Leonisco Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Can anybody give me the go ahead to get excited yet, and I mean excited!! Permission to begin jacking off - granted!
Polyphonic Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Well the report of Frank Burrows being seen in London confirms for that Tigana will be the next manager for sure... Chelve needs to reveal his source, because he posted earlier this year that Paul Ince was to be the next manager after having seen him at a home game... You miss understood the point of Burrows being in London, its the fact that he was wearing an inspector Clouseau style rain coat, that means its Peter Reid, if he had been wearing his normal Jako managers coat then it was going to be Tigana .... or something
Wilkesy Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Anyone know what oods you can get on Tigana as next manager? Might pop over to Mark Jarvis at lunch!
He's not bald Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Anyone know what oods you can get on Tigana as next manager?Might pop over to Mark Jarvis at lunch! I think you'd probably get better odds on Mark Jarvis being our next manager!
Mighty Muzzy Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Don't know wether you remember (Academy Scout) but i posted some information about Tigana last week that he was meeting MM on friday, but it wasn't in Leicester, unfortunatley tho the forum crashed and that thread was deleted. I now have more information, After the meeting on friday with MM, he was apprentley going back to france to speak to his family about managing Leicester, and was going to give MM a answer by wednesday. No personal terms have been discussed, but have been told that he has accepted the challenge of the Leicester Position and will be discussing personal terms on fri with an advisor of the club and Milan will be coming back monday to make sure everything is signed and done. Thats all i know at minute, ill let you know if i find anything else out. That would be awesome. If it comes true, you will be my hero Chelve. I hope you have a reliable source.
thybluefox Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 I'm reserving my excitement until its announced, or not, as the case may be. We've been down the mr motivator route, lets get someone in who can get us playing good football. Good football = good crowd support = confident players = even better football. Sort it, Mandy.
Ric Flair Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 I am too, not going to get excited until there is further news. The fact we've been seriously linked with Tigana has impressed me somewhat anyway, it means Mandaric isn't quite the buffoon that some consider him to be. But anyway, I just want to give my opinion on Tigana as he's my favourite subject right now. Not only was Jean Tigana a superstar as a player, but his management skills are as good as any manager we've had or are likely to have in the past 7 years. I'd even go as far as saying he's in the same league as Martin O'Neill. The way he transformed Fulham, even with money was remarkable. If anyone cares to look further than the results that he has achieved, will see that Tigana had a Wenger-esque impact on Fulham in the way the club approached football such as their diet, training regime and other out of the box techniques. Tigana didn't infact spend that much money for the season they pissed this league, he got the most out of the squad he inherited from Paul Bracewell, but the players he did sign were hugely influential on their promotion to the Premiership. Tigana is reknown for getting the best out of young players as well, he has a knack of getting them to progress and he's done this at Monaco, Fulham and Besiktas. At Besiktas they were full of old players who were under-achieving and he transformed the club by buying younger unknown players and bringing players through from the youth team and he got results. Without Tigana, Besiktas wouldn't be in the Champions League this season, and wouldn't have enjoyed the 8-0 thrashing at Anfield! Our club is a shambles pretty much on and off the field and Mandaric is struggling to help change that. But Tigana is the man who can help him achieve that and he'll do it quickly. I don't care that Tigana has no affiliation with Leicester, like I don't care that Mandaric doesn't either. In every job Tigana has ever taken on as a player and manager, he's improved the clubs fortunes quite dramatically. Whether he fancies the job here is very much up in the air, I would be amazed to see him come here. But this is what Mandaric should be aiming for anyway, he claims he's ambitious, so go and get an ambitious manager who doesn't flatter to deceive but is the real deal. Give him the money and watch our club have a genuine chance of gaining promotion within the next few seasons. Without Tigana or a manager of his ilk, I fear for this club. We seem no better off than last season, even with Mandaric, all because this club has been ran so badly in the past several years and we've had managers that tie in with this nicely. Until we get one who's got that natural ability to succeed then it's pretty much game over on Mandaric's dream. Stump up for Tigana quickly, Milan and watch the crowds increase, the media attention for the right reasons increase and the adulation from the fans that you crave. Job done.
The Reverend Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Of the available candidates, Tigana is the best option by a mile. What have people like Royle, Reid etc ever done? They are average plodders who will be with average clubs for the rest of their careers, thats if they get a job between them again. Tigana is proven in this division, has took a team in a eerily similar situation to ours, into the Premiership and kept them there. Obviously he went on to get sacked and made a few bad buys, as all managers do. Look at Alex Ferguson. In our current plight he is without doubt the best choice we have. We've tried the young up 'n coming gaffer, the loud annoying disciplinarians, and all have failed in recent times. Its time for a a change. We need someone cultured, a foreigner to inject fresh ideas into the club. Push the boat out Milan. Do whatever it takes to get someone of this calibre.

Koke Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Trying my best not to get wet over this but its hard. And Ric Flair is spot on in what he said.
thybluefox Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Aye, completely agree Ric, we need somebody high profile, to get a good buzz going round the club again, and some excitement about the future.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Trying my best not to get wet over this but its hard. Spectacular quote. Always use "difficult", not "hard".

Great post but that in particular is something that needs addressing. We need the crowds to start coming down and they are not going to if we keep playing like we did under Megson and are continuing to under Burrows. If we get a manager in who can change the style of football we play it will go along way to increase the crowds and revenue. That has got to be a plus for Mandaric and thats why he needs to go for a manager with a positive outlook on the game. Its interesting what you say about Tigana bringing on youth as its clear that we need to start reeping the rewards from our youth system and developing them further. Sheehan, Stearman, Wesolowski, Mattock have all shown that they are capable of playing in the division and King, Gradel are making a good impression too. Then theres also players we have bought like Fryatt, Hayes, Sappleton who are all still young so he has a lot to work with.
Koke Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Spectacular quote.Always use "difficult", not "hard". Didn't quite notice that. It was an honest mistake
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 What Ric Flair said. If there's any truth in this whole thing I hope Milan is pulling out all the stops to persuade him to come. I'm sure that Joe Royle could have 'done a job' and improved the playing squad and results (which I'd settle for at the moment) but if Milan is as ambitious as he says he is then he needs someone to help transform the club throughout and build a footballing dynasty that will endure rather than need sweeping away every season or so as we've become used to. I'd have thought that Tigana was the best fit for such a role, rather than the journeymen that keep getting mentioned in the press, but it seems too good to be true...it doesn't mean I'm not wishing for it though
davieG Posted 14 November 2007 Posted 14 November 2007 Didn't quite notice that. It was an honest mistake Glad to see you're learning -I was expecting see cock up instead of honest mistake!
