Flexx Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How did he perform today? From what I've heard he is putting the effort in but not much is happening for him at the moment. He's probably pissed off Allen is gone
Ozwin Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Good player IMO. Wasn't there but he puts the effort in and plays for the team by the sounds of things. He'll come good.
Webbo Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He had plenty of chances, his finishing wasn't brilliant but he caused a few problems.
Nath Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 IMO he is shit. He seems the player to have the same atributes as Hume... Far from it... I cant think of any positives from him today...
Unabomber Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How did he perform today? From what I've heard he is putting the effort in but not much is happening for him at the moment. He's probably pissed off Allen is gone He played fairly well he was always lively but tbh there wasn't too much he could do with all the long balls hoofed his way. He had a great chance in the first half, when he was through on goal but was forced abit wide he managed to get a powerful show on target but it was cleared off the line by a defender. He was fairly unlucky as he has a lot of chances all which he took fairly well just didn't hit the back off the net. He is a player that is always in the right areas, but he needs good service.
Milky Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Seems to lack intelligence and positional sense. It's never going to be easy to impress as a striker at this club though when you consider the kind of service on offer. When he did get a good ball today, he was sadly denied by a brilliant, perhaps flukey goal line clearance.
reynard Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He's completely overated. 1 His first touch is very poor. 2 His positional play isn't good enough. 3 His scoring record is ok but only from 3 yards. 4 His workrate is simply not good enough. compare his forward play to Humes. 5 His reading of the game is not good enough. Obviously doesn't learn on the raining ground as he seems incapable of predicting teammates flick ons etc. 6 Looks a good goal poacher in the six yard area 7 Never attacks the near post like all quality strikers do. Hope he goes on to prove me wrong and if he does I will be the first to say well done but at the moment he looks a waste of money. I think we could have /should have bought better.
TheBlinding Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Played well, the only player that looked threatening today. Quick, strong and had a good touch(Not sure who reynard's been watching ) Needs to watch his offsides and could be more clinical but will always score goals
Jimmy Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He needs to stay onside and he get caught off way too often and cost Cort a goal because of it. he needs to be far more clinical infron of goal, if Fryatt had DJ's pace i'd pick him anyday ahead of DJ
reynard Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Played well, the only player that looked threatening today. Quick, strong and had a good touch(Not sure who reynard's been watching )Needs to watch his offsides and could be more clinical but will always score goals Sorry but his first touch is poor often ending up 1 or 2 metres away fro him. As for will always score well he missed a sitter today because he was too slow in shooting. forgot to say he can't head the ball either.
Tommeh Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 We brought him to score goals and 2 from 4+1 sub in the league isn't bad going. His performances this season beofre today havn't been that of someone who cost £2.1m but at least his goals compensated. Was poor at plymouth in my opinion and looked a bit disinterested, possibly down to Allen's sacking? But today I thought it was his best game yet although he didn't score he looked our main threat. So unlucky not to score 1st half after showing great composure in front of goal and his link up play was decent too. Caught offside 3 times in the 1st 20 minutes reminiscent of a certain Mr. Hammond but I'd say at least 1 was very debatable. Hasn't set the league on fire as yet thats for sure and I'm expecting more, if he can get a decent partnership with MDV going i'm sure he'll get 15 - 20 goals in the league for us this season something we've been lacking since Connolly left. And with hume hopefully chipping into doble figures again even playing from the right and hopefully double figures also from De Vries I think we'll be more than capable of getting the goals
Daggers Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I'm agreeing with Reynard - he really isn't impressing me at all. He shows glimpses of nice touches but he simply isn't creating opportunities for himself or adding to the team mix. His major contribution today was to fall over thereby giving us Hume's goal. It's not enough.
Mark Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Not sure how anyone can say someone who's already scored 2 goals, and won a penalty in 5 games is no good. Nothing spectacular, just right place right time. And it's no use saying he isn't worth what we paid for him when the person who paid that money for him got the sack after 4 games. It's a decent return so far given he's had a different partner up front every match? Pace will always cause problems and I'd rather he was playing up front and Hume on the wing than having one less attacker on the field. I certainly think we chose the right option out of DJ and Izale McLeod who can't get a game at Charlton, neither Luke Varney for that matter who cost more than DJ.
Webbo Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I'm certain he'll get 15-20 goals this season. To me he's like a poor man's Lineker, looks totally disinterested for 89 minutes then pops up with the winner.
Dames Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He's been quite poor but he's still contributed a fair bit. If he's like this now just imagine how good he will be when he's on form (If he ever is for us)
Daggers Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Not sure how anyone can say someone who's already scored 2 goals Aside from that the last one was Kisnorbo's
Simi Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He's never been a pretty player to watch. He gets in some good positions and the majority of the time he will put the ball in the back of the net. He had plenty of chances against Blackpool, maybe should of taken one but he got in the positions to make them, I hope we stick with him.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I thought he was poor today and awful at Plymouth. Personally I expect more.
The Reverend Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He does what goal-scorers do, fook all for 99% of the game n then scores. If he did any more than that he certainly wouldnt be at Leicester City thats for sure. 2 goals in 4 and a half games is a decent ratio and lets be fair, he could of had another 4 in the games so far. I still dont think hes match fit and i think it'll take him another 5 or 6 games to get 100% as he was a bit part player last season. I think we'll see the best of him in the second half of the season tbh.
Bert Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 He looked pissed off that Hume took the penalty and looked annoyed when he got brought off. He works hard for the team IMO. He was very upset when Allen got the sack, i know that much.
Geo V Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Poor first half but started to redeem himself in the second half and they seemed unable to cope with him. Megson then took him off for some strange reason but I am convinced if he stayed on we would have had a second goal. I am happy with his current strike-rate but what I must admit does worry me is his attitude. Sometimes he struts around not doing much and then he explodes into life. He has pace and needs to time his runs better but as forwards go, he IMO can score 20 goals a season with the right service. Hopefully ball playing wide players like Kaebi and Ferreira can play to his strengths as he wont score loads in the air thats for sure.
Ultra Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 I'm not his greatest fan, as those who saw the slating I gave him after the Blackpool game will confirm. But yesterday he showed signs of improvement. He showed good pace and awareness and when he had decent service (which sadly wasn't often) he was a constant threat to the QPR back line. His anticipation earned the penalty and only a desperate goal-line clearance stopped him from adding a goal as well. Apart from Weso he was probably our best player.
Koke Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 They guy can't head for shit. Even when unchallenged he seems to completely miss it. But I thought he was alright against QPR. Caused them plenty of trouble and unlucky not to score. I think he'll come good eventually.
