We need to demand answers from the Club. They have no choice than to explain themselves.

They already answered this at the meeting. it was a financial decision Cox was on 90k a year Blake will be on half of that.

Thomas and Henderson out!!

You can’t sack Thomas ffs. Misjudgement by the club of a player loved by fans but Thomas is the best coach we’ve had since the 90’s. Turned the club around. Henderson on the other hand…

But he said he volunteered two pay cuts, I bet they didn't mention that. If it's purely about economics we could pick up 11 Mohammed Rizvi's and probably turn over a handsome profit.

Cox has value beyond his pay packet. He barely drops anything, is our second top scorer with the bat and is popular with fans. What kind of message are they sending out with this decision?

I know he said he would take a pay cut but it would still be way more then what the club would want to pay..Blake will be around the 40k mark.Agree they should at least have opened some dialogue. Not the first-time they have took.the cheaper  option they get rid of Nobby O Brien who was one of our best players when he was around the same age as Cox

Think it’s just the wider optics. Cox is incredibly popular with supporters and like others have said, his value is way more than his salary.

Turned it around inspite of him, not because of him. 👍

Absolute nonsense. I’m not blindly defending him, the Cox decision is a stinker but we immediately improved as soon as he took over. We’ve won two trophies, gotten to another final. Handscomb I believe has a big part to play in the turnaround and Jarvis too to an extent (as much as he was revered) but he’s very well regarded within the county circuit.

Henderson can go as far as I’m concerned, he hasn’t covered himself in glory the past 12 months and a change in that role could be a big positive. Handscombe coming back should be a good buffer between the players and Thomas.
I just would like to see a better game plan particularly in the T20 which has been a disaster for a number of years.

Didn’t drop one in red ball. Happy to stand up to the stumps. Clearly cares because it’s obviously not about money. Was also desperate to stay.

It’s a big own goal from those upstairs.

Good news for our finances: Rehan Ahmed has a new one-year central contract and Josh Hull has a development contract (ECB pays 50% of salary and a 25% top up).

Maybe we can renew the contract of one of our best players now. Oh hang on.....

Yes...but good for us financially. Although Alex Green is light years ahead of him

So what percentage of Rehans contract do we get then?

ECB pays the whole lot. In addition he gets match fees for England/Lions appearances.

We need an opening bat or will either of Gumbs/Eskanazi be decent enough in Division 2 to open with Sol?

I'd be ok if they wanted to give Gumbs a run and see how he goes.

Eskinazi as a plan B might be ok but would prefer us to look at someone like Savin Perera who could add some competition to the top order.

It would be nice if they developed him this time.

To be fair they've applied the standard ECB fast bowler development plan, steady backwards progress with stress fracture due soon.

Really hope we see him back to his best next season. How great would it be to have a homegrown pair of Hull and Green opening the bowling.

They gave Gumbs a three year deal, so they are putting faith in him. By all accounts he has a strong work ethic.

Most top order returns were below par in the second half of the season due to the dry pitches.

So he's playing for us for free? Mind blown!

Surrey have just signed Henry Crocombe but he won't cost them anything because he's also just been given a 2 year central contract.

I can see it at times, last few matches he was better, got some rhythm, obviously his stature and left arm decent pace. Its worth a punt. I cant defend his statistics, dont wish to but I think if he actually played regularly and bowled decent length spells we may see something.

Like Rehan just doesnt bowl enough. Big year for them, back them but actually give them a proper go. Then if it carries on as it is at least weve given them a chance
