Louise Posted 30 September 2006 Posted 30 September 2006 Sheehan played 66 minutes in a 4-0 away loss to Walsall, he went off when the score was 2-0, the only comment I could find: Sheehan 6 Generally did ok. Must be about time for him to come back/extend his loan now.
lcfc_jme Posted 30 September 2006 Posted 30 September 2006 I'd say let him extend it for another month or so
bigneville Posted 30 September 2006 Posted 30 September 2006 I'd say let him extend it for another month or so Agreed....
Thracian Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 Waste of time him coming back here. Kelly will be out himself before he drops Nils. The lad should ask to join Mansfield and start trying to build his career. There's no sense him waiting til Nils goes back to the Premiership cos there's no telling how long that will be. I'm inclined to think Sheehan will go the way of so many others. Okay, he didn't help himself, but what a waste.

Mansfield conceded two courtesy of goalkeeping blunders and Sheehan almost equalised the first one with a blistering free-kick which was brilliantly saved before he went off and Mansfield were then taken apart. Overall it sounds as if he's been MoM once and Joe Average the rest of the time although he's clearly been given a lot of the dead ball kicking responsibilities. He'll certainly be reasonably matchfit again now.
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 well if that was why he was sent its mission accomplished and he would surely have more confidence in his own ability now he's been playing competitive football
Thracian Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 well if that was why he was sent its mission accomplished and he would surely have more confidence in his own ability now he's been playing competitive football I agree but I just don't see any point in him returning to city because there's no way Kelly's going to leave Nils out and with the bench being overcrowded and very little alternative football, he'll just be twiddling his thumbs.

I'd keep him out on loan as long as possible this season and play him the whole of next season after NEJ goes to Real Madrid in the summer.

If only. Nils will stay with Rob for as long as he can. He knows where his bread's buttered. He'll put Real or Chelsea on hold ....!

Depends how hard up the club really is. If they find it in their accounts to offer NEJ a contract when he's such a non-essential/highly-paid member of the squad and let Sheehan go instead then I'll be first in line with a Sack The Board chant at home game number one.

He's been over rated for years, that bloke and the fact he thinks he can play in the prem shows he beleives his own hype. I dont think he will be playing for us next season, If a team like Cardiff, Burnley or Preston go up I think they'd probabley take him on a free. If not he can sod off back to Sweden.

No ones gonna come in for him, the fact that he can't play in his prefered position because there a few defenders ahead of him, says alot!! He will be gone at the end of the season for fifnancial reason, and you could be right Manwell, he may join another club, willing to pay his wages!!!

The end of the season is a bit too long for us to keep him imo. We have/had a perfectly capable left sided player who could fill in where Nils is playing, but because he had a disagreement with the senior players, he was left out and sent packing on loan. Sheehan would be a much more competent, cheap alternative to NEJ, but the board and RK in particular are too blind to see this for some reason. Getting rid of Nils wouldn't be devastating to our squad, and it's something I think we should really look at doing in the January transfer window.
The People's Hero Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 We can't just 'get rid of him'. Unless someone wants him and he wants to go, he's not going to go anywhere.

lcfc_jme Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I would think he will see his contract out and leave in the summer. And go back to the Promised Land for Chosen Men (aka the Premiership), as he has already said. My concern is that we will offer him a new contract in the summer after this one expires, and he'll drag the whole thing out for as long as possible so he can see if anybody is interested in him, and if they aren't, he'll re-sign with us and continue to under perform in a royal blue shirt next term
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 We can't just 'get rid of him'. Unless someone wants him and he wants to go, he's not going to go anywhere. I doubt you'd get many takers paying the cash required to buy him, but there would be plenty that would take him for free.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I doubt you'd get many takers paying the cash required to buy him, but there would be plenty that would take him for free. He's a regular player - the board are highly unlikely to sanction a free. Unfortunately.
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 He's a regular player - the board are highly unlikely to sanction a free. Unfortunately. he's out of contract in the summer anyway, so you could argue that they could free up his wages 6 months early...
lookwhaticando Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 he's out of contract in the summer anyway, so you could argue that they could free up his wages 6 months early... Hopefully he'll either sign a pre-contract in January, or at least put himself out a bit so people know he's available good and proper. Pre-contract is best, it's unlikely we'll offer him a new contract in January - so if he gets a pre-contract somewhere, we won't have to worry about him any more.

Manwell Pablo Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 or just allow him to leave, otherwise he's still here and we're still paying him Exactly......if he's out of contract we don't need to retain him. By the sounds of it he doesn't want be to retained either. Worst comes to worst im sure Djurgardens will take him.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 October 2006 Posted 4 October 2006 Shirtliff eyes Sheehan extension Mansfield Town manager Peter Shirtliff is hoping to extend Alan Sheehan's stay at Field Mill. Sheehan's one-month loan deal with the League Two outfit comes to an end following the weekend visit of Notts County. The 20-year-old has made six appearances for The Stags since his switch from Leicester City at the beginning of September. Shirtliff is keen to hang onto the left back with his defensive options already at a minimum and is confident the feeling is shared by Sheehan. "I think he would be happy to stay," Shirtliff said. Bit of a dull story that really. I was so tempted to change the title to "Shirtlifter eyes penis extension" to liven it up a bit.
