Simi Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 I don't get why everyone in the Kop doesn't just get a season ticket in the family stand next season. Do you people just sit there because it's called the Kop or is there some ruling about sitting in the family stand? (Like only being able to sit there if you have a child with you or something?) Whats so special about the bladdy kop Not as easy as that. People have had season tickets in the Family Stand since we have moved to The Walkers and why should they move. Plus with what was at Filbert Street in The Kop nobody knew how the atmosphere was going to turn out to sound.
FNQ Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 This is good news, you miserable bastards. N1 wouldn't have been my first choice of block though. Don't really understand why it's in the family stand. Maybe this is the start of the Kop switch?

It is entirely separate from the Family Stand (there are metal shutters dividing if from the Family Stand and away fans). It is being opted for as it is close to the away fans and is currently under-used. It is perfect for 800 fans who wish to make an atmosphere and engage in some healthy banter .

Is that really enough? 800 singing fans grouped together sounds great now - a huge improvement on what wev'e got at the moment. But what if it takes off? Where will people go then? L1? Has the club mentioned extending the section if it's a success?

I think the idea is that this number will grow as people who want to sing will see the ultras and move there.

That is the first challenge. The club did look into expanding N Block, but we will reach that bridge when it comes. Lets just make N Block a success first and hopefully the club will have a pleasant dilemma about locating more singers. The club are bracing themeselves and they want it to work. That is the astonishing thing! They actually want us to be noisy and passionate as it makes football more of a spectacle. We shall have to see on expansion...

So if it all spills over into the family stand (which it hopefully will ) what happens then? Cos I'm sure the families probably won't be too happy if their seats are 'invaded', and it'll cause plenty of friction. What if they complain to the club and get them to impose some kind of limit on numbers?
Ashley Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 I'm all for the idea in N block The shutters are normally shut off inside the ground seperating N block from the family stand then there is another one seperating N block to the away fans .... And all this about the away fans singing to N1 to us who the F***ing hell are you? Is a load of rubbish i bet the family stand here's it when they sing it to L1 so .................. There is also beer on sale inside this block Wp lads behind this
FNQ Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 The easiest thing would be to make some of the East stand cheaper I guess.

I suppose in the mean time if Block N sells out, which i am hoping for, then L Block is a good overspill for the desired effect that the club want to create in terms of atmosphere.
Fox63 Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 We are sick to death of being the only ones in The Kop along with those at the back of E3 who sing. If everyone else joined in, we would not have this problem would we? This is the sort of quote that is unhelpful. What makes you think that you are the only people who sing? Smacks of arogance! Dispite what you say N1 is part of the family stand. If having shutters on the concourse to keep fans apart when the full away alocation is met (ie Spurs last year) means to you that N1 is not part of the Family Stand then I say cling on to your small but not very valid point. But at the end of the day N1 is part of that stand.
mf_12 Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 sounds good - hope it takes off, we need some more noise. Went to Southampton and their fans were right next to ours. Not only were they loud, but they were so loud it made us quieter.

OK, fair enough then. Although I do think that if the club have agreed to use N block, they may as well go the whole hog and just switch the Kop and the Family Stand. Once again, well done on this lads, and I'll see you there against the CovScum!

Kilworthfox Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 For all of those that knock our great club and do not say they listen, finally have to eat a very big slice of humble pie. I was present at the meeting with Jamie and Andy last night who pioneered the idea of a singing section in Block N. Collectively, for 3 weeks we have been in constant dialogue with the club and its representatives. We now have their total and unequivocal support with the proposal and the club could not have been more accommodating and supporting. They equally want to ehance the atmosphere at home games and are equally frustrated at the lacklustre home atmospheres. Block N will be consecrated the new singing section and the Club will be publicising via their website and matchday programme the idea to pledge their support and for it to gain visibility. Hopefully, the idea may even make the Mercury and Leicester Sound, but that is down to their media department and not the club. We are urging those in The Kop to support the idea and come on board. They are hoping for the idea to be in place for home game against Coventry and this will be made clear in due course. All supporters have to do is buy tickets for this section if they want to be LOUD and PROUD or transfer their season tickets for the game. The club urge that supporters do this before a matchday to avoid lengthy queues. Please respect this! Remember the club are trialling the idea so that it can be in place for next season so those that want to be part of this have to be pro-active and actually SING! They will be trialling the idea at designated games hopefully as of Coventry. They want new songs to be lauched with the aid now of an "official" club drum and for us to recreate the frenzy of spinning scarfs that are seen at St. James Park when the team scores. The new drum will hopefully be heard in The Kop and played by a member of the group. To be honest, we never thought the club would embrace the idea so wholeheartedly and be so sympathetic to supporter needs. They are caught between a rock and a hard place most times, so i for one, will be rejoicing the names of the main men at our great club. Because they do listen, but you have to stand up to be counted to make yourself heard! BLUE ARMY! You have not mentioned standing did the club embrace that? If so i will come along
Simi Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 You have not mentioned standing did the club embrace that? If so i will come along It's mentioned earlier in the thread TD said that standing would be permitted but not for the whole of the game. Some sitting has to be involved for stewarding reasons. But for the most part standing is permitted.

It has its own concourse that sells alcohol with no children in sight! Only the concourse is seperate! N1 is, to all intents and purpose, from the inside of the stadium, part of the Family Stand. Please don't get me wrong about this movement. I support it, always have, ever since the idea was first posted. My postings will back me up. I wish you well. I hope it works, I'm sure that it will be success given the time it needs to mature. I think that all the organisers, especially SUAS, will eventually persuade people over. However, I wont be moving. I will continue to sit in the Kop, with my son and my flask and enjoy every minute of every game dispite the result and sing and chant when it takes my fancy.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Read the thread! Block N is NOT part of the Family Stand and therefore has its OWN concourse that sells alcohol. I think people mean structurally, it is a part of the that stand.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Firstly, before I get accused of not being supportive, I'd like to state that I think it's great that someone's trying to do something. However, what matters is not whether N1 has its own concourse, it's that our stadium looks like this; IMHO, if it does turn into something that proper singers want to be a part of, which is essentially SK1 and SK2 from Filbert Street, there will be plenty of complaints and the club will beat a hasty retreat. Just my opinion.

purpleronnie Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Awesome at least someone is trying to make a difference. Don't listen to all the boring, moaning plastic fans on here who do nothing to support the team. They are the reason the walkers is considered to be one of the worst atmosphere's in the league. I hope its a great success.
