Babylon Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Ohhh god i don't care anymore!!!! Who ever we sign, whether it be DJ, Fowler, McLeod or hold on to Fryatt, NO-ONE knows how they will perform this season. They could all be crap and make Hammond look good or they could be Championship top scorers!! Who ever we get in I will be supporting to do well this season! It's Milan's money, if he wants to spend 2million of it on one player then let him! Just be happy we ain't signing a bunch of Scottish rejects again!

Quite, no one does know, there nothing wrong with having an opinion on how they might though, and if the clubs throwing 2 million pounds at certain players I don't really see what wrong with commenting on it, this is a football forum after all.
Kent Fox Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 DJ Campbell is NOT worth £2M. Bugger off to inflated transfer fees and all that mullarky. He is not worth that much. End of.
Brainy Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 DJ Campbell is NOT worth £2M.Bugger off to inflated transfer fees and all that mullarky. He is not worth that much. End of. So when Fowler moves to Australia, we'll be stuck with Hume, Cort, Hammond and de Vries, maybe Fryatt if he doesnt leave. I can see one player there who will score +10 goals this season. Campbell scored 9 goals in a season where he came off the bench more often than he started. It may be your opinion, but for christ sake if he comes, give him a chance.
Maybes Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 2 million blimey. Thats a lot of money to be spending on him. Cant see milan spending that much on him
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 July 2007 Author Posted 16 July 2007 It'll be quite funny having watched Eastwood move for £1.5m and Sharp and Varney both go for £2m if we then spend a similar amount on either Campbell or McLeod. Especially after how many members of this forum have said we wouldn't be spending this sort of fee on players.

Firsly it would appear, if rumours be true, that Fowler is offto Cardiff. Quite frankly I'd like to think I could score 10 goals in a season and I am crap! All I'm saying is that he is in no way, worth £2m. If he comes, of course I will give him a chance. I didn't say otherwise.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 I wish people would open their eyes and realise that DJ Campbell isn't our only option. Some of you are going on like it's either DJ Campbell or bust. There are better strikers out there for £1-2 million than Dudley, if you did a poll there would be a majority backing that up. We musn't waste £1-2 million and Campbell is a massive gamble, i'd want a more reliable horse than DJ for a £1-2 million stake that's for sure. Simple as that.

You appear to be mistaking us for Milan Mandaric and/or Martin Allen. DJ seems to be the one we are pursuing relentlessly.

And the fans seem fairly content with the signing. I'm alarmed that there aren't more questioning the deal given the prospective price tag. I am taking it upon mesen to do a list of better strikers who'd cost less. Keep them peeled, Fez.

I'm not really that arsed about the money. Milan seems to be chucking it about like a careless javelin thrower and at the moment the papers seem to think it's heading straight for DJ Campbell's upper body. I don't have a point, just a rather splendid cross-forum reference that maybe seven people will understand.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Better strikers than DJ Campbell that could be signed for less than £1.5 million. Francis Jeffers Paul Gallacher Heidar Helguson Darius Vassell (granted it would be a massive coup for him to drop a division) Dong Fangzhuo (on loan) Jason Euell Lomana Lua Lua Stephen Elliott Carlton Cole Mikkel Forssell Dexter Blackstock Alan Lee Danny Webber Grzegorz Rasiak Jay Bothroyd That doesn't include any lower league players, no players from abroad and no players available on a free transfer such as Fowler, Hasselbaink, etc.

Jeffers <shudders>
Daggers Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Francis Jeffers I'm saying nothing except...FRANCIS JEFFERS? Then I will be going to a corner and smirking.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 I dunno about some of them but I get your point.Jeffers <shudders> Still rather have any of those over Campbell and some of them on that list are fairly mediocre themselves. Blackstock could bag in a decent team.

I wouldnt say Lee or Blackstock are any better than DJ, probably worse IMO. Vassell, Cole and possibly LuaLua are likely to be unrealistic.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 I'm saying nothing except...FRANCIS JEFFERS? Then I will be going to a corner and smirking. A better goals to games ratio than Dudley will ever muster at Premiership and Championship level. Bless him.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 July 2007 Author Posted 16 July 2007 Better strikers than DJ Campbell that could be signed for less than £1.5 million.Francis Jeffers - meh Paul Gallagher - you sure? haven't seen him mentioned anywhere this summer - would be a good signing for a Championship club if available Heidar Helguson - agreed but a bit old maybe for Mandaric's wishes Darius Vassell (granted it would be a massive coup for him to drop a division) - it would be a massive coup for him to... Dong Fangzhuo (on loan) - never seen him play but can we have him and DJ? DJ and the Dong. Perfect. Jason Euell - no thank youuuuuuuuuu. Lomana Lua Lua - doubt we'd get him. Stephen Elliott - possibly. don't think there's much between them. Carlton Cole - no better than DJ. Mikkel Forssell - injury-prone goat. Dexter Blackstock - just marry the bloke already. I think you overrate him a bit. He'd be alright. Alan Lee - no. Danny Webber - no. Grzegorz Rasiak - if we had a cat in hells chance of signing him i'd snap their hands off. don't think he's an option at all. Jay Bothroyd - noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. o. That doesn't include any lower league players, no players from abroad and no players available on a free transfer such as Fowler, Hasselbaink, etc.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 A better goals to games ratio than Dudley will ever muster at Premiership and Championship level. Bless him. Francis Jeffers is just a Danny Cadamateri people decided to throw money at. EDIT: With big **** off ears to-boot.

Blackstock and Lee both scored more goals at this level than Campbell did last season and both were in fairly crap teams. DJ possibly played less games than them, but i'm not convinced by his record.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Alan Lee is a fairly good player at this level.

A Ian Wright/Les Ferdinand/Alan 'original' Smith/Freddy Eastwood non-league special wannabe that people decided to throw too much money at? EDIT: With a crap tattoo on his neck to boot.
