Kilworthfox Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 So you'd rather us have Carl Carthorse as back-up to Fryatt, Campbell and Hume then would you? I'm not pleased with this at all. Why send anyone to Leeds? Why get rid of De Vries instead of Carthorse? I badly want De Vries to score a few goals up there so he can stick 2 fingers up at Megson and be laughing at everyone who knocked him. But he'd be helping Wise out at Leeds if he did. Bollocks. You all right mate? thought this would hit you hard I would obviously want Cort gone NOW FFS! De Vries does a job I can accept but he is no leading man even at Champioship level. He will do well For DirtyLeedsscum Show em Marky boy
Monk Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Sorry to see his hard work on fitness hasnt been good enough. As much as I hate Leeds I wish him good luck. We're not exactly going to struggle without him. Thats one fewer 6ft+ players to hoof towards. Fryatt and Hume is the way forward and Megs knows it.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Yeah I would. As back up. While he's showed nothing yet, at least Cort has a bit of pedigree that if he gets match fit and gets his touch back, may (and I emphasise may) be an asset. I've seen enough of MDV to know he's not. Are you seriously suggesting a player of his "qualities" deserves a place in our squad?! Chum?
hebangsthedrums Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 I don't care which went, just as long as we are rid of at least 1. Both are shocking players at this level from their performances at Leicester, performances we can't keep putting up with if we're to get anywhere. But Leeds though? Thats pissed me off more then it being MDV and not Cort who has gone. Surely if we wanted to loan him someone else would have taken him - I would have thought MM would have loved the PR opportunity of saying 'Leeds wanted him but we sent him to x instead'

I was really hoping he would and it looked like it was going to happen for a while. All i can hope for now is he does a really good job at Leeds and comes back in a months time raring to go.
AyewJoking Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Anyone but Leeds! My mood is now set to: ANGRY
Mark Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 But Leeds though? Thats pissed me off more then it being MDV and not Cort who has gone. Surely if we wanted to loan him someone else would have taken him - I would have thought MM would have loved the PR opportunity of saying 'Leeds wanted him but we sent him to x instead' I doubt he's going to tear the division apart They've got Wayne Andrews as well so he probably won't play when their first team strikers return.

Not many teams would take on a high % of that especially at League 1 level.
AyewJoking Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 I doubt he's going to tear the division apart They've got Wayne Andrews as well so he probably won't play when their first team strikers return. Its the principal. Why should we help out that little willy puller Wise?
lcfc_jme Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Yeah I would. As back up. Are you seriously suggesting a player of his "qualities" deserves a place in our squad?! May being the key word then. There's nothing that suggests for certain that Carthorse is going to be an asset to our team. If we go entirely on this season alone, then yes, I would suggest De Vries deserves a place in our squad. Definitely ahead of Carthorse. Carl Cort looks lazy and his touch is showing no signs of improving whatsoever at the minute. Sure, De Vries isn't the most energetic striker we have, but he's scored this season, which is more than Cort has if I'm not mistaken. Since I've seen Cort in a City shirt, he's looked completely useless. He's a bigger, slower Elvis Hammond.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 It's all very well saying he's not up to it but none of our strikers are top Championship strikers. He's the only one who has posed defences a real physical problem this season. In fact I'd say he's been our best striker in the league so far this season.
shrood Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Baffled. Hasn't played like a complete disabled this season. One or two very solid performances. And LEEEEEEEDS?!?!

He has been garbage for years and was ok at best at Wimbledon. I believe its common knowledge that Robson bought Cort believing he was Jason Euell.

But, but.. on Football Manager if you offer him round loads of clubs loan him! God you would think that Megson would bother to research these things!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Megson hung him out to dry on Saturday playing him practically on the right wing so he could ship him out with a minimum of fuss.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Megson hung him out to dry on Saturday playing him practically on the right wing so he could ship him out with a minimum of fuss. hmmm, Conspiracy
ithuriel Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 he may have tried but he was not good enough , we have had a few seasons of deepfreeze now and we could not sell him so it shows just how low this club has sunk that poeple are bemoaning his departure for a loan spell. for those that say he is better than cort , well , that is no reason to hang onto a player who does not fit into the clubs asperations. hopefully cort will be gone soon enough too. shame MA vetoed hasselbaink because he seems to be doing the business at cardiff

He's the only one who has posed defences a real physical problem this season. In fact I'd say he's been our best striker in the league so far this season. de Vries has been dreadful since Allen left and was fairly bad before Allen came here. Let's not dress this up, if de Vries had been shipped out in the summer, then the majority of us would have been delighted to have him off the wage bill. A decent first half against Blackppol and a vintage performance against Watford and our fans are now up in arms that he's gone. He was pretty anonymous on Saturday and by all accounts, he's been piss poor when we've played away from home this season. Megson will be bringing new players in, from our experience of Allen buying but not selling. I'm not overly concerned that Megson has first got rid of a player before bringing his own players in. Fryatt is back in favour, it could easily have been him going to Leeds if Allen was still here. Infact it wouldn't surprise me if Wise called to enquire about the availability of Fryatt and was told they could have de Vries instead.

Not even Elvis "G money" Hammond.

Im just glad he has gone to Leeds so they can suffer the pain of watching the overgrown donkey play. Leeds unbeaten without DeVries, watch him drag them down now too. Go on Mark do at least one thing for the city.
FilboFox Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 I hate to sounds stupid but WHY don't we just SELL him... this is the second or third time now he's been out on loan and every time he comes back, plays one or two good games and then ends up out of the team and going back out on loan... he's a waste of space NOW SELL HIM!
Fat Ron Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 In my oppinion, decent player signed 10 years to late.. he has no confidence and at 32 I find it hard to believe that he has time to work on that at this Level. I think he may do ok in League 1 with Leeds if he can stay fit. As for it being Leeds, let Wise get on with it.. Does it really matter that he is signing our players.. To me it just goes to prove that he needed us a long time before we would ever have needed that little nob jockey.
