SamL Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Im gonna be serious for a minute B4 i have me dinner! I dont like thisL1 is better than The Kop or The Kop is Better tha n L1 talk. We all are free to sit where we want for whatever reason we want. Not everone in L1 sings and shouts and stands up. Not everyone in The Kop is quiet and non enthusiastic. We all go for our own reasons BUT primarily to support our team. No use arguing like a bunch of girls'who make the most noise'is it? We should all aim to make as much noise as possible regardless of where you sit. Im boring now..... Raj that has got to be one of the most sensible things you have said in my time on this forum. No offence like mate.

Wezleylowski Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 You simply have to give me that diet sheet Am I in your sig for making such a sweeping generalisation or because you agree?
Daggers Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Am I in your sig for making such a sweeping generalisation or because you agree? Because it made me laugh - don't worry, I have the attention span of a fish and will have changed it for something else within minutes.

Daggers Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 OI L1 ERS....DID YOU GET ANY HOT FOOD IN THE HALF TIME BREAK OR WAS IT ALL SOLD OUT??? I thought you'd gone for your teatime...
WetFlannel Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 OI L1 ERS....DID YOU GET ANY HOT FOOD IN THE HALF TIME BREAK OR WAS IT ALL SOLD OUT??? I was in F2 and they didnt have any pies or no yorkies because of some reason i cant remember, i wasnt best pleased
Raj Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I thought you'd gone for your teatime... Mrs is flapping about in the Kitchen as we talk. Making a big deal out of it. Must try and get a younger model!!!!!
Wezleylowski Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 For some reason, the only thing that motivates the "South Stand" is a brawl or a late challenge, in my opinion it got louder. I agree sir. And for the record I don't really care either where the noise is created in the ground as long as it is. Just as long as I'm as far away from L1 as possible I'm all goood
Sods Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Whats everyone going to do when L1 is demolished.
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 i think 1 of the main problems with the "kop" is the lack of syncranization, if they people that do sing could sing the same thing at the same time it would make a massive difference, i have lost count of the times i have 1 chant going to my left and a different 1 to my right, i think Jobbers drum is wasted in L1 and could be much more effective in the "kop"

Jimmy Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Jobber loves it in L1 i dint say jobber had to move, just the drum would be more effective in the "kop"
Wezleylowski Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 You can have the drum Jobbers seems exhausted after a few renditions of uh uh, uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh, LESTAAA
SamL Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Jobbers seems exhausted after a few renditions of uh uh, uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh, LESTAAA He seemed to be giving it some welly today. It seemed a lot louder than on previous occasions. Or was that just me?
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 He seemed to be giving it some welly today. It seemed a lot louder than on previous occasions. Or was that just me? tbh i only heard it a couple of times. but he may well do it for the whole game for all i know
lee7 Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Get up to the top of L1 Raj, I fear your talents are being wasyed further downGood atmsophere all round today in my opinon. L1 2nd half with the "ollies army" chant was rocking and almost forced the goal in itself. Kop looked good, charlton fans were poor and we totally outsung them, job done form the crowd? I think so. people do sing further down in L1 but just don't stand.
Maybes Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I agree sir. And for the record I don't really care either where the noise is created in the ground as long as it is. Just as long as I'm as far away from L1 as possible I'm all goood Stereotype
WetFlannel Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I don't think the Kop will ever work now unless people are going to actually stay in it. It seems alot of people are being tempted with the move to L1, leaving only a very small group of us.
AoWW Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Hey that's me with the ear ring I can see the resemblance, tbf. I don't think the Kop will ever work now unless people are going to actually stay in it. It seems alot of people are being tempted with the move to L1, leaving only a very small group of us. I think many people have given the south stand a chance but, IMO, it does lack atmosphere. I agree that the guys and girls in the top few rows put in a fantastic effort but, ultimately, it cannot be heard that well in other parts of the ground, mainly due to the poor acoustics. The key difference is that those in L1 and K1 are smaller in number and are therefore grouped much closer together, so when they're singing it's as one. In the south stand you get one block singing one thing, the next block singing something else, etc, so the effect is diluted. I don't think you can blame people for wanting to move when there are 'better' options (in my opinion). Apologies if that leaves 'only a very small group' in the 'kop' but I for one go to games to enjoy the matchday experience, not to sit religiously in one particular place being a martyr. Not having a season ticket means I've experienced sitting/standing in many different parts of the ground (except for L1, obviously, but don't get me started on it being ST only ) and from that I've drawn my own conclusions over where I prefer to be.

There is nothing wrong with the acoustics of the stadium, the fans are to blame. When The Walkers makes some noise it is superb, there is a crackle in the air. The away fans demonstrate that. The fact remains that fans have got to make a decision, those in the back of The Kop can persevere or they can make a choice. I was reluctant to leave the South Stand after so many seasons of being a season ticket holder, but i felt my efforts would be more meaningful elsewhere. Supporters need to consider their options. Singers in The Kop will never group together and it will always be diluted. It will always attract the fair-weather fan too, which never helps matters. The great thing about L1 and K block it that you do not get your average Joe going there, they will always opt for The Kop because they want a matchday experience and believe they will find it in the so-called heart of the football club. I can wax lyrical about this forever, and i mulled over my decision for ages, but i am glad to be associated with L1. I have a degree, i am a teacher and i do not mind socialising with so-called "twats" and "chavs" (although i am yet to find any supporter that fits these categories). L1 and K block are getting better each and every game. I even heard chants in the East Stand yesterday because of the efforts of L and K block. I wish South Stand was a "real" Kop, but unfortunately it flatters do deceive. If it was moved, i think you would find out who the true kopites were.

You seem to have spectacularly misunderstood my post. Basically, we are agreed on all of those points except, perhaps, the acoustics! Read it again and you'll see I have absolutely no issues with L1 and K1.
