I was born in England but my parents are from southern Cyprus so look at all these immigration issues and calls of racism when something goes wrong with intrigue.

My opinion is that if someone not from this shores wants to come over to England and live, for whatever reason, they should start to learn the language and do there best to integrate with the locals. If you dont do this, all that happens is a divide will appear and it will be an us and them type of mentality. I for one am proud of the Cypriots who have come to England (most of whom are in North London ) because not only have we integrated with the locals over the last 40 years but we have actually become part of the country by actually putting plenty in. People like me dont class themselves as exclusively Greek Cypriot or English, we are both! Also, most of us are workers and love having our own businesses and have put plenty into the industry and community with this.

However, there are plenty of immigrants that come to England for all sorts of reasons and none fo them benefit this country. I know some Polish people that are here just to milk the sytstem and send money back home. Their families are not in a war torn area but the government lets people like this in and they have a field day taking the pi$$. Im obviously not having a pop at all Polish people but basically giving an example of people that are here to rip this country off. These people should be weeded out and simply sent back home. It is far too easy to come to England and live and sponge of the system whilst some of the poor old grandads and grannys who took part in saving this country from German rule over half a century ago have to live off peanuts whilst the more street-wise freeloaders come in and get all the extras. (BTW, as a former reatil manager for about 12 years up until Jan of this year I can tell you that immigrants who couldnt speak the lingo would come into the stores I have worked in with letters from the council and vouchers and would walk out with cookers, washing machines etc).

The government has got to get out of the limp-wristed way that we look at immigrants and vet who comes in like they do in the US these days and obviously that would free up the space for the real immigrants who are illegal and need our help. Kick out the trouble makers who spout hatred about our country and stop fannying about!!

My Grandad came to these shores with nothing in the early 60's to try and better his life from India.He worked all over the foundaries in England before settling in Leics. My parents etc.. had to work damn hard under terrible circumstances to try and attain a decent standard of living.They integrated into society,and made sure we respected all.We have a mix of western and asian cultures and beliefs.

NOw the Gment has seriously messed up with their foreign policy or lack off.

Its all one world and ANYONE has the right to go ANYWHERE they want BUT they should be going for he right reasons!

Kind of I guess... in a town not a million miles from where I live there has, over the last couple of years, been a dramatic increase in immigrants from Eastern Europe. This has, locally, put a tremendous strain on amenities (doctors surgeries, dentist, schools etc) who are struggling to cope with increased demand.

I certainly don't see this as being the 'fault' of anyone who has recently moved to the area though - more that any blame should be apportioned to the Government / Local Authority and their woefully inadequate planning.

how many Islam terrorists do you know personally? Are you say that ALL people that follow Islam are terrorists and women that wear veils are covering up something? Should brides be arrested at the altar for wearing a veil? I agree that any terrorist should be arrested and convicted but they are not gulty until they are arrested tried and convicted. Their crime is terorism not being a Muslim or whatever faith they choose to follow. Deporting terrorists is a bit lenient don't you think? I would rather have the present policy where they are imprisoned.

If I commit a crime, the headlines on the papers wil read "A 23 year old muslim man from Braunstone, Leicester have been arrested for armed robbery bla bla..... ". My religion has to be made public. Its like an unwritten rule for the media in this country. Its ridicolous and its getting on my nerves. Try and read the bbc.co.uk/news and once in a while when there is nothing special to report, they'll play the muslim card. Some of you will say Im being paranoid and shit, but this is how I and majority of muslims feel.

There are headlines about blacks, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Asians, etc. You will never see a headline say "An average white British guy was today arrested," but you will hear "A black teenager was today arrested".

This unfortunate burden on any minority group means they have to act in a more honourable manner than the majority, as any misdemeanour can leave their own community burdened. Sad but true and an extra responsibility of being a minority group in society.

As a specialist headline writer in my sub-editing days you don't see "a black teenager was today arrested" because headlines aren't written like that and because responsible newspapers have policies which would filter such headlines out if they were.

Even the slant of such a headline could only be used in exceptional circumstances where the word "black" could be justified as relevant.

For instance ""Island's Only Black Teenager Arrested" might be justfied. The story is only made interesting because it is an unusual or exceptional event and because it might relate to other factors like, say, a police chief's determination to rid the island of blacks (or whites in the case of, say, Zimbabwe and its farmers).

Such a policy would apply equally if the island's only white teenager or only celebrity was arrested.

The headline might still be vetoed if it was felt the subsequent story did not make the "black", "white" or "celebrity" element important enough.

Similarly newspaper headlines don't refer to Muslims, Jews or Christians unless they are relevant to the story and can be justified as such.

Headline reference to clerics preaching hatred would be no different if it were an Anglican or a Muslim.

It's just that I cannot recall a case of any Anglicans, Catholics or Sikhs doing such a thing. They would lose their jobs, I imagine, as should be the case with anyone who preaches hatred in respect of anyone or anything.

Everyone feels hatred at times - whether for murderers, rapists, paedophiles or Leeds.

But going out and preaching/advocating/inciting hatred is appalling, dangerous and a threat to peaceful co-existence.

Of course the media will say "Muslims adapt Sharia Law in Dewsbury". It is perfectly relevant. It isn't Christians or Sikhs adopting such a system that is being talked about.

If farmers in the south west went their own way it would certainly attract the headline "Land workers adopt own laws" in just the same way.

But you would never get a headline about an "average white British guy" because they don't exist. And the phrase plus its subject would be more of a sentence than a headline.

Specialists publications might be different, I rarely read them, but would still be subject to law.

But then if you buy a Labour, Consersative, Muslim, Christian or BNP publication you would know from the off what the slant is likely to be and you wouldn't normally buy Motor Cycle News if you wanted to read about cars or a Muslim publication if you didn't want to read a Muslim poiint of view..
