Maybe I’m missing something from the stream but this lad has got 4 wickets simply from bowling straight? What are we playing at? Rishi must be thinking he’s on a different pitch

Game over. I know we have a never say die attitude but those players simply aren’t playing. Really disappointing, just need to bounce back, hopefully dorsnt derail our season

Not panicking just yet- they're likely going to have to bowl for 2 full days to get us out twice, that will take its toll in this heat. Still think the draw is by far the most likely result at this stage but I'd rather we got a few bonus points.

Looks pretty easy to take those wickets to me.  Haha

This would be a spectacular collapse with the Duke ball under cloud cover, never mind under these circumstances lol

I've not been able to watch since just after Budinger got out and it was doing absolutely **** all. Never seen such serene batting conditions off a new ball.

We're allowed one bad day in an incredible season. The players could do with a break, especially considering our thin squad. Normally cricketers get to rest because of rain delays, but it's been so dry that we've hardly missed a day's play all summer.

I know that it's their job, but I'd be curled up on the pitch mewling pathetically until some kind humanitarian dragged me off by my collar and left me under a running cold tap today. The thought of wearing pads and a helmet....

And after almost two whole days in the dirt under a scorching sun it’s unsurprising that they’ve struggled

this evening. I haven’t even ventured outdoors today!

We’ve probably lost this one but we still have the advantage thanks to a fantastic start to the season. The injuries are a worry though.

I get the point that we're down to the bare bones for this match but the position we're in has in large part been self-inflicted. The team we've selected is simply not balanced - we're playing only 4 frontline batsmen, one of whom plays in a 20/20 style. And on top of that, we inexplicably chose to put Middlesex into bat, when we had the chance to bat ourselves and control the game. Batting would also have given our bowlers a much-needed extended rest after they were flogged for 125 overs in Glamorgan's second innings - asking them to go again after we'd won the toss just made no sense, especially given the conditions and the fact we're using the Kookaburra ball.

Let's hope the chasing pack don't take advantage as we're likely to pick only 2 points up from this game.

I'd be interested to hear any explanation of why we opted to bowl first - anyone heard any interviews etc?

We'll lose Friday. My mates going who is a proper joner and hasn't been to a t20 game yet this season. On a serious note though, I hope we get Ahmed and Scriven back for Friday. I know Mike's not likely.

Even good teams have bad days. The challenge now is to bat for 150 overs in the second innings. That should be the challenge. Do that and it will give them enormous belief for the last 5 games of the 4 day season

Budinger to be out for 10 off 5 balls?

Don’t expect any of them for Friday.

Need these lads to hang around for a while this morning and take a lot of time out.

A Ray Illingworth/Ken Higgs 1975-esque last wicket stand would be good!

Edited to say: Wiki reckons it was actually 1977.   I always thought it was 1975.   ho hum ...
