Just been to see Back to the Future 2 at the Vue. Didn't even know it was in cinemas until this afternoon! My favourite trilogy of all time. First time seeing it on the big screen too. Hope they release 3 into cinemas next year for its 35th anniversary (which was the reason for 2's rerelease)

Recently watched Watcher on Netflix - very tense and enjoyable.

Still can't figure out what I thought of Joker 2. I'm still fascinated with the choices they made; literally none of them seemed to pay off. I can't wait to hear about the fallout behind the scenes.

Oh, and:

Matt Damon was cast recently too.

Rumours are that it's a vampire flick set in the 1920s.

2026 is going to be epic.

Looking forward to this if the rumours are true.   Heard it was supposed to be a horror too.   I enjoyed the time period for The Prestige so this should be great.

What else would be out in 2026?

Unfortunately they're just rumours and apparently been shot down by some journalists. Knowing Nolan he likes to be as secretive as possible, sometimes all the way up to release - nobody knew what Inception was about until the first trailer but even then, it was so vague that nobody quite knew what they were in stall for. I remember some screenwriting blogs at the time were posting fake reviews of what they thought the script was about... Even so, considering he's cast the worst actor alive for keeping things secret, I don't think we'll find out for a while.

Untitled Daniels project (Swiss Army Man, Everything Everywhere All At Once)

Untitled Lee Cronin project (Hole in the Ground, Evil Dead Rise)

Project Hail Mary (adaptation of same author as The Martian, dir by Lord & Miller who did the Jump Street movies and most of Rogue One till they were sacked)

Franchise films:

Avatar 3 (late December 2025)

Scream 7

I'm sure some will be moved around but it's looking like a *fairly busy* year.

With it being the spooky season, been watching a few horror movies from my collection,  decided to watch  Split Second after watching Them, sure it's corny with some terrible dialogue but the cast carry the film, loved it when it first came out on the big screen, still love it today, a true cult classic.

Spider-Man 4 (or 10 depending on your point of view) is now slated to come out a week after Nolan's project (Sony have to start production by September 2025 and release it in theatres by 2027 due to their deal with Marvel or the rights will revert back)

Jumanji 4 also confirmed to be going into production with December 11th release date, though I suspect that might be moved to 2027.

Hauer in The Hitcher is one of the great film villains.

I'm glad it's been reappraised in recent years. Such an uncanny atmosphere. Mark Isham's score is an all time great IMO.

I went into Smile 2 completely blind. I'm a big horror fan, but knew absolutely nothing about it and fully expected a shit more-of-the-same rehash of the first one.

A rare horror sequel that is better than the original IMO.
