Trumpet Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 BEAVER HOLE OUT! I would have taken a point before, but come on- we need to beat Plymouth, for the sake of not beating them since the 50's on their turf... And it sounded like a right old bore draw, unlucky for the fans that travelled down there!
Thracian Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 For this week...............yes. Even the Academy didn't manage to win today. So both sides did the next best thing. Credit where it's due. Sounds like the sooner Beaglehole's back with the Under 18's the better.
Bryn Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 "Fantastic" result. Nil-nil for ever. You're such a fooking plank at the moment. You don't seem to grasp that we actually have to go out and beat another team who are actively trying to stop us winning and indeed defeat us. It's not quite as simple as filling your side with 7.5 potential goalscorers and trying to get them all to play pretty football. From what Barber said Plymouth were playing a pressing game, and this is a good case in point. You can't try and pass your way through a fit team who are closing you down at every opportunity. Sometimes you have to dig in and battle, and if you come away from a bogey team who are a good side with a vital point that is a good result. Over the course of the season if we do that away from home we can come away with an extra 23 points to go with whatever we can muster at home. And we know we are capable, look at Watford. Yes there are shortfalls, but look at the week we've had. I'm proud that our team has moved on to a stage where teams like Plymouth aren't just turning us over. We now have 2 weeks off, hopefully we will host QPR, a beatable team by all accounts, with a new manager, with the players refreshed. We take 3 points in that game, we're on 8 points, we're in a solid position.
Thracian Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 I thought Rudkin and co were the academy staff? Shouldn't you be going on about how todays performance ranks with the most heroic of all football history, whilst masturbating furiously over the combined age of todays left side?!!? Or has the ridiculous optimism of thinking everyone associated with the Leicester academy member is Gods gift to life finally been laid to rest?!! Don't expect me to knock the Academy. Virtually every game I've seen them play has been an exercise in unrestrained attacking football with both teams trying their utmost to win. Everyone who watches seems to enjoy it and that's more than can be said for the first team. Eight of those players have already appeared in the first team and I've no doubt there will be more to follow. Which one or two do you think deserve a hammering because they're crap? One of the points about our current Academy is that success breeds success as is so often the case.
Smudge Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 But MA apparently claims he was only responsible for four of those signings. Never, perhaps, maybe, absolutely.................in the end it doesn't matter who's responsible anymore, it's what we are going to about it that matters. I think I'll be adopting DavieG's signature as my mantra..........."It's the hope that gets me"
Tommeh Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 I'll take the point at the end of the day. Pretty dull game, not much atmosphere either. We gave it a bit of a go between 55-65 mins but after that they piled on the pressure and it was more acase of holding on and taking the point which we did. Man of the match - Fulop - seems very convincing and for once when we defend a corner I feel we have a keeper capable of relieving the pressure. Made a few good saves too. Also Kisnobo's 1st half tackle was brilliant on Hayles I think when he was clean through. And cort did well after coming on. We may have nicked one at the death but when Kishishev was brought on for campbell it was clear we were happy to take the point.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 F**k's sake, if it was that dreadful to listen to, don't f**king bother. I went, I thought it was quite a decent game actually and we had good spells, just let down by the final pass from midfield. Okay so the final pass wasn't there but with the exception of Mattock in for Clarke it was exactly the same team that started against Watford for crying out loud. Sometimes we will win 4-1, sometimes we won't. And if we don't then I will definitely take a point, especially from a place like Plymouth. And please, for the love of God, don't turn on the team and start criticising them left, right and centre after a difficult week just because you've listened to John f**king Barber tell you how many clouds are in the sky for 90 minutes. We dug in well today and I'm proud of them and I'm extremely glad I went. Oh and the ref was doing us no favours whatsoever.
SamL Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Fair play to everyone who went to this. Wasnt that bad a game actually. Long journey down there but no traffic problems thankfully. Stewarding was a bit over the top.
lookwhaticando Posted 1 September 2007 Author Posted 1 September 2007 And please, for the love of God, don't turn on the team and start criticising them left, right and centre after a difficult week just because you've listened to John f**king Barber tell you how many clouds are in the sky for 90 minutes. There were 204 clouds today... but don't let that sway your judgement of the game.
C-man Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 I'm really pleased with this result. I expected a defeat, especially with the week we've just had, but to get a draw at Home Park is fantastic, also considering what a few of us have witnessed in the last few years there! That's 4 pts this week and don't even deny you'd take that if someone offered it to you last Friday. Yes, we've lost a manager that the majority were really warming to, but these things happen and with a battling display like today sounded, we are still heading in the right direction. 2 weeks off now to clear the players heads, and get abck to business and beat Q.P.R whcih will give us a solid start!

I was actually really dissapointed at not hearing a weather forecast today!
OzFox311 Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Good to hear we got a point... after the week we've had I'm accepting of that.. not happy, I would have hoped for a win and wanted one, but if you can't win, it's the next best thing... and yes I know I'm stating the bloody obvious... I am also glad I listened to updates of this on World Service and not tried to find Radio Leicester last night on the net here in Oz because from the sounds of it, for another week, Barber and co. were talking about anything but the game... so far in this thread I've read about clouds, fish, Prada (FFS is that guy metrosexual or hiding in the closet, every week FFS) and our coaching staff having to ask the officials for directions.... makes you wonder why they aren't replaced yet.. Oh well, 2 weeks to get things in order and hopefully come out against QPR and give the fans something to smile about... but well done on today to the boys, they got the point in tough circumstances, and that is much better than being thrashed after the weeks they've had...
lookwhaticando Posted 1 September 2007 Author Posted 1 September 2007 Prada (FFS is that guy metrosexual or hiding in the closet, every week FFS) Well... he is a sheep-troubler. That's all I'm saying.

Which one or two do you think deserve a hammering because they're crap? One of the points about our current Academy is that success breeds success as is so often the case. But you seem to think that we can go all out attack and all our problems are solved. It might work against 16 year olds most of the time but today we were playing a tough and experienced outfit away from home after losing our manager 3 days earlier. I'm not saying any of the players deserve a hammering - they played well. You're the one moaning, not me!
lildave3 Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Wasn't that bad at all tbh. Defence seemed solid, midfield played some nice balls, just not doing the business up top.
Ultra Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Just to emphasise how negative our tactics were today I think that will be the first game Sheehan has ever played for the first team where City have failed to score. No, he made his debut in 2004-05 at Plymouth and that was 0-0 too. I bet the Plymouth fans wonder how we stay in this league. We've been shocking on our last four visits there and have hardly created a chance, let alone a goal!
BigGibbo Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 A point at Plymouth is good considering recent performances down there.I'll take it. yeah same here it was never going to be a classic in our current predicament did we have a decent turnout down there?
Ultra Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Wasn't that bad at all tbh. Defence seemed solid, midfield played some nice balls, just not doing the business up top. Can't understand why Fryatt wasn't in the 16 today. He would have given us an extra attacking option. Although in the circumstances a point was a decent return, and extends our unbeaten run, if we are to progress in this league we have to be more adventurous on the road.

Especially as he scored a hatrick in the res's i think the caretakers where to scared to make any changes from watford
Alexikokopops Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I'm back, I'm back!! My post match reaction? See Fez. I drove 740 miles today, that's bloody ridiculous. Disclaimer: I may be back slightly later because I've been down the pub.

chesterfox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 It is a question of belief and confidence - by giving to this idea that a 0-0 is a good result you are giving messages that you are not capable of anything more. About 15 minutes into the second half you could tangibly feel the instructions(mainly through the substitutions) that a draw was what we were aiming for. Just one week ago we were beating the league leaDERS because the belief was there and instead of sitting back at half time we went all out to finish the job. Now yes the bigger picture says a draw is acceptable but the approach is not. How can things turn a round so quickly?? In just one week from being full of inspiration and belief that we had turned a corner, we become happy at this. Mediocrity is calling - best get this next one right Mandaric - otherwise '' trust'' will not come into it.
davieG Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Considering the turmoil and uncertainty in the club, the lack of management and team leadership, the Clarke incident, the bogeyness (is that a word?) of Plymouth both in Managers and results and putting out and out entertainment aside this was an acceptable result. To me it was a better result than both Blackpool and Crystal Palace. The only people we need to consider is those that spent 8/9/10 hours travelling to watch the 90 minutes, if they think it was worth while then we should go with that. Personally, I wouldn't have travelled that far to see an entertaining 3-0 win at the moment because I'm very disillusioned with the whole package at LCFC, I guess it's reflection of what passes as professional football these days. I feel like I was conned into buying a season ticket on the back of the MA/MM ticket, apparently two guys with the same dream of Premiership football, two guys who were happy two have a joke at each others expense, two guys who were happy in each others company well that's the impression I got at the open evening. But it appears it was a relationship built on sand.
chesterfox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I agree - I live in an area surrounded by United and Liverpool fans and never have any problem standing up to them - I love Leicester and always will, but this week has left a sour taste like rarely felt before. As much as any reason is the thought that it is no longer our club as much as MM's.
Fox in a Box Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 2.5 games without loss, something to build upon, given the status at present I think that this is a good point especially against the pilgrims, we never win there!
