Really poor losing to Sussex twice. No wins and it’s going to be a real struggle to stay up particularly with our overseas player selection.

We have taken so many years to get back into the top division I think we’ve really squandered a good opportunity through poor decisions by the management.

Not great to lose, but I wouldn't underestimate Sussex. They would be top without the points deduction and in Robinson and Crocombe they have two of the best seam bowlers in the country on current form. Robinson might get called up for England and Crocombe, the Lions.

Good news really, they’ve changed the culture of the club. We may struggle this season but we’re still better off with them. Just need to make better decisions at the toss. :D

Thomas and Taylor extract extension.

The right decision. We need to look at the bigger picture and hopefully the worst scenario is now becoming something of a yoyo club. 23 years away from the top division in an 18-team format is disgraceful, this season was always going to be tough with the step up in quality plus key absences.

Yep, I think the club we need to look at it in terms of example is Worcester. Strong across all formats, produce good young players and always around Div 1, top of Div 2.

The club is definitely moving in the right direction on the field so happy to stick with Thomas and Taylor. Off it, however, we need to do more to become financially sustainable, including building the supporter base. Given the size of the city, crowds are still very low. The location of the ground doesn't help but, assuming a relocation is not possible, we need to look at investing in the facilities at the ground as a way of attracting more people. For example, it would be great to see some new, higher quality stands including reducing the size of the outfield on the Milligan Road side.

Building the supporter base. That will sadly never happen.Same at Derby and Northants.Foolish move to increase membership by over 40% They lost a huge number of supporters who have not come back.

Build some nice retirement flats like they have at Canterbury. I'll take one in 15 years and watch from my balcony as Alex Green takes his 500th first-class wicket

With Hull and Mike both playing, Essex will be scoring at T20 pace when they bat.

Looks like we’re going at that pace so god knows what they’ll do.

When it works with Sol in the side, it makes a massive difference.

No Helm in the Middlesex side- annoying, unless he's gone back due to injury?

Could be he's next cab off the rank if they need a pace bowling sub?

His temperament is the only issue, his ability shouldn’t be questioned. Here he will likely give his wicket away in the 70’s playing a poor shot.

Frustrating either way- not sure how happy he'd be about that either.

Yeah, you can't expect big tons off him with the way he plays.

However, if he gets into his 70s and one of the openers sticks with him, we're in a decent position.

Essex seem very well supported considering there’s no ‘big city’ in their catchment. Are they big in east London or does most of the support come from Chelmsford itself?

Getting put in and having 140 up 20 minutes before lunch is insane, this club is a rollercoaster.

* very unfortunate dismissal there

Imagine they want him fresh for the Blast.

Like Somerset at Taunton, they're the biggest sports club in the town/city where they play.

Big catchment area too. As you point out, East London, plus parts of Herts, Suffolk and probably even Norfolk too.
