vanfox12 Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 I'm no fan of Jamie Oliver and while his school meal crusade is admirable his outburst at parents in general calling them tossers and assholes shows just what a foul mothed **** he really is. Okay no parent should feed their kids crsips, sweets and pop alone but am i the only one getting a little sick and tired of all this sanctomonious clap trap. Next he will be going to a football ground telling us we can't have a pie and a pint.

cisono Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 Next he will be going to a football ground telling us we can't have a pie and a pint. I don't think they should be sold either
vanfox12 Posted 9 September 2006 Author Posted 9 September 2006 I don't think they should be sold either Thats you're opinion in an ideal world we'd ban drugs and cigarettes but the more you try to do that the more people rebel. I rarely have a pie and a pint at games and most of the time i don't have either but it seems that if some nutritionists get their way the only thing we will be eating is fruit and veg and water to drink. Yes we need to eat these as part of an healthy diet but we all want to have choice. It is possible to include sweets, crsips and pop in your diet provided you include fruit and veg in your diet. The reason why we have an obesity problem is because people are not eating enough fruit and veg as well as enough fibre which is provided by eating an healthy breakfast and foods such as bread and adequate exercise. It's pretty obvious if you eat loads of sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks everyday and in large amounts and do very little exercise you will get fat. Yes parents are idiots if this is all they give their kids but there not tossers or arseholes.

Yes, it is important to have a nutritionally balanced diet and you can get away with eating some sweets etc. However, most people's ideas of a nutritionally balanced diet are pretty far off the mark. For instance, it is NOT normal to eat crisps every day! Also, by far too many prepackaged/processed foods are eaten and not enough (or any!) home cooking! (And no, warming up your processed meal in a microwave is NOT cooking ) In any case... my point was more... I have just come back from Italy and I REALLY MISS the good food you get there.
Nationwider Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 It's pretty obvious if you eat loads of sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks everyday and in large amounts and do very little exercise you will get fat. Yes parents are idiots if this is all they give their kids but there not tossers or arseholes. It's pretty emotive subject. However, if any parent constantly feeds their child crisps, sweets and fatty foods to the point that they become obese - and their health is compromised - then surely that's a form of (child) abuse, which would certainly make them arseholes/tossers in my book. Oliver is a sanctimonious mockney, but he's got a point. As Stez says, everything in moderation.

Oliver is a sanctimonious mockney, but he's got a point. Indeed. Especially since being obese in childhood sets you off on the path to obese adulthood (large number of fat cells and all that...)
Suffolk_fox Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 Well said Cis. When you think that he has taken on the makers of Chicken Nuggets and in the main, won - you can't do that by being meek, mild and without courting controversy. As a parent of 2 young 'uns, I say Bravo Jamie! My kids' school meals have improved no end, and Delia Smith never did anything about it....
Finnegan Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 I'm pretty sure every football forum I've ever been on has had a Jamie Oliver Is A Coont thread somewhere. Good work here, Mr. Van Fox. Quite possibly the biggest nobber on the planet.
Filbert_Ross Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 'twat or tosser'? as you put it, surely he is both.

Master Fox Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 I wish some would punch him in his dribbling big fat mouth
Finnegan Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 Who? Van Fox or Jamie Oliver? That can be open for debate, if you'd like?
cisono Posted 9 September 2006 Posted 9 September 2006 I wish some would punch him in his dribbling big fat mouth Thing is... I am sure he would punch you back
Bert Posted 10 September 2006 Posted 10 September 2006 I can see what he's getting at and that's fair enough but kids are only going to eat what they want. He just annoys me how because he thinks it right everyone else should do it. What a first class nob jockey he is.
lcfc_jme Posted 10 September 2006 Posted 10 September 2006 Jamie Oliver is an idiot. At first I thought he was doing a good thing in saying he wanted to tackle child obesity, but he is going too far with it imo. Cheap insults at parents is ridiculous. If he wanted people to be healthy, why doesn't he go and brandish the government "assholes and tossers" for making healthier foods dearer and more expensive than the cheaper, tastier unhealthy foods??
john_lcfc Posted 10 September 2006 Posted 10 September 2006 tosser- my school wont sell us crisps or chocolate before 1 o clock and wont sell fizzy drinks at all and so everyone goes into town illegally to stock up
Alexikokopops Posted 10 September 2006 Posted 10 September 2006 tosser- my school wont sell us crisps or chocolate before 1 o clock and wont sell fizzy drinks at all and so everyone goes into town illegally to stock up Could be worst
l444ry Posted 10 September 2006 Posted 10 September 2006 What a load of claptrap is being trotted out here. You only have to look around you to see the unhealthy overweight state of a majority of kids today. If Oliver chooses to highlight what he considers to be one of the major reasons - parents neglecting their responsibity over their kids diet - then what the heck is the problem?
The People's Hero Posted 11 September 2006 Posted 11 September 2006 My girlfriend fancies Jamie Oliver. Factoid.
Janx Posted 11 September 2006 Posted 11 September 2006 Although his motives are mainly dubious... Im with Oliver... get the little porkers out of the E number trough and back into proper eating!
Deathside Posted 11 September 2006 Posted 11 September 2006 My girlfriend fancies Jamie Oliver. Factoid. Jamie Oliver fancies your girlfriend But then again don't we all??
