Hang on there guys! What's all the excitement about? I mean, what the foxing hell did he achieve with Fulham apart getting the bullet from Mohammed Al-Fayed? Then again, I would sooner have him than all the other has beens that have been linked with the football club, i.e. Reid, Royle, Souness, Dowie, etc. But please, CALM DOWN DEARS, it's only a game!! We could do a lot worse than Steve Cotterill or Ian Holloway.

:whistle::whistle:

OK, I checked out history link & I concede, fairly average yeah? Probably best of a pretty uninspiring bunch, but I guess beggars can't be choosers!

I would be excited if Tigana joined as our manager.

I would be even more excited if he wore a french maids outfit too....

Interesting read, from 2001.

BBC Sport Online's Simon Austin profiles Jean Tigana, the man who has masterminded Fulham's promotion to the Premiership.

Manchester United fans are well aware of the part that Eric Cantona has played in building the Old Trafford dynasty.

But Fulham's followers could soon be lauding the Frenchman for his part in their very own success story.

Last summer, Cantona recommended Jean Tigana when Craven Cottage chairman Mohammed Al Fayed asked him who he should choose as his next manager.

Tigana took over a side that had failed to reach the First Division play-offs and has turned them into an outfit that have imperiously dominated the league this term.

Big-money signings have not been the reason for his success, as he has essentially stuck with the squad he inherited.

Instead, the 45-year-old has revolutionised the training and preparation of his players as well as transforming the way they play.

The Fulham squad knew they were in for a rude awakening shortly after Tigana's arrival when he hauled them in for pre-season training two weeks early.

He carted them off to France and forced them to get up at 6.30am each day to start the first of their three daily training sessions.

Midfielder Simon Morgan, who has been at Craven Cottage for 10 years, told the Fulham website: "I remember when training involved the manager standing at the top of a hill with a stopwatch and saying 'go'.

"Now we have people from the British Olympic Medical Centre giving us time trials and all sorts of tests."

Tigana also brought in a whole new team of backroom staff.

Arguably the most important was Christian Damiano, who had worked as technical coach at the French federation for several years.

A club dentist was even introduced because of Tigana's belief that you can tell a lot about a player's fitness from his teeth.

Some of Tigana's changes must have seemed bizarre to his charges, but it is a tribute to him that his players have done nothing but praise him since his arrival.

Tigana had never heard of Fulham before Al Fayed approached him.

He says he was attracted to Craven Cottage by the challenge of getting the club promoted and giving his wife and two children a new cultural experience.

In France, Tigana had been coach of Lyon, who he took to second in the league, and then Monaco, who he led to the semi-finals of the Champions League via a win over Manchester United in 1998.

Jean Tigana

Tigana: Part of great French midfield of 1984

As a player, he had been part of the great midfield quartet - also comprising Michel Platini, Luis Fernandez and Alain Giresse - that helped France win the 1984 European Championship.

The man himself has a reputation for being a remote and prickly character.

Even though he is renowned for his scientific approach to the game, he is not averse to giving his players a rollicking when required.

The Fulham bandwagon has only just started rolling. Tigana says "What I like best is bringing on young players."

Indeed, he nurtured the now formidable talents of Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet when he was at at Monaco, and has brought 20-year-old Sean Davis into Fulham's first-team this season.

So do we think we are gonna get a Press Conference tomorrow???

Personally I'm getting ****ing bored of all this chat about "possible" appointments... I want to see some thing happen. Positive or Negative at least we can stop speculating!

Mandaric isn't back until the weekend, so I doubt it. If it is Tigana and all that needs to be sorted is personal terms, i'd expect an announcement Monday or Tuesday.

To be fair to Mandaric, I thought it was a Business Trip that he's put off about 3 times but can't put it off any longer?

I have a horrible feeling that come Monday or Tuesday or whenever 99% of FT members will be very disappointed.

Please your horrible feelings to yourself.

I was going to keep it shut but I feel people should know that I have heard from a senior player that Mandaric is desperately trying to get someone already in a job (didn't actually tell me who). When I asked about Tigana he said it was the first he had heard. This doesn't mean it definitely won't be him and I'm sure chelve has good sources so keep your hopes up.

But Champagne Supernova will remain to re-write history and lead us straight on to football utopia. :scarf:

Strange that the original poster has gone to ground as well!! Wish I hadn't bothered getting excited!!

I saw Weso, Sheehan and Stearman out on Sunday night and was tempted to ask them what was going on but figured they'd be told at about the same time as us!

No problems... Milan can pay! Can't be any more than 100k as he's already been gone from them for quite some time... he could use some of the 300k's that we got for old carrot-top... well I say carrot-top but there isn't much left!

Don't know wether you remember (Academy Scout) but i posted some information about Tigana last week that he was meeting MM on friday, but it wasn't in Leicester, unfortunatley tho the forum crashed and that thread was deleted.

I now have more information, After the meeting on friday with MM, he was apprentley going back to france to speak to his family about managing Leicester, and was going to give MM a answer by wednesday.

No personal terms have been discussed, but have been told that he has accepted the challenge of the Leicester Position and will be discussing personal terms on fri with an advisor of the club and Milan will be coming back monday to make sure everything is signed and done.

Thats all i know at minute, ill let you know if i find anything else out.

If he was to give Milan an answer by Wednesday, any idea what the answer was?

Convinced this is not true now and we'll end up with Reid!!
