who-izzet Posted 13 December 2006 Posted 13 December 2006 I'd love to see Derby's Giles Barnes but I have heard Liverpool are looking at him and he is already valued at £2.5m. I doubt we will be paying that much for players. My targets would be a few big name loans from the Premier League just to make sure we stay up this season. I wish we had Lee Hendrie instead of Stoke! Chris Armstrong (Sheff Utd) Michael Tonge (Sheff Utd) Malcolm Christie (Middlesbrough) Ray Parlour (Middlesbrough) Alan Smith (Man Utd) Dominic Matteo (Blackburn) Steven Reid (Blackburn) Pete Whittingham (Aston Villa) I heard a rumour that David Dunn has been linked with the club. I doubt it but I wouldn't object.
Ric Flair Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Garry O'Connor (Lokomotiv Moscow) Good choice, suggested him myself but I think there will be some bigger clubs than us after him come January. I just hope he fancies moving to England instead of back up to sweaty land. Celtic, Rangers or Leicester? Tough choice. Unless McLeish arrives as manager (they worked together at Hibs)
Strokes Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Okay and how many times did he waste possession when we might have gone to score? How many times did he give away stupid free kicks in dangerous areas which produced goals for opposition? How many times did he give the ball away in dangerous areas playing a stupidly ambitious ball or just a slopppy one when a simple and effective option was available? If you're going to go an about the goals he made/scored himself, you have to look at it in the context of how many did he cost us. Be fair, our midfield has continued to leak goals due to the above mistakes anyway, at least joey contributed with goals and a fair few assists as well.
Webbo Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 james beatie is out of favour at everton. couldn't we get him on loan till the end of the season?
Ric Flair Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 james beatie is out of favour at everton. couldn't we get him on loan till the end of the season? No. There would be a humungous list of better placed clubs than ours queing up to get him should Moyes be foolish enough to make him available. Beattie is re-known for his bad spells, he can often go nearly a season without scoring and then he'll bang in about 12 in 10 games and all will be rosy once again. This happened just as we were due to sign him under Taylor.
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 No. There would be a humungous list of better placed clubs than ours queing up to get him should Moyes be foolish enough to make him available. This happened just as we were due to sign him under Taylor. And the Beat goes on.....
dandannieldanok Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Will Hoskins has rejected a contract offer at Rotherham so if we were to attempt to buy him in January Rotherham are likely to cash in because he would go free in the summer. Also Ray Jones is likely to leave QPR.

boosmanana Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 ole gunner socshar (my spelling is terrible) wouldnt be a bad purchase imo Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
uncle_connolly Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 ole gunner socshar (my spelling is terrible) wouldnt be a bad purchase imo Definetly wouldnt be a miss but it just depends if Man Utd. would want to let him go to us (obviously on loan).
dandannieldanok Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 ole gunner socshar (my spelling is terrible) wouldnt be a bad purchase imo Wages and the fact that we are 18th in the championship would stop this happening. Danny Koevermans (AZ Alkmaar)
who-izzet Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Henrik Larsson after Man Utd have finished with him!
RowlattsFox Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 what about micheal ball from psv, he never plays for them. used to play for everton for those of you who dont remember him.
who-izzet Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 what about micheal ball from psv, he never plays for them. used to play for everton for those of you who dont remember him. He never played for Rangers either did he? Poor guy was a game away from a bonus or something so they got rid of him. I remember him being abit injury prone. How old is he now? How about Ray Jones (Chelsea, QPR) look at this... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...qpr/6177517.stm He would be without doubt my first target. Hell offer £500,000 to £1m! Not the Chelski need the money!
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 Wages and the fact that we are 18th in the championship would stop this happening. (Very True but then this) Danny Koevermans (AZ Alkmaar)
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 Absurd isn't it? It's just funny. He names all the reasons why a top player wouldn't come here, and then suggests one.
amitoo Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 There is some decent quality in the top league we could get on loan or even buy Paul Anderson (liverpool) Carlton Cole (West Han) Jason Roberts (Blackburn) Ray Jones (QPR) stated he is leaving one player which i think we should really invest in that could cause alot of damage to defenders is no other then: SaMMy BaNgoUra !!!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 It's just funny. He names all the reasons why a top player wouldn't come here, and then suggests one. I wouldn't call him a top player. He has a reasonable scoring rate in a league that isn't terribly better than ours. Plus he is 28 and has only really just managed to hold down a position in the first team. Players like this are always desperate to ply their trade in England.
