Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Alan Lee is a fairly good player at this level. Who could be purchased for less than £750,000. No frills, but he get's the job done. 15 goals a season piece of piss.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 What's DJ Campbell then? A Ian Wright/Les Ferdinand/Alan 'original' Smith/Freddy Eastwood non-league special wannabe that people decided to throw too much money at?EDIT: With a crap tattoo on his neck to boot. Touche. I have no love for Dudley thats for certain but I prefere him to big ears. Just about.
Babylon Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Who could be purchased for less than £750,000. No frills, but he get's the job done. 15 goals a season piece of piss. I think he cost Ipswich £850k not so long ago, so i'd imagine he would cost more than that.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 He cost Ipswich £850k not so long ago, so i'd imagine he would cost more than that. Ipswich are in the shit money wise, plus rumours of Lee falling out with Magilton. Hull want him, he'd be watsed there.
Brainy Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Hull seem to be after everybody at the minute. What's happened to Coventry's interest in Lee?
Babylon Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Ipswich are in the shit money wise, plus rumours of Lee falling out with Magilton. Hull want him, he'd be watsed there. If we are being really picky some could say he only got 12 goals in 96 apps for Cardiff.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 If we are being really picky some could say he only got 12 goals in 96 apps for Cardiff. If we were really picky some could say Ipswich only paid £100,000 for Lee and has scored 20 goals in just over 50 games. And Campbell only scored 3 goals in 16 games for Stevenage Borough when he was there.

If we were being really really picky we could say Campbell only managed to pack an average of 10 boxes on hour whilst playing for Yeading.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 July 2007 Author Posted 16 July 2007 If we were being really really picky we could say Campbell only managed to pack an average of 10 boxes on hour whilst playing for Yeading. Erm, I think it's spelt Reading mate.

Yeah and Yeading are just a poor man's Reading. And by poor man, I mean really poor man. And by Reading, I mean Jon Stead-ing.

Some could say he is 28, the same age as me and I've had it.... so he must have to.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Erm, I think it's spelt Reading mate. I'm confused.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 July 2007 Author Posted 16 July 2007 I'm confused. Well that's my good deed for the day done. I would warn you I've had about four hours sleep in the last two nights so my posting is likely to be sketchy for the foreseeable future.

Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Some could say he is 28, the same age as me and I've had it.... so he must have to. That rules Lee out then. I think i'll put all my eggs in Blackstock's basket.
Babylon Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 That rules Lee out then. I think i'll put all my eggs in Blackstock's basket. Kinky. To be honest I don't care who we get... I just don't like Fryatt.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Kinky. To be honest I don't care who we get... I just don't like Fryatt. Well, I'm sure he doesn't like you either.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 July 2007 Author Posted 16 July 2007 Kinky. To be honest I don't care who we get... I just don't like Fryatt. Let's start a club. The He's Alright But He Gets Defended Too Much On Here Because Of His Record At A Lower Level And He's Slower Than I Am And Has A Reputation For Being A Good Finisher Despite Scoring Ten Goals In Fifty Three Games For Us Just Because He Scuffed One In (Great Finish, I'm Joking) Against Derby, The Fat Bastard... err... Club. Or THABHGDTMOHBOHRAALLAHSTIAAHARFBAGFDSTGIFTGFUJBHSOI(GFIJ)ADTFB...e...C for short.
lee7 Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Better strikers than DJ Campbell that could be signed for less than £1.5 million.Francis Jeffers- no Paul Gallacher- yes Heidar Helguson- agree Darius Vassell- don't think he would drop down a division Dong Fangzhuo- don't know Jason Euell- no Lomana Lua Lua- definately but can't see him coming Stephen Elliott- no Carlton Cole- yes would love him to come to leicester but he is probably woth more than 1.5 m Mikkel Forssell- had to many injuries Dexter Blackstock- no Alan Lee- no Danny Webber-no Grzegorz Rasiak- yes but i can't see him coming Jay Bothroyd- not sure That doesn't include any lower league players, no players from abroad and no players available on a free transfer such as Fowler, Hasselbaink, etc.
brookfox Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 On the valuations, the way I see it is young(ish), fast, Enligh strikers are a premium that clubs are always willing to pay silly fees for. MM's not stupid. Even if we sign DJ for £2m and McLeod for £1.2m and a) they score 5-10 goals they won't have gone down in value or b) either scores 15-20 with us coming top half you could probably sell for double the value. Just look at Chopra. For this reason I'm not overly worried about the fee is as I don't believe you could lose money on either (cue 100 counter examples!). Doesn't answer the question of whether they're the right signings but if MA wants them it's good enough for me.

Everything and everyone is shit. Everyone Out.

Right, I quit. You all hate me and I just want to spend some time with my other personalities. Paul Smith designed our membership cards. It was actually me. I just used lots of different coloured felt-tip pens.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 July 2007 Author Posted 16 July 2007 I find it quite ironic that DJ looks more like an MC.
