Yes, he had a decent pedigree and scored at a decent rate. But since 2003 he's made just 40 appearances for Crystal Palace and 35 for Sheffield United scoring 19 times in those 75 matches, approximately two season's worth of games but spread over much longer. He's not listed as having played in any of Sheffield United's games this season and seeing they are not do marvellously well that doesn't write much of a testament to his current form. This clamour for "experience" is starting to frighten me. Mandaric's arrival is supposed to be a brave new world not a tribute to the ancient mariner.
Geo V Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 Experience is a neccessaty for this team as there progress will be stunted if there isnt players on board of a certain quality who can pass on there "wisdom" for a want of a better word. Old stagers who have let themsleves go like Shipperley shouldnt be on our list of possible signings. Someone like Pompeys Andy Cole who is still in shape and whenever he comes off the bench looks like he can do a job should be the type of player we should look at for a season and a half IMO. His trophy cabinet, proffesionalism and achievement should make the likes of our kids want to better themselves. Whether we could get him is another matter though!

But Mandaric will only give Kelly £3m to spend and Kelly has been told to spend wisely, unlike Palace boss and former city boss Peter Taylor. I`d put my head on the block and guess that with the exception of Nissa who is obviously coming to the end of his contract, that none of our younger players will be sold. It would be madness to let the likes of Stearman, Porter, Fryatt, Weso etc to go as we have now got the foundations in place and need that MM cash to take us up another level. BTW at the Lauren transfer. If he comes to us I will personally go on youtube with a F*rest shirt on singing songs about Robin Hood

Wright opted to join League Two Darlington as he couldn't agree personal terms at Millmoor and scored on his debut, paving the way for O'Grady to complete a deal, although MillersMAD understands the player has been a long term target for gaffer Alan Knill. He has enjoyed loan spells at Notts County and Rushden and Diamonds in recent seasons and scored on his City debut in the Carling Cup against Macclesfield, with a claim to fame of scoring from the spot in pre-season against Inter Milan. MillersMAD wish him all the best as he goes straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Millwall.

Leicester are set to pay Charlton 1.5 million on matt Holland and jerome thomas. Milan Mandaric 1st Buys. Leicester to sign Rory Fallon and Lee Trundle for elvis hammond and 1.5 million. Whilst attending the Leicester Fulham game I overheard a journalist talking to a club official. The word is that Kelly will be kept as manager until the end of the season when his position will be reviewed. Transfer targets include Holland, who was due to be at the game. They are hoping to use his pompey connections to land O'Brien plus some loan players. Lee Hendrie also remains a target. In the summer they are hoping to land Gary Speed as a player/coach. I love this one..... High places have speculated the return of Muzzy Izzet back to LEICESTER CITY as part of the coaching staff. Local LEICESTER people commented that IZZET'S heart had always been at the club. Heard at the Fulham/Leicester Match - Milan Mandaric's first act on taking control of Leicester City will be to sign Spanish Defender Manuel Pablo. Its a little alarming that all we have after those 3 departures is some free money for a loan signing!! I cant see it being Matt Holland at this stage as Charlton are fighting to stay up. I hear Everton want to send Alessandro Pistone on loan after hsi comeback from a year out. Would he be any good as a loan??
