dandannieldanok Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 Bo llo cks. He had 1 good game for 4 bad ones. He scored some good goals and SOME people can't see beyond that. To suggest he has 'class' is actually ridiculous. I would have accepted, hardworking, ambitious, over-rated, niggly, frustrating or even talented (to an extent), but class?? Really?? You are being harsh, some of those goals won us vital points that helped stave off relegation. Ye he isn't class but I do think he is a lot better than Hughes or Tiatto.
The People's Hero Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 also one year ago Joey had just bagged a wonder goal against Stoke away...... so Coatsworth scored a wonder goal against Luton, he must be CLASS, let's sign him, he's the answer to all our problems. This is an example of your logic in action. Please try harder.

Ye he isn't class but I do think he is a lot better than Hughes or Tiatto. I don't think I am being harsh. He has goals to his game, that is fair enough... but he so often wasted possession. He went missing for whole games, just like Johnson does. I don't dispute that his goals were invaluable, they really were. I do however find the suggestion that he was class as pretty disgusting considering some of the 'performances' he put in for us and at a time when we were sh it anyway. Edited to add.... Absence makes the heart grow fonder. He scored some good goals, some vital goals in fact but he so often wasted possession and held us back. Would I have him back? Possibly, but we'd have to get rid of someone. I don't see him as much of an improvement on Weso/Williams although admittedly he is more often fit/available. People seem to forget the games he spent completely anonymous and the fact that when he was here, we were sh it save for the honeymoon period with RK at the end of the season (and even then we were unconvincing).
Webbo Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 He had 1 good game for 4 bad ones. at last a realistic appraisal of gudjohnson. he wasn't a bad player, but far from brilliant.

Ye he isn't class but I do think he is a lot better than Hughes or Tiatto. The second season he was here he was a good player for us but he had had 4 pretty dyer seasons before that and is having another currently, admitedly this is down to his inabilty to get in the team. I'd have him back but you'd think it would be possible to pick up someone better and more consistent with something in the region of £600,000 - £750,000 if you were clever about it.

Don't worry. It won't happen. It would be daft if it did because I doubt he's particularly fit and I think we've got at least one better player in the club anyway and another to follow before very long. Why do we seem to have this eternal desire to go backwards at Leicester? Joey did a good enough job for us last season - and he's been missed - but we've got to aim higher than that.

Because at least half our fans are blithering idiots who think that a good goal now and then = a great, classy player. I know stuff about football, understand the game and look beyond that. Some people are incapable of this yet refuse to know their place.
Muz Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 I would definatley have a look at Constantaine. He fits the bill. We badly need a target man and he looks as if he's good on the ground aswell as in the air. I know this contridicting what I've just said but apparently 2m will get you Sharp and Keogh. I'd be estatic if we could get them two. If I had to choose one of them It'd be Sharp although... Hume just behind Sharp and Keogh/Fryatt = Orgasm.

I read in the Sun that wolves are interested in signing them both for 2million. Would be a great investment.

I suggested him alot earlier in this thread....as I said at the time the only trouble with him is he's 28/29 and probabley just hitting he's peak. He's certainly not going to get any better and there is a big question mark over whether or not he could cut it at this level week in week out. I'd still have a good look. I think S****horpe would think very carefully about selling the strike force thats getting them promoted, even 2 mill might not be enough and thats even if our transfere kitty is that big. Having thought about it even more Chris Cohen from Yeovil definatley tickes my fish, what with Sheehan looking like he's never going to make it and all...
Muz Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 I agree. I read in the Sun that wolves are interested in signing them both for 2million. Would be a great investment. It definatley would be. Also Mark Jones from Wrexham. He's been knocking on the door of the Wales squad recently and has been a consistant performer in every league he's played in with Wrexham. Scores a fair few goals aswell. Craig Beattie and/or Derek Riordan from Celtic might be worth a look. They both have'nt been playing recently and both have alot of potential. Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson aswell they might be premiership bound though. But If we had the cash we should definately have a look. Im getting a touch on thinking about all these players. Bless.

Your definately tickling my fish with that one Manwell. Moved from West Ham did'nt he and has been getting some rave reviews.

Doubt they'll move from celtic mate. After all we are only Leicester City
Muz Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 Doubt they'll move from celtic mate. After all we are only Leicester City Well maybe Beattie is a long shot but Riordan has been linked with a number of championship clubs recently,Norwich being one. Milans millions could bring him down.
lildave3 Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 I honestly think Joey would add something and improve our team. On some days he was head and shoulders better than anyone else, on others he went missing, but i'd still pick him. He didn't just score goals, he got forward, created goals and his shots livened the crowd up, even the ones that went nowhere near the goal. I miss him.
lookwhaticando Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 I stand by my original suggestion. Matty Piper. Pay as you play, easy as you like.
Thracian Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 Bo llo cks. Really?? Joey was a more effective midfielder than Hughes or Tiatto because he scored more goals than Hughes and Tiatto and remained on the pitch longer than Tiatto for various reasons. Nine goals for the season and solidly reliable on top... and how those goals have been so predictably missed. He had another quality too - he was forever involved in the game and didn't hide when things were not quite happening either for himself or the team.
The People's Hero Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 Okay and how many times did he waste possession when we might have gone to score? How many times did he give away stupid free kicks in dangerous areas which produced goals for opposition? How many times did he give the ball away in dangerous areas playing a stupidly ambitious ball or just a slopppy one when a simple and effective option was available? If you're going to go an about the goals he made/scored himself, you have to look at it in the context of how many did he cost us.
Chrysalis Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 to be honest joey is missed and was one of our better players, wether or not this is because the ones left are shite or he is class isnt relevant he was one of our better players and I would welcome him back.
Leonisco Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 What about Mark Noble from West Ham? Everyone there was going on about him a couple of years ago, how he was gonna be the next big thing and all that, but recently he seems to have slipped off the radar a bit. Think he's on loan at Ipswich at the moment, could well be worth it as he's a creative central midfielder (I think).
dog_4 Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 carlton cole (west ham) joey gudjohnsson (az alkmaar) and stephane dalmat from racing santander
potter3 Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 Could Matt Richards be worth a look? Decent whenever I've seen him, although left-back isn't the position we needs improving on the most. One of Matt Jarvis and Chris Cohen would be good, or even both Has anyone seen Kevan Hurst play for Chesterfield? He is the League 1 top assister, or equal top with Matt Jarvis if you discount cups.
davieG Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 He could be available, didn't CL mean to sign this guy before. Plymouth Argyle have tabled a second and final contract offer to midfielder Tony Capaldi. The Northern Ireland international rejected the first offer made to him by the Championship club, with the player's current deal set to expire next summer. The former Birmingham City man has since been linked with a return to the Midlands and Championship rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite showing an interest in keeping the 25-year-old at Home Park, Pilgrims boss Ian Holloway has warned they may have to let the player leave in January. "We have put in our final offer and I am yet to talk to him about it," Holloway told the club's official website. "He has got to talk to his agent, who is a very nice man and is trying to do the best for his client. "We have made one offer and they have come in with a response of what they want. We can't offer them what they want, but we will offer as much as we can go to, and I will try and convince him that is right. "I have inherited a situation where it has been let go. If I was here last year, I would have tried to sort it out because it would have been a lot easier. "We are trying to offer him a new deal and I would like him to stay, but if we can't match up with what he wants, then he will have to go in the window."
