Rare friday night off work, gives me time to recover and for the steroids to work. In tomorrow though but only a 7.5 hour shift so that's decent. Then the real Xmas work starts the following week!

How is everyone else planning to celebrate Dick Van Dyke's 88th birthday today?

 

I'll be heading down to my local A&E ward to impersonate a doctor and hopefully (fingers crossed) solve a murder. Then I'll probably sweep a chimney and have a bit of cake. I know it's not hugely original but it's what I do every December 13th.

lol  I usually walk through the front door of my house where my wife ( dressed as mary tyler moore) has left some cushions stacked up .

the exciting part of this annual ritual  is whether or not i trip over them . Oh how we all laugh  :D

Bought some shoes and a jumper today from Greenwoods. Paid more than I normally would but they have a half price sale on and I do have birthday and Xmas money to spend so not to worry no taxpayers money was uded.

Shoes were £20 and jumper £13 with £5 off over £30 spent. Don't know how but it came to £29. Still I expect its better quality than I was having to buy before.

You see this is why you get the comments you do.

Just tell us you have treated yourself to a new pair of shoes and a nice jumper.

Absolutely no need to tell us you got it cheap and because of that you didn't the use taxpayers money whatsoever.

And 33-5 is 28. You should query that at the till rather than wondering why it came to 29.

Drove into the back of someone on the way to work this morning, so started shit. just had a nice bottle of Wrexham Larger Export, so ended good.

Old lady who thinks give way signs are not relevant to her and smashes into my car, possibly writing it off and leading to me spending my day off being treated by paramedics!!

Hmmmm, never had AndWhat? down as an old lady.

As penance for keeping Mrs Vac awake on Thursday night (see the Cannabis thread) I stayed off the beer last night and chauffeured Mrs Vac and her workmates back from their works Xmas party in the town Centre.  By 01:15, we had dropped off the last of them and I needed to turn the car around to drive home.

 

I was on a main road, so turned right into a side road which is controlled by traffic lights, carried out a 3 point turn in that side road and waited at the lights to turn left.  And waited.  And waited.

 

After the traffic lights had been through a couple of rotations, with me waiting in the side road for a green light that didn't seem to be coming, I said to the Mrs "Look, no one's about, I can't wait here all night.  I'm just going to emerge through this red light - there are no cameras, I'll be alright."

 

I checked my rear view, check left and right.  There was nothing about.

 

I moved the car out and turned left. 

 

At that point, headlights come over the brow of a hill in the distance  behind me, followed by blue flashing lights...

First time in 15 years of driving I have ever been pulled over by the law.

 

I was expecting some points. I told the officers that I knew what I had done and was apologetic.

 

Fair play to them, after checking my details, they let me off with a "Don't do that again".

This is shite. Fortunately my mates coming to pick me up cook me breakfast at his watching a bit of cricket then off to the match

Trust me pal, it becomes easier and you'll be better off for it.

The good news is that the toughest bit is now. It only gets easier from here, time is a great healer and although it doesn't look like it now you will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about.
