BartonFox Posted 28 November 2006 Posted 28 November 2006 As you know I want him out, but why do you want him to stay?
Thracian Posted 28 November 2006 Posted 28 November 2006 Not planning for a lot of reading tonight then Barton!
Isopen Posted 28 November 2006 Posted 28 November 2006 As you know I want him out, but why do you want him to stay? Because he was shortlisted for manager of the month only in October?
BartonFox Posted 28 November 2006 Author Posted 28 November 2006 Because he was shortlisted for manager of the month only in October? Are you actually serious about that?
Mort Posted 28 November 2006 Posted 28 November 2006 I've got one!... "Lack of any real alternative" ...i would desperatley hope that Milan's buy-out gets sorted and gets sorted quick, otherwise we'll be in the brown stuff even more so that this time last year and I just have what MM said in that interview a little while back "if I've not taken over by Christmas then it not going to happen" Once MM is in control we will have [dee[ breath] options! But until then we're in the same worsening mess we've been in for the last three seasons
Bert Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 I like Stoweel he seems to be very passionate and is alwasy ranting and raving.
Babylon Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 We can't afford anything else until MM comes in (if he comes in I should say). When he does it will be bye bye Rob.

Master Fox Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 The bloke has got to now. There isn't a single reason to keep to him at the club unless we need a bus driver?
gatesheadfox Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 the board appointed RK because he was the cheapest option. the only reason for keeping him is because of his rolling contract his payoff will never be shortened and i can't see this board wanting to sack him before mandaric comes in and does this with his own money
Ryanside Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 I would have to agree that 1 point from a possible 15 this month is nowhere near good enough and that we should get someone new in. But at the same time, Rob was never trained to be a full time manager and was sort of forced into the roll, so when/if he should he should be praised for the work he did last year. But it appears he cannot do it again this season so he has to go!
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 He'll get to the end of this month which I think is only fair. I'd like to think he will turn it around but I really can't see it.
chesterfox Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 Rob Kelly is not the problem and unless there is somebody exceptional lined up sacking him will not alter the situation. The quality of players and often the employed tactics can be faulted but this continuous search for change is short sighted, fickle and disruptive. I was quite impressed of the input this site had in getting rid of Levein but if the board listens every time people get uptight then no manager will last longer than half a season. Rob Kelly has the ability to learn from mistakes, has the desire to do well for the club but at the moment has little luck. We have to face facts we are a long way from challenging for the Prem - we can but hope that MM brings money in, improves the quality of the squad and has a plan to take the club forward. On the MM subject I am pleased that the board are taking their time because let's be honest his track record at Portsmouth wasn't that great!!!!Who can even remember the name of his Greek manager???? And how good was the French guy?? RobKelly'sblueandwhitearmyarmy!!!!!!!!!!!1
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 We can't afford anything else until MM comes in (if he comes in I should say). When he does it will be bye bye Rob. Yes I believe that too, but I hope MM doesn't replace him with Perrin or somebody like that !! I think I'm the only one who doesn't think that Jamie Redknapp wouldn't be such a bad idea !!
jumbo mills Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 he's cheap? i think you have hit the nail on the head
Mort Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 Rob Kelly has the ability to learn from mistakes... Yeah... he soon learnt that playing a team with seven defenders just didnt work and switched to an attacking line up and realised that neither Josh Low nor Andy Johnson where up to it and sidelined them... oh wait! :pinch:
TheShrew Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 Because shipping the manager out after a bad run over and over again is madness. I'm bored of us forcing managers out on a whim. It's just so fickle. As many have said, a month ago we were up there, now were not, no doubt things will change again at some point (good spells, bad spells, we all have them) No-one who blames the tactics can prove whether that is kelly's own mistake or whether the playing squad are inept and don't follow instruction. Every City side that i have seen in recent years has had the same problems with concentration and killing off games. I blame the walkers stadium. I may be one of a small brigade but i want Kelly at the helm at the start of the MM era, he deserves a bit of cash to show what he can do. As for team selection, we all have our views on who should and shouldn't play. Mine differ slightly each match to Kelly's but i'm willing to place some trust in the man who spends his week on the training pitch with them. Curbishley can stay away, so can an unproven Redknapp, inept Dowie or kidnapped Ranieri. It might materialise that MM doesn't want Kelly around, in which case i'd respect his professional decision, not the ramblings of armchair managers and champ man fanatics.

ithuriel Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 there are only two options i can see. 1. Milan will take control and appoint a new manager with a few million to spend for the moment. 2. the present board will stay in control with Rob Kelly and if we avoid relegation this season , which i think we will , we will have the same problems again next season.
moseeds Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 Because shipping the manager out after a bad run over and over again is madness. I'm bored of us forcing managers out on a whim... It's not a whim! The team have been playing consistently sh*t for years now, the latest batch of sh*tness from Mr Kelly. I'm an optimistic guy but I just can't see this team going anywhere with Rob in charge.
gatesheadfox Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 how many managers have recently been forced out. taylor got well over a season before being sacked, his replacement was only brought in to steady the ship until mental mickeh was given the job full time. he had himself a good few years of employment before losing his marbles and was replaced by levein who had a year. prior to these managers we had martin o'neill....we've hardly booted people out every 6 months
Daggers Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 On the MM subject I am pleased that the board are taking their time because let's be honest his track record at Portsmouth wasn't that great!!!!Who can even remember the name of his Greek manager???? And how good was the French guy?? Surely that brings us full circle to Rob though. Mandy has held his hands up, said he made mistakes and learned from them. Kelly repeats his mistakes every week. It's the difference between a clever and a stupid man.
TheShrew Posted 29 November 2006 Posted 29 November 2006 As others have said, previous managers have had much larger budgets to play with. This isn't me condoning the purchase of Johnson or Low. But comparisions cannot be drawn until he has had a fair crack. It's not like he's going to do a PT on us, MM can't afford that. Kelly should be given the chance to make his mark on the first team. However, as i said in my other post, if mandaric doesn't like his ideas he won't trust him with his money and that'll be that.
