Manwell Pablo Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 :D I was on about Izale and Dudley!!!!!! Oh. No I don't rate them pair, dog rough. yuck yuck yuck.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 There seems to be a slightly confused argument around that £1.5M for McLeod who has no exprience at this level is a good price, but any more than that is too much for a player who has that experience and delivered 12 goals in a promotion campaign. Weird. I totally agree, at the same price I'd take DJ every time but unfortunately Brum seemed to have priced himself out of the reasonable market.
Soar Fox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Just saw on T.V MK Dons chairman saying that premiership clubs have made enquires about Izale Mcleod. Don't know if it is true or just him trying to get a reaction from Leicester and other championship clubs.

Kent Fox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 if true i bet they're enquiries and nothing more. i can't see a prem club taking the gamble Dunno. Someone like Derby might..
Soar Fox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Wasn't he at Derby before he moved to MK Dons? and if he was will Derby get a cut of any sell on clause?
Blue Bob Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 If this one is going into a bidding war with the likes of Charlton and Cardiff then I think we should pull out, £2 - 2.5 Million is a bit of a stretch for a player who score 9 league goals last season and 9 the season before for Brentford. I appreciate he is rated as a decent prospect but I think he has a way to go to deserve a £2.5 million price tag.

I've just been reading what Winkelman had to say and it looks more like he's selling him up. This is probably because we are stalling on bettering our offer for him. And they need the money.

I think this is the Chairman trying to do a good job of upping the asking price and trying to panic some of the Championship sides in actually putting in an offer. I guess he has promised Ince funds to go out and buy players from the sale of Macleod, but as no one has bought him yet Ince is panicing that his preseason plans are not going as he wanted. I dont think a premiership side will be in for him as it is a bit of a step up and too much of a gamble. Mcleod will go to a championship side at best.

Cheese Me Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Not sure I would. But I'd definitley pick Fowler ahead of either of them. Come on Milan sort it out.

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I'm very pleased with this. I thought Southampton or Charlton might have gazzumped us. We even got the yellow 'Breaking News' bar on Sky Sports News! Wow, can't believe we made the yellow news breaking bar, but it would have been even better if Alex Hammond announced it. She is good looking, but she is quite funny in her mannerisms in my opinion !!
Mort Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Just hope we get the Campbell deal sorted... strikers are at such a premium at the moment that we will be paying over the odds, but having missed out on Saga, Todor, Job etc... we need to do our best to strengthen up front, IMHO McLeod just isn't an option(!) overpriced and not good enough (we've already taken risk with the likes of Cort and Stappleton... there's no point going after a consistent, forward and ending up with an unproven kid from the lowest league in the country).

Totally agree. If the Campbell deal does fall through and disentegrate, I really hope that we are able to purchase a striker that is proven at this level. McLeod seems decent but whether he will bag us 20 a season I don't know. I am hopeful that we will get our hands on Campbell, but anything above £1.5 million (even that's at a stretch) is too much.
MPH Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Wasn't he at Derby before he moved to MK Dons? and if he was will Derby get a cut of any sell on clause? derby also not long back bought earnshaw for 3.5 they prefer to go for proven scorers. in top divisions
morris1234 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 campbell close now!!?? http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...2498967,00.html Leicester hope to seal the £2million capture of Birmingham star DJ Campbell this weekend, amid reports he is wanted by three of their rivals. The Foxes have been in lengthy negotiations over the sale of the former Brentford striker, having initially been put off by Birmingham's £2million valuation. But with reports linking Watford, Charlton and Cardiff - armed with the £5million transfer fee received from Sunderland for Michael Chopra - Leicester are keen to wrap up his signing as soon as possible. Allen knows that Leicester may well have to stump up Birmingham's asking price, particularly because if the move falters, an auction could take place as Blues would want to maximise the asking price. Campbell - who joined Blues from Brentford for £500,000 - has no great desire to leave St Andrews. But Blues boss Steve Bruce cannot guarantee Campbell a regular place this coming season, and could cash in to add funds to the transfer kitty
Brainy Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I'd actually like him here, but I personally wouldn't pay more than 1.5m for him.

Uncle Monty Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Does anyone else think that 2 mill is way to much for DJ?
Stevosevic Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Does anyone else think that 2 mill is way to much for DJ? It would seem prices for strikers in general have been inflated this summer. I think its an acceptable fee as i think MA is running out of options and we need someone.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 .....and before anyone says we could have bought a pikey for £2m, he said Wolves were the only club he spoke to and that's where he always wanted to go! I'd rather have DJ above McLeod and possibly Fowler.
