Jordan Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 I'm at work and I've had nothing to do, so I've just been checking the score updates. It was a great morning for me--these are a precious three points for LCFC.
NorthernFox Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Happy days, first win on Boxing Day since 1991.
DanTheFox07 Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Starting to see proof that ollie is the right man for the job here now! he spent his time looking at our squad deciding who was good enough to stay at the club and who we need to get rid of, he`s settled the side down last two games and those players obviously have been told still not be complacent and that they still have a lot to prove. Because of this the last two games has shown we have a balance in the team and a game plan, the only thing missing is our stikers getting amongst the goals instead of defence scoring all the time. I still stand by what i said though onwards and upwards now! would be nice if we could get wesolwski fit instead of playing ngotty in front of defence, but whenever he plays only seems to be on the pitch 30-40 mins b4 he`s injured. Looking forward to getting some wingers and a striker in jan.
Ozwin Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Sounded like a great first half and a quite eventful second half. I want videos of the referee getting blasted in the face though.
Leonisco Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Great win lads. Sounds like Ollie's clear out has given them the kick up the arse they needed.
Brainy Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Happy days, first win on Boxing Day since 1991. Didn't we win at Hull last Boxing Day
Jordan Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 EIEIEIO UP THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE WE GO ... AND WHEN WE AVOID RELEGATION, THIS IS WHAT WE'LL SING ...
Sods Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Just got back from watching my local game i atteneded. Then found this beauty, get in!
Webbo Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Brilliant.Stearman or Fryatt MoM. Agreed. I just wish it had been McAuley's goal, I did him and 2-0 in the score cast.
Monk Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Let's not get carried away. Ipswich were very poor today and really didn't offer much. However: The Good: -Clemence back on form. 2 great free kicks and solid in the centre. -N'Gotty had a quiet but solid game as a kind of sweeper today. Definately helped. -Stearman - A changed man? The Bad: -The Scoreboard resetting itself? Whats up with that!? -Fryatt: Yes lots of effort today but his distribution was woeful and I don't think he won a single header. The Ugly: -The Ref - awful dive, should have been sent off
Theboybroome Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 MOM got to be Kisnorbo, or the doppleganger that has taken over crappy Stearman and is actually quite good!
Flynny Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Fryatt: Yes lots of effort today but his distribution was woeful and I don't think he won a single header. Disagree. Wayward at times, but once he put the ball to the right of Hume between two men and all Hume had to do was stick a foot to it and he'd have a shooting chance. Loved Fryatt today. I'm always banging on about him giving us an extra dimension and today he was at it more than ever.
Ozwin Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 By the sounds of things it was a good overall performance. Clemence back to his Birmingham form and we have width, ACTUAL WIDTH in the side. Let's just hope it continues. We all know we get far to expectant in the next game and are let down again.
MPH Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 just got back, toastied sarnie on its way.... it was an efficient performance by us., nothing blindingly skillful, but we got the job done.. i'm not sure what ipswich's problem was, but they were truely woeful which made us look even better than we were, i fear.. But enjoyed the game immensley!! Fryatt had a good game, so did chambers and stearman.. N'Gotty bless, him, isnt a mid but played as well as he could.. MOTM for me would go to Stearman or Fryatt... Collins John only had one clear chance and it was an awful shot. truly awful but he appeared to move arounbd a bit more than normal... so
Matt Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Very happy, Played fairly well, but I don't want to get too carried away with these players yet, only a week and a half ago we were slagging them off, Holloway bollocking has obviously motivated them, and just because they have shown improvement, it's all too little too late, and we still need all the new players we were planning and hoping for. MOM - Clemence or Stearman. Ollie admitted Stearman was one the he gave a big bollocking to, clearly worked, just wonder how long it will last, but Stearman's been great in the last two games, fair play to him, keep it up!
Raj Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 A very decent performance indeed. And at times we actually tried to PLAY FOOTBALL!!! No one was bad. Except the ref!!! Fair play to the players as the erecnt critisism by Ollie was required and they have responded wel. The Sit-up celebration may even have been a little dig back at him if he said they were unfit or whatever!!! Obviously it goes without saying that ALOT of work is stil needed but we are going the right way. Well done!
Thracian Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Excellent performance in a workmanlike sense. Someone must have been reading these posts because Fryatt had his best full match for a long time and really operated as part of the team. He showed he could do for a game what he sometimes does for 25/30 minutes. He foraged back and not only took people on from deepish positions but delivered good passes to the flanks and elsewhere. Stearman too followed on from last week with another high-energy display of non-stop determination. If he kept up the standard of his last two efforts he'd be among the very best right backs in the division and what a difference James Chambers has made to him. Chambers makes the runs into space that previous right sided midfielders never did and between the pair of them they really are able to support attacks with some relevence. Its just a pity Chambers has no idea how to take people on or deliver a final telling pass. Another thing Stearman has clearly put right is his defensive urgency. There was no laying off people and giving them time either against Wolves or today. Right from the first few minutes when he collected a booking he bit into his opponents and gave them no spare time at all. Our centre-backs were outstanding in the heart of defence and Clemence emerged with two vital assists for what was surely Stearman's first goal and Kisnorbo's second. He also managed a few shots and clearances from his own penalty area, making a refeshingly positive contribution after too much dross. People have said our team is not good enough to compete at the right end of the Championship but had we had this approach and this attitude all along we would never have been anywhere near the bottom three. Holloway had us playing to our strengths and trying to maintain the same tempo throughout. We even looked quite fit and kept defending fairly high and with positive intent as illustrated by the break near the end when Hume had a left foot shot saved by the keeper. The moved involved four Leicester players really driving forward towards the Ipswich box. And how much pressure did that sort of determination take from our defence?
Steven Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Didn't we win at Hull last Boxing Day At home I think he means.
Tommeh Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Good performance and a much needed win. proof for me again that the vast majority of these players can do it. Obviously consistancy is a big problem. Clemence looked back to his early season self and N'Gotty looked capable in midfield again. Hume looked lively as did chambers and the two centre halves a constant threat at set pieces. with Mattock and stearman solid and Fulop hopefully getting the message from L1 that we're desperate to sign him. and please dont get me started on Matty Fryatt, he was excellant today. I've often believed that on his day he's beeter than most in this division and today he well and truely proved it. Everytime he got the ball he looked a threat often cutting in or creating from deep the only thing missing was a clear cut chance and a well deserved goal. Decent atmsophere in L1 too, Ipswich fans were terrible and collins John's 1st half stot was the funniest thing I've EVER seen in a football match!! Including what happened to the ref.
