dandannieldanok Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Just to emphasise how negative our tactics were today I think that will be the first game Sheehan has ever played for the first team where City have failed to score.By my reckoning he's played in nine games, we've won 5, drawn 3 and lost just the one against Premiership Bolton in the Cup. In that time we've scored 15 goals at nearly 2 a game over eight successive matches while conceding 8 at less than one a game. But today, while we might have taken a rare point, we failed to even have a shot on target. How far back did they send him for pity's sake? Well we were one nil down to Crewe when Sheehan got sent off in the second half so thats not strictly true.
Matt Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Made me laugh when RL were saying one them on the touchline (Not sure who) was asking the forth official how they go about making a substitute! lol

Bryn Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 From a Plymouth fan. Argyle vs Leicester The Referee Show starring Paul TaylorFinished 0-0. On another day, we could have won 5-0. It wasn't that Leicester were that bad, we just player much better football all game long, yet we just weren't clinical enough. Akos ran the game, my god he was good today, must have drawn close to 10 fouls from the Leicester players. That said, the referee and the Lyndhurst linesman were fooking pathetic. Linesman didn't have a clue, and the ref wanted to be the centre of attention. When the ref wasn't getting decisions wrong, he was being a pedantic little **** and giving ridiculous fouls. Ratings: McCormick - Only made one save as far as I can remember, didn't have a lot to do. Connolly - Quite good today, got forward well, and his defending was better than normal Sawyer - Quite a let down today, looked dodgy on the ball, and Hume caused him a few problems Timar - Dealt with De Vries quite well, solid performance Seip - See Timar Norris - Back to his energetic self, shame about his finishing Halmosi - The bloke is top quality, his link up with Akos in the first half was class, they were exactly on the same wavelength Nalis - Solid performance Akos - Man on the match by far (although the sponsors gave it to Seip huh.gif). Was a class above everyone on the pitch. Was everywhere, constantly beating players with nifty footwork, had a few shots, forced one good save out of Fulop, and as I mentioned, won us about 7 or 8 free kicks when Leicester decided the only way to stop him was to take him out Hayles - Not great today, we played too many long balls to him, and he wasn't winning a lot in the air, seemed pretty lazy too SEB - Didn't feel he got into the game today. Had a couple of opportunities, but meh Fulop - Made a couple of decent saves, and commanded his area quite well. Wish we had tested him a bit more though N'Gotty - Was pretty solid, not amazing, but didn't really do anything wrong Mattock - Didn't seem to do anything of note, at least I didn't notice anyway Kisnorbo - Won loads in the air vs Hayles, as expected, but seemed to get away with a lot of holding etc. Pretty solid McAuley - See Mattock Hume - Very good player, great footwork, caused Sawyer a lot of problems, think he would have done more damage playing up front Sheehan - Looked a pretty decent player, put some good crosses in Clemence - See McAuley Wesolowski - Again, looked a decent player, good footwork, but faded out of the game in the 2nd half De Vries - Surprisingly good footwork for a man his size, but he's a thug. Got away with murder because the ref was wank too sleep.gif Campbell - Caused a few problems for the defence, but no end product. Decent player, but not worth £2m or however much he cost All the fans were pretty poor, Leicester pretty silent throughout. We really could have won it in the second half, we lay siege to the Leicester goal, although almost got caught out on the break once or twice. Disappointed we didn't win, but a point's a point
Lillehamring Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 OS say 2 shots on target.... don't forget for us RL listeners half the game was spent with idiots talking about fish and announcing goals for liverpool.... same as watford where staedtler and waldorf only mention weso twice, while most here gave him MOTM.
Bert Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Just said on RL Jon Rudkin interview in a minute.I want the manager MM to do it though! If it's not been said already, we do get that you think MM is the manager.

That fish business was bizarre. I thought for a minute they were going to drop the commentary altogehter and spend the rest of the afternoon thinking up fish quips. As it turns out we wouldn't have missed much.
Lillehamring Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 From a Plymouth fan. he sounds like a reasonable bloke... so confirms we had a shot, based on his single report, hume MOTM - sheehan, weso and kisa had good games...

Seeing as we've got no other highlights to refer to do you think "the shot" will turn up on Youtube?
sdb Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 just got home from the game. i thought we played ok, plymouth certainly didn't dominate imo. we looked solid but had very few ideas in the final 3rd. the kishishev for DJ move made sense to me. Campbell wasn't having a great game and it allowed Hume to move up front. what was strange was that weso went RM and Kish CM. 2 centre backs and Fulop were excellent. Clemence veery assured in the middle. De vries had some nice moments but didn't do much. everyone else was good, but not great.
MC Prussian Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Sounds like I didn't miss out on anything exciting today...

Spot on, i was a bit dissapointed in DJ he seemed to get the ball go to run at the defender then just give it away Kisnorbo was my MOTM he made an awesome last ditch tackle in the box to deny their striker a one on one. Cort looked quite promising when he came on, because he can actually head the ball. Hume also had a decent game. There was also a funny moment when the ref got hit in the face with ball. and i fell up the stairs and dropped my pasty all over the floor.
Smudge Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Week in week out I look forward to a game and apart from last weeks match with Watford, I come away disappointed with the performance and apoplectic about the Radio Leicester commentary. I'll give the team a break this week but to be honest, I just don't see how we are going to get much better. I think the problem is still the midfield and until we have someone with vision who can field that ball into open space or get behind the defence, I think we are in for another year of mediocrity. That of course, is much better than out and out crap that we have been served up in the last two or three seasons. From the 15 new signings only 4 plus Clarke have had a regular start Fulop, N'Gotty, Clemence and DJ. Fulop and Bruno have definitely strengthened our defence but mid-field creativity seems a rare commodity. I don't think that is something you can coach, I believe that is a natural talent and we don't have that player. I'm far from surprised Milan is unhappy with this. Even if he and MA were getting on I can see why he is dissatisfied with the progress we have made. He obviously is somewhat to blame by what degree only time will tell.

Spot on, I'd agree with all of that, there is no creativity in the midfield whatsoever, which is not a fault of the players particulary because the likes of Clem, Weso and Kish don't promise to be that missing link, IMO they are all holding midfielders.
maddog Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Just listened to the match on radio today. Sounds like we played pretty poor apart from Fulop and the defence and struggled to create chances. I still think if we had MA as manager still for this match we would have won the game, and am still slightly annoyed he has gone but have moved on a bit with the thought of having Jewell in for the QPR game i hope. It was a key match today but we have got a point, and if we continue to draw away matches and win most of our home matches we will get promoted or reach the play offs. i did expect us to have more points from the first few games though, a draw at Plymouth, win against Blackpool and Watford and a loss to palace so 7 points. But we have 5 points, we have some great players, 2 points off the play offs in mid table and great hopes and prospects for the season ahead even with Allen gone. Last season at this stage we had 4 points, shit manager, mostly shit players, played awful in the first 2 games of season v luton n burnley and no Milan. It's been a good start to the season in my view Jewell would be great, and all this Milan out talk is utter crap although i am on Allens side but i certainly dont want Milan gone. Without him we will be no where.

How d'you do that? 4:45 end, out of ground by 5:00 Back in Leicester by 7:00!! You fly?
boosmanana Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 perhaps he doesn't live in leicester, just an idea
lookwhaticando Posted 1 September 2007 Author Posted 1 September 2007 We could have come and sprayed it around with six or seven passes and finished it off with a volley but first and foremost was to defend. Ouch! :pinch: On the plus side for me there was some very positive defending. We have kept our second clean sheet of the week. lol Great, isn't it?
Lord Nibblington Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Great, isn't it? But to be fair, if you've served up a drab 0-0, you'll generally look for some kind of positives. Not likely to come out and say our strikers were shite. Actually, Holloway might now that I think about it.
sdb Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How d'you do that?4:45 end, out of ground by 5:00 Back in Leicester by 7:00!! You fly? nah i'm a really, really quick runner!! and i live in Somerset forgot about the ref getting hit on the head! very funny. Cort looked pretty good yeh. We just lacked a midfielder to link up with the attackers. We also looked quite drained/exhausted for the final 10 mins - hardly suprising given their week, but we were on the back foot for almost the entire closing stages.

l444ry Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Sounded like a good solid performance and a difficult point gained easily. After the week City have just had we should be pleased about that. Well done to those responsible for the team.

l444ry Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 "Fantastic" result. Nil-nil for ever. For this week...............yes. Even the Academy didn't manage to win today. So both sides did the next best thing. Credit where it's due.
sdb Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 But MA apparently claims he was only responsible for four of those signings. I thought Rudkin and co were the academy staff? Shouldn't you be going on about how todays performance ranks with the most heroic of all football history, whilst masturbating furiously over the combined age of todays left side?!!? Or has the ridiculous optimism of thinking everyone associated with the Leicester academy member is Gods gift to life finally been laid to rest?!!
