Looking with envy at how well Glamorgan are doing. Feels like they've really attacked the season with the surprise factor of a newly-promoted side in a way we haven't.

Broadly, we've looked respectable, but it still feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.

Richard Dawson was a great coaching appointment at the start of last season, he's really transformed them.

Not sure about this season but they also had Jonathan Trott and Ian Harvey on the coaching staff last season

Harvey is on their coaching team this year. Not sure what Trott is up to, usually does some 20 over franchise work.

Very good seam bowling conditions and the Essex bowlers are just dropping on a spot and  moving it around. If we can scrap to around 200 lead and the conditions remain the same then we have a chance.

He was part off the coaching staff when they played at GR last season.

Conditions are perfect for seam bowling and they've got 3 excellent county level seamers who've fully exploited those conditions. The teams we're playing just have more quality than us. I think we'll be lucky to win 1 game. Interesting how much better Glamorgan are doing than us, though. We finished above them last season and also had the better of the draw in Cardiff.
