Fair enough I was wrong about that but this isnt a loan situation we currently own his contract. Also if Hampshire don't beat Notts they are basically relegated anyway.

Good summary in The Cricketer of our reliance on ECB funds:

 

Northamptonshire, for example, were reported to receive 70 per cent of their annual revenue from ECB funds. Leicestershire (67 per cent), Middlesex (64 per cent), Worcestershire (59 per cent) and Derbyshire (56 per cent) weren't far behind. 

By contrast, Surrey (eight per cent), Warwickshire (13 per cent), Hampshire and Lancashire (both 16 per cent) enjoyed far more financial independence. In 2023, Surrey's revenue was £65.39m. Northants' was £5.84m.

I've entered the ballots for the Ashes and it hit home what an advantage having a test ground gives you over the other counties. 

 

The main marketing tactic is to get you to buy a county membership to 'beat the ballot, with unprecedented demand'. Bet they've all made more than us on memberships due to that alone this year, never mind everything else that goes with it.

Bit of news we missed. One match wonder Yadvinder Singh, has signed for Lancashire Cricket Club. That's not the one led by Jimmy Anderson, it's a community based club in the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Inland Region of Woodlands, Pietermaritzburg. Their 2026/7 season is due to start soon.

Nathan Gilchrist has also joined us on loan from Warwickshire for our next two Rothesay County Championship fixtures.

 

In 43 FC games, the 26-year-old averages 9.57 with the bat (HS 41) and 32.09 with the ball (BBI 7-100, BBM 8-74)

That's a good signing, he was on the Lions tour last winter. Going all out to stay up then.

Is the Gilchist loan not a bit suspect though? We are playing Somerset next and Warwickshire would be keen for us to beat them.

After the Cricket Regulator charged LCCC with breaching the ECB Pitch Regulations during the Rothesay County Championship match against Glamorgan, which took place from August 20th to 23rd, we strongly dispute the allegations. We responded to the Cricket Discipline Panel yesterday. As the proceedings are ongoing, we will refrain from providing further comments until the outcome of the hearing is determined.

Warks and the Notts games on the same weekend had less runs scored too. 18 wickets fell in the first two sessions in Glamorgan’s next game.

 

Can we have a ‘**** the ECB’ chant at Trent Bridge later this month?
