Ric Flair Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Marcus Bent can get bent, we don't need him! He's the same sort of player as Elvis but stays on his feet slightly more, but still unneeded with all our strikers here. Oh yes, I could see Elvis scoring 10+ goals in one season in the Premiership.
mancunianfox Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 More from Outfox on Talkingballs. I'm doing a piece on McLeod for Wednesday's MK News and have just contacted Pete Winkelman to get his views on interest in the striker - and any other 'bits' he might like to talk about. About McLeod, he said that Leicester WERE interested - but ONLY AT THE £800/900k price originally quoted by the Dons (in early June). He said more clubs contacted him - and so the price "went up" ! Leicester "backed off" when it went over £1.2m ! He had heard that Leicester were hoping to get a good price on the sale of a striker (Fryatt ?) - and get McLeod "in on the cheap" ! Reading betwen the lines, it sounds like City hoped to be £500k up on the sale of Fryatt and the purchase of McLeod - when one price 'matched' the other, they 'pulled out'. PS The Dons still hope to sell McLeod for £1.5m to an "un-named Championship club" (Charlton ?) before August.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Its a great shame it looks like like where gona miss out on a League Two striker..... I'd rather give De Vries another crack tbh...
Maybes Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Charlton are being mugged off. First varney now mcleod ...silly fools.
Dames Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Leicester are set to sign MK Dons striker Izale McLeod. (Daily Mirror) Do we really need him now ?
teblin Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Leicester are set to sign MK Dons striker Izale McLeod. (Daily Mirror)Do we really need him now ? surely that means someone is leaving?
RedOnRed Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 On a personal level, I would imagine McLeod would prefer to go to Leicester for the location and familiarity with the manager then Charlton. He was born in Birmingham and played for Derby so his roots are in the midlands.
Master Fox Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Leicester are set to sign MK Dons striker Izale McLeod. (Daily Mirror)Do we really need him now ? Yes we do. We need another striker.
Thracian Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Yes we do. We need another striker. I don't know about McLeod but we need another striker. Even if Fryatt blazes the trail so many have suggested I've no faith whatsoever in Carl Cort. If he were a racehorse or a greyhound he'd probably have been put down. In fact I'm docking the point I gave MA for signing him (+16.5 now). He can have it back if the bloke shows up fit for any period and does himself some justice.

He’s been quoted in saying that he highly rates the lad. So with Hume and DJ we need at least another decent striker, because Fryatt and Cort are just not up to it. I’m not sure McLeod is the answer, but personally I’d feel much happier with him in the squad as opposed to Cort and Fryatt.
Jimmy Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Daily Star say he's coming for £1.5M i don't want him, especially not for that price there are better strikers around for less, i heard that Stern John can be got for 600k and he's a better option then McLeod

meadwell5 Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Stern John? Stern John, what on earth!!! 600k, more like 6p.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Stern John, what on earth!!! 600k, more like 6p. I wouldn't trade stern John for 6************ (whatever) penny shrimps, nor 6 even, maybe 3 or 4 but not 6
Nick Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 I am not anti-Izzy. I am pro-Izzy I am anti-Izzy if it is at the expense of Fryatt. I WANT BOTH. I'm not sure how good Izzy will be in this division, It's all a bit Adi Akin-buy-ee to me. I feel I have to put my faith in the club managers decision...its just that proven championship quality I would have preferred. I like Thracians comment about Carl Cort, he would have to have been put down by now....his pride wouldn't surely allow him to go into a rescue home and nobody would choose him as a family pet because of his size, ego and running costs. Such a big dog and with the vets bills, feeding, brushing and temperement-maintainance, there will always be a cuter family pet in the adjacent cages. The problem is that there is also always one last punter at the track saying he's got a couple of races left in him. It's not the size of your basket, It's how quickly you can get up out of it without letting the trainer see your failing arthritic back legs. Knackers yard, anyone ? (Graphic methodology greatly appreciated.) N.

meadwell5 Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Mirror hasn't often been wrong, it does seem to be MM's favourite paper to give info to. Think we need to give izzy a go, 1.5m will not be badly spent if he bags 15-20 goals. fighting for places is not a bad thing, most teams have 4 strikers, we have 5 but like most of us are saying cort does not count. Look at Brum last year, they had 5-6 strikers and they got promoted. Should be today or tomorrow i guess when he arrives
Ric Flair Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Mirror hasn't often been wrong, it does seem to be MM's favourite paper to give info to. Correct. Just think back to the rumours of James Chambers, Clemence and DJ Campbell. All linked and then 2 or 3 weeks later they pitched up.
Nick Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Mirror hasn't often been wrong, it does seem to be MM's favourite paper to give info to. Yeah, you are right Babylon. If he comes, I reckon 1 million plus an extra 500k if we go up and a 10% sell on clause.....sound about right? N.

I don't think you could keep all four happy though so one would have to make way unfortunately.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 I'm not sure we could keep Hume, Campbell and McLeod happy let alone Fryatt. I was very surprised to see the link in the papers today. I would be pleased if we signed him and wouldn't mind if it meant Fryatt leaving but there's no need to go through all of that yet again. I will be a bit annoyed if we go into the season without signing more players down the left side though.
