Friends of Grace Road used to run coaches, didn't they?

It is probably too short notice.

Yup, it's all rigged against making the tournament a success but, tbh, County could use their socials more and earlier in the week, canvassed opinion for demand for coach/es down there if we were to play there.

Pop up a weather forecast for Sunday. Include a cuppa and a bacon roll on the bus. Match ticket included. Out at 5.30am and back for midnight. Run the whole thing at break even. See if 50-100 punters fancy it.

County is small enough, communal enough to engage with its.followers in a very informal, almost non league way.

The latest 'The Cricketer's County Conversation' podcast features Cam Ponsonby and Nick Friend in conversation with our own James Taylor. Well worth a listen.

Maybe I'm in a small minority but a day at Grace Road is so relaxing, value for money and enjoyable. If everyone who supported LCFC tried a couple of days a season down there it would transform the club.

Could County offer 1 free ticket for each LCFC STH per season, it might boost a few crowds put some money in the coffers of the club shop, The Meet etc. and get some coming back for more.

And indeed the rugger buggers. Given rugby is traditionally a more middle class sport, astonishing there isn’t greater crossover

Complete disgrace at least one of the two games is not being shown on TV either. It's a freakin semi final!

I couldn't believe it last year when they had the whole bank holiday to have the semi and put it on a Tuesday.

Combined with the minimal coverage, they are absolutely trying to kill the format in favour of the hundred and more T20.

On a side note, am I read that right that it's a month until the final?

I agree but I don't know how practical it is to book a fairly long distance coach at 36 hours notice. Booking before then cancelling isn't a great look either had we lost.

This is on the ECB, plain and simple.

I think the ground is an issue in terms of attracting more fans. The facilities are pretty rudimentary and the playing area is so vast that on the Milligan Road side of the ground the stands are so far from the pitch that nobody wants to sit there. If we could do the planned redevelopment with a smaller playing area, I think it would boost the club a lot.

I agree entirely and from a playing point of view, clearing the ropes more often is always a crowd pleaser.

Now Birmingham are not going to the hundred final tomorrow, any chance Rishi Patel's going to back opening for County tomorrow. Could certainly do with him at the top of the order.

But this has been an issue for as long as I've been supporting them, which is over 40 years. Various schemes down the years such as flats at the Milligan Road end, which never happened and it's quite a while now since they were given the covenant by LCC, allowing them to redevelop. It's the largest county ground and there are separate nets as well, which most counties don't have, so the space is there, but where is the money coming from?

It's (for me) quite an interesting dichotomy. County's support is overwhelmingly City supporting. Barely a Tigers fan in the house.

I think it's largely to do with the ground in a traditionally working class southern suburb of the city. Most cricket grounds seem to be in the posher districts; West Bridgford, Headingly, Edgbaston and as such hoover in that middle-class support. Whereas Leicestershire's middle-class align themselves with Tigers and totally ignore the cricket.

I wonder how different County would be if their ground and history was based around Stoneygate/Knighton/Oadby?

Believe that area is the corner is where the flats are going.

Edit - in the ground plans, I don’t believe it actually will happen.

Not sure giving away around 20k free season tickets in a ground that holds only hold around 5k would work besides quite a few of our members are season ticket holders down the city anyway so would just take money out of the club. Also we can't ignore the fact the cricket is a very niche sport that sadly many think is boring Bradley Walsh said recently he would sooner watch paint dry all day then attend a cricket match many share that kind of view

He said give them one free ticket not a free season ticket

Apologies if this has been dealt with earlier in the thread, but how is this being shown?

Is it on the old youtubes or is it another pay thing I need to sort out?

We're the only county currently operating a paywall so can't see why it wouldn't be free in Somerset's jurisdiction.

Holland back in for Green, chasing again.

Very solid looking Somerset side.

I found Hampshire’s side a lot more intimidating on paper but of course Somerset will be a tough nut at home. We play better away and we have quality and match winners all through the line up
