teblin Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 Rob kelly is a top bloke and a good coach, but not sure he is a manager. Think that what he did last season was as much to do with the players realising what they had got the club into than anything else. Move him to one side, get a manager in. Big problem is who?? We are not going to be up there challenging for but someone who can get us away from the relegation zone, then you never know.
Head Honcho Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 Where do we start? Lets begin with the fact the team isn't fit, nowhere even close to being fit to play at this level. Moving on to the signing and re-signing of Andy Johnson and Danny Tiatto respectively. The belief that Paddy McCarthey is a captain. The addition of Josh Low and Gareth McAuley who are out of their depth. The persistance with Chris O'Grady. How we lined up with 6 defenders for the opening games. I don't give a f'ck if he saved us from relegation last season, as we have been shite since April with tepid, weak and spineless performances. He is f'cking useless as a manager and the players clearly are not playing for him. Agree with all of that Kelly took the job on and who can blame him, most of us were demanding he be appointed manager and basically we made it easy for the board to appoint him on the cheap? I personally don't think he's up to it and probably now is the best time for a change but the players seriously have to look at themselves! Ok tactics were crap but that doesn't excuse piss poor performances week in week out does it? Some of the players out there on the park didn't just have a bad day at the office yesterday they've been poor for the best part of 2 years now and the bottom line is that they aren't up to the job!
lcfc_jme Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I've always said we should give RK time and allow him to gain managerial experience, as I thought it could only benefit him. "15 games will give us a rough idea of how he's doing, and if we're still looking bad after that many games, then we should review his position and make changes accordingly," I said to myself and many others. I'm still happy to give RK until the 15 game mark I was happy with seeing him reach (for reasons I have previously stated), provided he can get the respect of the team back and actually get his players SCORING and KILLING TEAMS OFF  !!!! Sadly, it doesn't look like he's going to be able to do it and I feel it is only now a matter of time before he, or the board, have to do the decent thing. They simply cannot afford to take as long as they did to oust Levein with the bunch of jokers we have as a squad playing how they are atm. That would be suicide. The next couple of games are going to be pretty difficult for us, and unless RK has been a good boy and has been saying his prayers morning, noon and night, we aren't going to pick up many points - further proof that somebody would need to act swiftly. I'd have liked it to have worked out for RK, but he lacks the skills and credentials that we desperately need to bring us through this difficult period.

BartonFox Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I'd give you 5/6 on that. I think you're wrong about O'Grady. We'll always disagree on that one
Thracian Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 We'll always disagree on that one I'm perfectly willing to be proved wrong - it is not key to city's problems- but I'd be delighted to have COG in any team of mine. But then I would never have advocated aerial incursions into Colchester's defence on the evidence of the opening quarter. And Porter would always have had support on his inside. If Kelly couldn't spot and make these basic changes then you have to question his abilities.
Chrysalis Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 Whats yourepoint then? get howard wilkinson and harry bassett back cuz they are better? check bassets record in this division please.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 No, Kelly is the immediate problem. He is clearly out of his depth. But I must admit I wouldn't have much confidence in this board to choose a replacement! They've got it wrong twice in the past. So why should we trust them any more?? cos they're Leicester fans?
ithuriel Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 the shocking thing is , well maybe not shocking , is that a derby county supporter told me after three games that kelly will get us relegated. i shrugged it off at the time because he is a shagger but now i wonder. im thinking of asking him for any tips on the lottery the next time i see him

Its all well and good sacking kelly but really who is going to want to come to this club. We are not a big club, we merely have a good stadium, but a sh!te team playing in it!
ROSSINDA Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 the shocking thing is , well maybe not shocking , is that a derby county supporter told me after three games that kelly will get us relegated. i shrugged it off at the time because he is a shagger but now i wonder. im thinking of asking him for any tips on the lottery the next time i see him Hard one to call this.. OK the board IS crap, we all know this, that part of the debate is over, as for RK, well I have mixed feelings here. I think the bloke is great, and he seems quite nice, but I think that’s part of the problem as well, he’s too nice, he needs to get a whole lot tougher. Stop being everybody’s mate and become our manager. One major thing to point out, he IS in-experienced as a manager, and maybe we as fans and supporters want too much too soon from him during his learning period. Having said that ( I told you I had mixed feelings) IMO he doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes to well, surely he can see that the problem we have in not scoring is a combination of 1) a poor midfield that is too defensive, and 2) virtually no service to the front pair (a result of the aforementioned defensive nature), who if they both want to do anything, have to come back and “get the ball†in addition, this constant “Hoof†football is really pissing me off, Surly RK can see this tactic hasn’t worked and will never work with the current squad. Maybe what I am try to put off saying is, is he ever going to be good enough, even with time to learn the ropes?, and should he make way for an experienced manager? but certainly staying on as a coach or a No 2 (too gain the experience, come on, having CL as a manager he was never going to learn anything) This brings us back to the time old debate of “who would we haveâ€Â, but surly this is all academic as we don’t have the funds to replace RK in the first place. I do get the feeling that RK is quite an honest man, and if the results don’t start going our way or at least we start show we are improving, then he may decide to do the honorable thing and quit, not because he is gutless, but because he may see that in doing so early enough, it may give his successor a fighting chance. Finally before I put this “War and Peace†effort to bed, if Mr. Mandrick ( how ever you spell his name if I got it wrong) did decide to invest in us, he may make the decision for us. As other posters had said he may want his own choice of high profile, experienced manager in at the helm, but the good thing is, with his money he would get what he wanted, personally I don’t think he will come though, however much I wish it. sorry.
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 Kelly out you dickheads. Bit OTT that. Hardly getting results is he.
holly Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 slightly premature, so stop even going on about it
Babylon Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 slightly premature, so stop even going on about it 6 games premature IMO.
Monk Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 brian little is available I for one would embrace Brian Little back at Leicester, and hope that he buys Joachim in the transfer window! As for RK, I think my main problem is not looking down as I believe he can keep us up, however I just cannot see us progressing as a club with him in charge. Even if we stay up and finish a very optimistic 10th, would we be any better next season? I can't see it. Someone like Brian Little would bring back motivation, and a figurehead as well. I really think those are the 2 main things other than tactical ability that we lack. He WOULD look to buy in a hard man like Walsh/Lennon, which we have seriosuly missed for the past few seasons (Tiatto does not come under the 'hard man' category, rather the 'headless chicken' one. What loyal players do we have who the fans love?? None who have been in the first team more than a season thats for sure.
Janx Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 6 games premature IMO. I have long been a believer in giving people a chance. But I am genuinely interested as to what you think he can do in the next 6 games. One win and we are all back on his side..? Nah just another false dawn. 2 wins in a row ..hmm pretty good, but not if followed by 4 losses. When do we take action.
Thracian Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 6 games premature IMO. Glad you're still around. I wondered where you'd been. Expected a bit more support for RK than that, especially as the next six games don't make particularly encouraging reading. Is there nothing you can say to restore a bit of faith?

Well I have been out of the country for over a week and have only been back a matter of hours so I'm not going to trawl through a weeks worth of posts and opinions. Not that they would differ much from before I went about. Restore faith?? What's the point... people are very reactionary. It was only three games ago after we had a small run of ok results that people were saying we had a chance of play offs and promotion. Now three games later people are doom and gloom again. I always say give a guy time, 9 games for me is too soon. After 15 games in to a season I can make a rational decision about it, when we get to 15 games i'll nail my flag to the fence one way or another. IMO we are by no means a lost cause at the minute, i've said it before when one win can move you so far up the league it's too soon. I know how the board think and the will give him more time whether you want them too or not. They got rid of Levein 3/4 games too late last time IMO. They gave him his chance and he didn't take it. They will give Kelly his chance... 2nd/3rd week of November will be when the axe falls if it's going too.

Bye Rob

People are so reactionary on here who can say what they will or won't do. Action will be taken early november IMO, if action has to be taken of course. That's when the board will look at changing. Whether it's too early or too late I don't know... and it's impossible to ever know.

I agree Babylon, I for one an not sure that to sack him this soon is right, I will give him until november, RK has some tough games, if he can't cut it by then, then he will have to go!!! He did save us last season, who knows he may rekindle the magic but unlikely IMO, he will be out by then!!!

ceebeefox Posted 25 September 2006 Posted 25 September 2006 thats right we are one place above relegation drew 0-0 with colchester. i think your the dickhead If he shows no desire to change things then it sounds obvious but things will stay the same. He has no cash but how much did Little have? He took City on when we were this bad and signed donkeys but good coaching and a good system saw us reach play offs. If RK sticks with 4-4-2 with this lot we're down.
