Wycombe Fox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Micky Adams...wern't we about 12th when he got the boot? Just checked on Wiki - he resigned in October 2004.
Linekaaaah Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Mickey Adams, easily. Erm, btw, who voted for RK?
Micky Ruddle Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Don't rate Adams at all. Why don't you rate him Andrew?
blue blood Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 peter twat taylor innit!!! we were top of the world - well prem atleast, under him.
Ultra Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Would you have him back? No, he didn't exactly set the division alight at Cov. And many of his signings there (where he actually had money to spend) were hardly top-drawer. I think he still bears the scars of what were, by any standards, two VERY turbulent years in charge here.
Floating Fox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Why don't you rate him Andrew? He didn't have a clue how to play decent football. I never thought we played well under him really. I'll give him credit, he got us promoted, but at the time it was expected of us really.
ASH17LCFC Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Adams but really they are have been shite since MON. Taylor was always gonna find it hard to cope with being the next MON, but his buys are just simply the reason we got in such a huge mess and also letting the likes off Cottee, Walsh and Collymore leave who where strong characters in the dressing room go was stupid. Also couldn't get the best out of the likes of Guppy, Lennon and Elliot. Yet put them all on huge contracts. Killed leicester in a way this man did. Dave Basset was brought in to save us but we where crap and you could tell we where already down. Didn't like him though was too much of a talker and abit of a waste of money. Micky Adams great start and didn't lose in our last 4 games in the premiership and won the last ever game at filbert street got the fans on his side. We went up the following year but we had a some good players with the likes of Walker in goal, Elliot and Taggart at the back, Izzet and Mckinley in the middle and Dickov and Deane up front. Was a strong squad but well done on getting us up. In the premiership we where awful and lost so many points in the last 10 mins but he had no money so we did feel for the man. When we went down we signed some good players and looked like favs to go up. Didn't work but when he left we where only like 5 points of a playoff. His downside was he liked the to signed the old players. Craig Levein was up there up with taylor. Always went to scotland for his signings and said Hughes was one of the best young players in scotland Enough said .. Although we had a good cup run. Rob kelly .. Nice bloke and did keep us up. Still wasn't a manager and some of his sigings where poor ... Andy Johnson and Josh low. Wortho ... Couldn't win at home but did a ok job with 2 away wins at the back end of the season. Maybe thw wolves game cost him the job. Martin Allen ... Liked by most of the fans, told it as it was and looked to be improving. Will never know ...
Chrysalis Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 has to be adams, he achieved promotion under diffilcult circumstances ok was a strong squad but also was ageing and no garuantuee of winning games. He also came very close to staying up and we scored a good amount of goals so he didnt do too badly in the premiership as well. I felt he should have stayed when he went but was under too much pressure I guess and had enough of the club.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 With all the shit that Adams had to put up with as well, he did an outstanding job - Going bust, small squad, Neil Warnock's rants, getting promoted but having nothing to keep us up with, la manga, signing a new squad every season. (Hey, we've done that a lot, but thats great, gives me a whole load of new passwords for work!) I felt sorry for him when he quit, because you could tell he loved the club, but the club had just gone one step too far for him. (Like he'd forgiven his wife for cheating on him, but she goes and does it again.) He got Paul Dickov playing so well, someone was prepared to pay money for him. He made Nalis look decent As well as Ben Thatcher He got us Les Ferdinand! He had Trevor Benjamin in his sqaud! I could go on - but i won't The Ferdinand factor was key in my descision to vote Adams.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 No contest Micky Adams got us promoted with no money and was competitive for 80 minutes of most games in the prem No one else did fok all exept maybe Worth saved us
Ric Flair Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 23 have gone for Martin Allen. I'd love to know why.
The People's Hero Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 This thread and all it's posts are a complete pile, nay, not a pile, a mountain of cocknobbery and I won't have any part in it. Absolute sh it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Adams in the great scheme of things did a almost decent job even though he was given a very strong squad in div 1. He did give the Premier League a decent go, we were unlucky to get relegated, but we did get relegated. He has to many flaws as a manager to be a good manager. His Obession with the over 35's is the main one, but he's the only one who can claim anything resembling success here.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Brace yourself for the usual bunch of idiots harping on about how he already had a Premiership quality team to get us promoted and that any manager inheriting that side would have easily got us promoted.Apart from Izzet and Walker we most certainly did not, you fools. Taggert, Elliott, even Sinclair at tha back ffs were all still good enough to play in the Prem. Dickov also cleary was as he has played in the Premeir League ever since we went up. I do wonder how many players from the Promotion winning team you can remember. I'd certainly be interested to find out after you've made such a statement.

We looked horrible at the back all through the previous season. Far too slow and really unfit. We got promoted with pretty much this team - Walker, Sinclair, Rogers, Taggart, Elliott, Stewart, Izzet, McKinlay, Scowcroft, Dickov, Deane. People still turn their noses up at the likes of Rogers, Stewart and Scowcroft - and say that our wingers aren't good enough for a promotion team this season etc.

Even if they were a bit old for the Premier League Matt Elliott and Gerry Taggart were taylor made div 1 centre halfs.
Pete_foxes Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 **** me.. look at that shit pile of managers we've had Micky adams probably.. Got us promoted with crap players.. & then when we went down we were like about 13th before he got sacked, & we were actually worse off When Levein came!
dandannieldanok Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Taggert, Elliott, even Sinclair at tha back ffs were all still good enough to play in the Prem.
Kilworthfox Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007  Howard Wilkinson "ducks" Played some really good football under him and Bassett after CL went IMO!
