Foxes Capture Cort

It's only this season he's been crap. His previous 2 seasons at Wolves although were blighted by injuries at times, still resulted in him getting in to double figures goals wise.

On a side note, does anyone know exactly what sort of injuries Cort suffers regularly from?

Hamstring, Ankle and Knee according to Wikipedia.

Pretty underwhelmed... but he hasnt cost us anything and I would not imagine he 'd be collecting hefty wages either, I still trust we'll be looking to invest in a proven (what ever that word really means) striker.

From Wikipedia

He scored on his home debut against Derby for Newcastle, but unfortunately struggled with hamstring problems and underwent surgery after only a few appearances for his new club. He did eventually return to the first team in March 2001, and went on to score five goals in ten appearances before the season ended.

In 2001-02, injury ruined his season again. Carl was ruled out until March due to injuries to his ankle and knee. He travelled to the USA for specialist treatment and was treated by the same surgeon who treated future team-mate Joleon Lescott. The injuries appeared to take their toll, and Cort struggled to make an impact in the Premiership. Having recovered from injury, he moved to Molineux for £2million during January 2004. He scored 5 goals for his new club that season. In the 2004-05 season, his form improved and he scored 16 goals in 40 appearances.

Wolves had an indifferent season in 2005-06. Cort began the season well, but injury interrupted his season again, and by the end of May, Cort had scored 11 goals in 24 appearances.

He is the older brother of Leon Cort, currently playing for Crystal Palace.. Palace also bid £700,000 for Carl at the time of signing Leon. Carl claimed to have rejected the move, when it later turned out he had failed a medical. He was released by Wolves in May 2007.

I thought I would be disapointed if we signed him but I'm actually mildly optimistic. The whole signing basically hinges on whether we can keep him fit or not, so we better hope Dave Rennie is as good as Allen says he is!!

Is it indigestion that's blighted his career then.

Potentially a very good signing, I don't think Corts had a manager since Kinnear thats really pushed him as Wolves fans have said he can be lazy. Allen hopefully can get the best out of him and he can stay fit.

If we are predominantly aiming to pick up freebies then we have to take 1 or 2 risks. If we can sling him on for 20 minutes when we are chasing a game or looking for someone to hold the ball up the field when we are under pressure, then the guys perfect. He'll score a few goals aswell. Like previously mentioned, success margin will come entirely down to the lads fitness. Fingers crossed!

Not convinced by this at all.

Not a good signing

We need to at least sign one top quality striker, and at the moment we don’t have one. Mid table beckons if we don’t get one

Martin might get him playing.

Quite pleased with this actually.

I tell you what, he's been awful the last couple of years, but hopefully as I say, Martin can get him playing because he does have ability.

exactly this is not a bad signing as he maybe comes with no pressure or expectations. Cort/hume? Cort/Fryatt

Cort/hume sounds quite deadly a might work. Little and large

at least we have a player with a bit of height up front.

MON certainly liked him. I went to a fans forum once where people were shouting out suggestions at him for a new striker and he definitely said he liked the look of Cort.

BBC report claims here turned down an offer from a prem club... makes me wonder about wages

I was gonna post that all the announcements have been made at 10am...

guess this was no different.

N'Gotty & Neilson were both announced just after 1pm on Monday.

Everybody 's not as pissed off as I thought! I hope we do give him a chance though. Doubt MA thinks Cort is our answer to goal scoring-maybe/hope he's got his eye on another striker. Like how MA said he'll push him to get the best out of him.

"I believe I'm going to get the best out of him. I'm going to work him hard and push him to maximise his ability. Then the ball is in his court."

Doesn't sound like he's gonna take any shit. So long as he's free, I don't see the problem even if he turns out to be awful.

Not convinced...but as others have said, cost nowt.

I would see Wolves as a club with similar ambitions to ours yet we are signing a player that they are happy to let go!
