Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 you think we got 650k for mcarthy £650k minimum! We get more for apps/promotion!
The Reverend Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 This would be a good move for Hughes - back to a level he can play at really. Good luck to the lad.
Geo V Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I would have thought that we would want at least 150k for Hughes in this market so to agree 50k is a sure fire sign that MA wants to start getting rid of some of these players of the wage bill. Lets hope he goes and is joined by some of the others quickly.
dandannieldanok Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Gone greedy Come on Forest, help us out here! What a tit, piss off you lightweight
davieG Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Gone greedy Come on Forest, help us out here! Talks to bring former Rangers midfielder Stephen Hughes to Hearts have apparently broken down because personal terms cannot be agreed, it's been reported today. Hughes, currently with Leicester City, was apparently one of several targets identified by Stevie Frail before the closed-season. It's thought that the transfer fee would only be in the region of £70,000, but it's Hughes wage demands that would appear to be causing the problem. To be perfectly honest if the guy's asking for too much money then Hearts should tell him where to go. He was never particularly great at Rangers and by all accounts hasn't exactly hit the heights with Leicester, so personally I think it's doubtful that he would improve our midfield anyway. Hearts have already signed another lightweight midfielder in Michael Stewart this week, so to add yet another player like this to Stewart, Bruno Aguiar and Larry Kingston would not make a whole lot of sense to me. It's plainly obvious that the sort of midfielder that Hearts need is one with a bit of steel who can break up the play. Without that I can't see us being able to take real control of a game against the better sides in the league and the sooner that our coaching staff (or whoever makes these decisions) realises that the better.
Blue Bob Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I know we signed him for £100k but anyone who watched the Wolves game would be amazed that we can still get a fee for him. I think he was a very poor player for us. I just hope his wage demands dont make the deal fall through.
Jack Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 He's awful. 50k Is far much more than he is worth in my eyes.
Webbo Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 He's awful. 50k Is far much more than he is worth in my eyes. Don't knock it, we were talking about having to pay him off a few weeks ago.
Blue Bob Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Don't knock it, we were talking about having to pay him off a few weeks ago. I agree quite a result if we pull it off.
Tevez Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Not a huge fan of Hughes, good luck to him though. Thanks for the equaliser against Tottenham.
Guest Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 http://www.hearts.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=72159 I like the part in this where the author says he doesn't class Levein as a poor judge of player :w00t:
Blue Bob Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Shame we did not know he could go for £50k, we could have had a whip round at a match - everyone chuck in £2 and we could have been rid of the tit months ago
Blue Bob Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 This one seems to have gone a bit quiet - does anyone know any more??? Heard he wanted too much money, is this still the case?
lookwhaticando Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 According to the Mail, he signed for Hearts... the Mail isn't the only source, either, it's posted in a few places. Shame it's not on our OS or the Hearts OS yet... so we can't consider it official.
Dr The Singh Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 According to the Mail, he signed for Hearts... the Mail isn't the only source, either, it's posted in a few players. If true, good for him, he ws surplus here!!
DB11 Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Usually, I wish players luck but he has just been tripe for LCFC (except for his goal against Spurs which I loved ) so I just want him to leave LCFC first.
city1993 Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Bye bye hughesie, Hearts are even more stupid as I first expected.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Can anyone remember that Hearts fan coming on here and slagging City off about year and a half or so ago, especially when we still had Levein and they had Romanov putting his money in??? If they buy Hughes, it will have come and bit that idiot back on the bum, considering how the fortunes of both clubs have suddenly changed and they have to buy Hughes. Even funnier if it's Forest as according to BBC gossip site !!
lookwhaticando Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 Mark McGhee hasn't conceded defeat yet in the race to sign Hughes. While Hearts' offer was accepted, he doesn't appear to have been formally unveiled by Hearts yet - so perhaps he hasn't agreed terms as one or two papers had suggested earlier. Either way, with two parties strongly interested, we can't fail to get rid of him really... if only the same could be said of DeVries, Maybury, Douglas, Kenton, etc etc.
Guest Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 please god, somebody just take the useless fecker and have done with it
