Ending the season on a high

It's cold, misserable, end of September and the outfield is probably a right state... oh and there's nothing to play for. I'm amazed we've made 100 lol

Got an extra few quid so just pay him what they were. Get him in. So fit. Age not an issue. Got 3 or 4 years left I think. If anything he gets better.

Probably make a good coach as well. Great role model for the younger pros and always speaks thoughtfully about the game.

Well this season has far exceeded expectations (which were rock bottom tbh) fantastic effort to finally win some silverware again and improve in the CC.

Hopefully Wright now stays on but a big winter coming up - sorting out the coaching set up and replacing Ackermann's runs in 4 day cricket and his allround abilities in the short form. This will be really difficult.

Richard Rae suggested Davis is also being let go

Doesn't surprise me that Davis being let go. He's a talented player but fitness/form/consistency have seemed to illude him in recent seasons.

I really hope we can keep Wright, would be over the moon with it to be honest.

Wright, Mulder, Scriven + 1 with Ahmed for spin and that's a serious attack.

Did Ahmed even turn a ball this season!  Majorly disappointed with his bowling this season, felt like he regressed to me. His batting was half decent at times, although he usually got himself out playing a ridiculous shot, but his batting was what juat about kept him deserving of a place in the team, in my opinion. Needs to improve his bowling though. I almost wonder if England have got hold of him, and started to coach the natural ability out of him! Still very young though, so plenty of time to fulfil his undoubted potential.

If we can convince Chris Wright to stay and he wants it they should offer him a pathway into a player coaching role. Him staying would be a major plus and as a collective they are really going in the right direction.

This despite the week from oblivion when Nixon went and players decided to leave.

I think we'll only miss Ackerman is CW can be persuaded to stay. Taylor and Thomas need to be given the reigns if they want it as they have really knitted it all together and should take a lot of credit.

The most complete list ive found so far of players going out of contract. Its a little out of with recent signing but very comprehensive and easier to view.

Pick out an Ackermann replacement if you can 🙈

Most of those must of signed contracts by now, especially the Surrey boys. Kiran Carlsson would be a good a replacement if he still hasn't extended, but unlikely to come here. Slim pickings otherwise. Best hope would be to get someone from abroad on a UK passport.

Wright staying is a real bonus.

I make our best XI currently something like the below with backups in brackets:

Patel

Budinger (Evans)

Hill (c)

Handscomb

Mulder

Kimber

Ahmed (Trevaskis)

Cox (wk)

Scriven

Wright

Salisbury (Hull)

This assumes Mulder is fully fit to bowl so we don't need a fourth pace bowler in the XI and Trevaskis is ideal to slot in for Ahmed as needed. Hopefully Swindells signs and is the backup for Cox or perhaps as a specialist bat too. I think Finan is the only other player confirmed as definitely here next season so will need more signings.

My feeling with the last overseas signing is that the weakest position in the side is Patel's opening partner though Budinger may well push on. Put a Marcus Harris in beside Patel and we've a serious side and you could rotate Budinger with Kimber and see if he can make hay against an older ball/tireder attack too.

Overseas spots all tied up. Marcus Harris was amazing for us such a shame he didn’t come back.

Davis, Barnes, Steel, Welch and Lilley all officially released.

Finan leaves by mutual consent a year early.

Club in talks with Wright, Swindells and Evans regarding new contracts.

No word on Kimber who I thought was out of contract?

Shame about Finan started well but always injured. A fast Left arm option is always great to have in a squad especially ours which lacks an out n out pace option.

Hopefully Kimber is re-signed too.
