria which they can present to the fans should this not be the option which is chosen.
Louise Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 Damn slow LCFC, it's all going to happen while I'm in boring lectures. Oh well, jinx in advance.
Thracian Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 I might have my reservations but it's nothing if not an interesting and exciting development.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 I'll be in bed when the news is delivered... hopefully I'll wake up to a bowl of Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes and some positive news on the Mandaric front!
Jon the Hat Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 Does anyone know what time the Statement will be?
Shipman Out Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 Was indeed. Upper tier, Y5, Wales shirt, totally ghetto hat. The Wales shirt is quality i love the V collar! I've got a good feeling about Milan!
Shipman Out Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 By the way IF there are any doubters still a bit worried about Milan (WHY get a grip!!! ahem) then please remember, when Milan has finished he will sell his stake to a safe pair of hands look at all the clubs he has invested in. I think he is a top man a real fans man and will help give us an identity again i tried not to think about it to much in case it doesnt happen but im getting proper excited again! Milan theres only one Milan
