What are people's expectations?

My expectations are fairly straightforward:

=============================

I award this post +0.5 for coverage, -1.0 for verbosity, +1.5 for hope and -3.0 for the lack of a coherent points system.

Don't forget -1 point for not getting all the way to Z.

I'm expecting more from the team than last season, in terms of passion, committment and results. I'm not expecting it to be pretty.

What I want is to come away from a game with a bit of pride and optimism. Ok, we'll lose a few, but if we do I want it to be because we were beaten by the better team on the day and not because the players weren't up for it. I don't like to come away thinking that a team was there for the beating and yet again our players failed to show (metaphorically speaking, of course).

Excellent there seems to be some reasonable expectations this season, which means apart from the prepubesent numpties on here we'll all get along fairly well.

It is also apparent just how piss poor Rob Kelly was and the way he set up the side. Although I do question why Thracian is looking for us to adapt to other teams, surely you mean in the positive sense to beat them :dunno: Otherwise we'll be repeating what Kelly did and that is the whole season up the spout.

I expect us to regain that never say die attitude and not just raise our game for fancy cup games like we have over recent years. I also think it's fair to demand a bit of quality as well. I know we haven't got endless amounts of money, but there are still some quality players we could pick up for the right price. I hope we go for quality rather than quantity, because with Allen's passion and enthusiasm if we do get some injuries and are short of numbers then we have a very good academy to use in emergencies. Allen has a track record of getting players to punch above their weight so throwing the odd academy lad in won't hurt.

"One thing i will say is money does not equal success". Especially 4 million that wont even by a peanut on fifa 07 no matter in real life. we will be relying on cheap or frees. oh and my statement also suggsts that big parachute money does not equal success either.

my expectations this year are very low tbh, in the past iv been far to optimistic and unrealistic and i havent gained much support from everyone.

so to be realisitc i think a mid-table finish will be where wel end up, second year will be our year (i hope) i just cant see us being to much different with what we have dione so far. im really not majorly impressed, n'gotty is going to have lost his legs just like AJ had, and at the abck that is going to be a vital floor for us.

Mid-table this year

promotion the next

P.s- just to add to the point i made earlier, high profile names doesnt equal success either, the CCC is a much faster and more physically chalenging league then the premiership and this is why many old players who try to make the drop end up dropping further into like league two.

Return of some 'actual' legends at half time.

Iwan Roberts, Ian Marshall, Ian Ormondroyd, Kevin Russell.

You get the picture.

Tell you what, ignore my last post.

If that happens I'm going to every match next season.

Agreed.

We need to pick some dates as soon as the fixture list is out.

I am all over this idea.

All over it.

Wouldn't mind effort and good football from a functioning team for the season, and a promotion push with the developing team the year.

You can see it in the signings so far - good footballers but no one overly fancy, expected really for what Milan would be looking to do.

Too many people think a sugar daddy means throwing a shitload of cash to get high profile footballers. It's just as much the culture of the club, and the expectation. I think Milan's solved that expectation question that's been lacking in recent years. Only thing the fans have had to look forward to is shite football with the possibility of a mediocre performance that would see us safe.

..it's all starting to change now though, eh?!

Bit by bit, more and more people are starting to talk in terms of "going up" as if that's what we've been discussing all along.

I give it until September until people are vocalising their disquiet because we aren't leading the division.

Given the ambition shown and the money spent on players like Ka'abi, Clemence and DJ Campbell, I think that's fair enough. You can't expect to spend £1.6million on a striker in this division and then idly talk about sculling around mid-table quite happily all season.
