The People's Hero Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 183 posts is immense. How has he managed it. I've been at it pretty much hammer and tongs and I'm nowhere near! Where are all these posts?
The People's Hero Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 I love it when articles use the word 'capture'. It's as if we lured him in with some 'kiddy porn' or other 'contraband' allegedly of course, and then pulled the rope and let the cage fall on him! Hahahahahahahaha! You're ours now Cort! OURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Do you actually worry about that then?Do you have a good reputation/image to upkeep that we just don't know about? Yours Acerbically, James. (23) Yes, I feel like I'm wasting my time (even though its not my time techincally) If I'm top of the posting list. I know of one other poster who also feels this way besides myself.

Sods Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 What an absolute bummer this is, wayne cort (carls brother) used to play for brackley town. As i watch them i talked to most of the players, but now wayne cort has left.

Sods Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Are you some kind of celebrity stalker or something? nope but if wayne cort was still at brackley i would be able to ask about leicester things that others wouldnt no then post on here and everyone would benefit.
City Fan Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 RN Fox on TB says this: At last we have an announcement - I was beginning to get some stick over that one. Waiting for the next few and MA is at the stadium now...... Looks like today's action isn't over yet.
City Fan Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 And now: The next announcement should be Jonathon Hayes - unless he creeps in through the back door.
potter3 Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Decent enough signing on a free. I bet his wages are pretty high though.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 And now:The next announcement should be Jonathon Hayes - unless he creeps in through the back door. How underwhelming. I relise we aren't Bayern Internatizonale Roma Madrid FC but our signings so far all have big question marks next to them.
Gené and Tonic Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Have to agree. Just got to hope that we'll bring in 3 or 4 'star' players over the course of the summer
The Bear Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Wolves fan here. Hmmm, the enigma that is Carl Cort!! Great when he's fully fit, a source of frustration when he's not. He will undoubtedly score goals when he is match fit, but at Wolves that usually took him 4-5 games after an injury before you saw the best of him. Will win you headers all day around the area the box, though he never seems to jump for them but relies on backing into the defender which means he gives a few free-kicks away. He also has a great sense of timing to get in the box at the right time when the team breaks forward. He has a bit of a dodgy first touch nowadays and his legs seem to go all over the place!! But if he gets hold of it, he holds the ball up good and does the 'lay it off and turn to goal' thing quite well still. Though I'm amazed he's passed a medical with you to be honest. Last year Palace had a £1.5m bid accepted but there was strong inside info that he failed his medical there so the deal broke down. I'm not even sure what his injury status is at the moment, but he's been out for most of last season for us, so I assume he has recovered. Fitness will definitely be an issue with him, so you'd better have a good coach. His main problem is he takes so long to get going again after injuries but if you can keep him fit then you've got a good player for nothing.
HankMarvin Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 maybe this is the difference between a experienced premiership manager and a lower league one, would a ex premiership manager have gone 4 cort? where as ma worked the lower leagues so it seems like more of atrractive prospect personaly i think not a bad squad player but lets hope we invest in a qaulity striker as goals get you out of this division
Simi Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Mixed feelings about this transfer. Obviously if we can keep him fit he will do a good job, but keeping him fit has proved very hard for his past clubs, I'm sure Newcastle regret spending that 7m on him. It makes it better that we've spent no money on him, however I doubt his wages came cheap with four other clubs after him. I'd be much more happy with this signing if we got another striker in who is going to get us 20 odd goals, but I'm sure that will come later on along with a couple of decent midfielders. On a free though, we could of done worse.
Stevosevic Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 I think he'll turn out to be a good signing. Free transfer, hes not old, who knows, MA might get him playing. There's plenty of managers out there who have turned round the fortunes of a striker, no reason why it cant happen here.
Ric Flair Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 maybe this is the difference between a experienced premiership manager and a lower league one, would a ex premiership manager have gone 4 cort?where as ma worked the lower leagues so it seems like more of atrractive prospect personaly i think not a bad squad player but lets hope we invest in a qaulity striker as goals get you out of this division Think you've made a very good point there. That's why you often see injury plagued players drop down the leagues and somehow regain their fitness. Whether it's down to the drop in level of football as well? I'm not sure, that certainly has been the case with Bridges and Lee Morris. As i've said, if we get 20-30 games out of him next season we should be looking at 10 or so goals, which is a valuable asset to have if a slightly un-reliable one.
BartonFox Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Should Cort survive the pre-season boot camp then we might have got lucky here, as the fat boys from the Black Country say he is quality when fit. Reading elsewhere he hasn't been fit or managed properly for a long time that is the biggest challenge ahead. In Martin we trust

Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 His biggest asset is his fitness. He's always been capable of playing 40+ games a season, which is harder than it sounds when you consider how injury-hit some players are. Thing is, although he will play pretty much every game, he's not the tallest and might not score goals. His quality is questionable. His wages will be virtually zilch but I think it's a shame we didn't pay out a massive wedge for him.
Simi Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 He'll go over on that knee before long and that will be all for at least 4 months. Keeping Carl Cort fit is impossible. How longs his deal? 2 Years
Stevosevic Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Is he fit to start pre-season or is he currently carrying a niggling injury? Obviously nothing major or he wouldn't pass the medical.
Stevosevic Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Hes scored 31 in 94 for Wolves, i imagine a fair few of those appearances were as a substitute as well due to his injuries. A goal every three games is not to be sniffed at.
