Ultra Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 This is a curious statement to make given this comment about that particular game on wikipedia: His performances against Leicester City and West Ham, the games that won Sunderland promotion to the Premiership and Championship win respectively, were impressive. Now I'm well aware that Wikipedia is about as reliable as Henderson but it's interesting that someone specifically commented on that particular game from that season, a comment that directly contradicts yours. Mind, we have been treated to some excellent keepers over the years so perhaps your standards are a little higher than the average supporter at other clubs. I thought he looked very nervous, although he did make a couple of saves in the game. My contacts in Sunderland were not impressed by him, and he didn't last too long in the first team during the following "15 points" season. Obviously I wish him all the best during his time with us, but would have preferred a more experienced and confident keeper.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 I think Fulop would like to join us permanently, but we need £3,000,000 unfortunately! Well I wouldn't be suprised if that 3 Million comes down a bit now - Sunderland will be gutted I'm sure, because I expect, they need the money!
Matt Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Ironic, As soon as Fulop went Alnwick phoned Stearman saying "Get me at Leicester City" so he wants to be here by the sounds of things and its evident Stearman doesn't, How ironic?! No seriously, I've never heard of this lad, but looking at his record at CV i'm quite happy with this signing. This is no disrespect on Fulop, and it wouldn't and isn't aimed at him BUT I hope Fulop doesn't get a move now to spite Keane, sadly if that was to happen Fulop wouldn't be playing 1st team football and in alot of lower Premiership team, certainly Championship teams he'd walk straight into a team - Perhaps Keano should have a look at him for himself...But I hope Keano's plan of uping and uping the price has backfired!
Bert Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Just seen his interview, seems eager to just want to play and excited that it's for us. Asked Stearman to try and get him here!
stevie909 Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 does anyone know if we have the option to purchase at the end of the season?
Sods Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 To be honest hes going to be much better then Henderson. He won't be in the same form as Fulop was straight away, so i hope he isn't judged by a few games.
Eastern Fox Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 does anyone know if we have the option to purchase at the end of the season? I don't think so, doesn't mention it in the OS article. Spurs only bought him from Sunderland last year, he's probably one for the future for them.
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Why Have we not learned that loan keepers are NO good in the end. They will go back and we'll be in the same situation yet again. Buy the players!
Leicester Lass Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Why Have we not learned that loan keepers are NO good in the end. They will go back and we'll be in the same situation yet again. Buy the players! Because he is better than any keeper we can realistically afford/will be willing to come to us?
FilboFox Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Great news this... whether he will make up the loss of Fulop will have to be seen... but he does look promising and should be a good signing. Lets hope that he will be a good goalie and then we can get him permanently!
Suffolk_fox Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 I've seen him play once, Cov vs Sunderland opening day of last season, he seemed pretty competent.I like this from wikipedia about him: Orgy Sex Tape Scandal On December 7, 2006, tabloid newspaper The Sun reported Alnwick, along with team-mates Chris Brown and Liam Lawrence had filmed themselves in an orgy with a brunette girl referred to as 'Stevie', (Stevie Leigh Mason - Miss Sunderland). In the video, Brown is said to give "Match of the Day" style commentary as his team-mates perform sexual acts on the girl. Former Sunderland midfielder Martin Woods also features on the tape partially clothed performing a sex act on himself, along with two other men. On December 8, The Sun reported that the girl in the video was just 16 years old, with the girl claiming she had no idea she was being filmed. So apart from the girl not knowing she was being filmed (which is conjecture) what has he done wrong here? Gotta love the Tabloid gutter press. If I was famous, I'd never be off the front page with some of the japes I've been up to.....
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Because he is better than any keeper we can realistically afford/will be willing to come to us? Yh but this time next window it'll be the same thing again surley. I'm in favour of him coming I just think it would be betta if we signed a keeper and put some real thought into it
Super Arj Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 thank the lord henderson doesnt have to play again this season
Jack Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 thank the lord henderson doesnt have to play again this season  Well let's hope not anyway.
Bert Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 I still think we'll sign Alnwick or Fulop in the summer.
Joe. Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 I still think we'll sign Alnwick or Fulop in the summer. I reckon you're right. That's unless somebody beats us to it of course...

MPH Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Why Have we not learned that loan keepers are NO good in the end. They will go back and we'll be in the same situation yet again. Buy the players! i think loan Keepers are excellent! If hadnt of had fulop and had henderson all season i only dread to think what our goals against tally would be reading... we are now 4th from Bottom and our chances of getting in quality keepers any other way are very slim indeed.. This guy is keeping the regular man City Keeper ( Joe Hart) out of the england u21 side....
Daggers Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Why Have we not learned that loan keepers are NO good in the end. They will go back and we'll be in the same situation yet again. Buy the players! Explain this to me Point out the bit where not having a shite overweight keeper tied to the club on a huge contract for the next three years is a bad thing... Loans have their purpose and the only thing that vexes you is a simple matter of not having a determined future. Life is like that (so says Avril Lavigne) so embrace the uncertainty. Embrace it Sc8terboi

I saw this video at the time, it was fooking ridiculous. 'Match of the Day style' commentary, more like David Pleat, it was horiffic.
Raj Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Oh oh oh...i cant contain myself...im so excited that we have signed a quality proven goalkeeper!! Im really excited by this signing.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Why Have we not learned that loan keepers are NO good in the end. They will go back and we'll be in the same situation yet again. Buy the players! Two words: Jimmy Neilsen.
wirralsimon Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Should be good with the media too, at least we know he is comfortable in front of a camera!
