Before i start i just want to make it clear im not the one night stand kind of person or the casual sex kind of person either. I'm a Christian and she is a Christian too. I'd love to ask for sensible responses only but i fear thats beyond some of you.. lol

Have been looking after a patient these last few days and been getting on well with their relatives... Great people, you know sometimes you just click with people?

Well on sunday these lovely folk suddenly announce they have a friend who is a nurse in Derby and they think i would get on great with her. Apparently she is a really nice woman and we would be great together both bubbly personalities, always joking, ect - i talked about me being a single guy a few hours before. Next thing i know the guy is getting me to stand against a curtain trying to take a photo of me to pass onto his friend " no left a bit, right a bit.. no there isnt enough light over here , go over there" that kind of thing. All very embaressing as all the other nurses were watching this with great hilarity... I know when i go back to work tomorrow everyone will know aboout it. and i will be ridiculed till the cows come home...

Well these guys have never tried to set anyone up before, apparently and they 'just know we will get on great' I get home that day to find she has messaged me on facebook!!

She is a Derby fan!

what do i do?!? i mean... she lives in Derby and everything!!!

You want a serious answer???

You come to the right man!

What you wanna do is...FCUK HER ROTTEN!!

Actually...seriously...Dont let things like that get in the way pal.

If you get on well with someone such insignificant aspects like"who she supports" shouldnt get in the way.

Hope you find true love!

That sounds terrible.

Leicester have had passages of passing play which last longer than my sexual endeavours...

I could b nice about this BUT...

Dont be a fcuking cretin!!!

Just go out with her and see how it goes.

Dont let her supporting Derby influence things!

She's probably more worried about meeting a fcuking Leicester City supporter!!!!

Fcuk sake i feel like Dear Deirdre!!!

Go with the flow Bro!!!!!

So convert her, you mean?

No, just live with it, it doesn't matter. My GF stopped careing about football properly years ago (when she decided she loved Eminem more than David Beckham aged around 14/15) Trust me, It'd be better to go out with a girl who has some interest in football than none at all even if she is a Derby Fan.

its what i need to hear, thanks. Its just i guess the whole idea of being set up with someone, maybe... looking at the fact she is a Derby fan is probably just excuses i am trying to find.

Well if you were looking for a good excuse I'm afraid thats not the excuse you were looking for. ;)

You've not even had a date and you're mentioning marriage. Maybe your offspring will turn out to be Forest fans or prefer rugby. Unless you have a crystal ball I'd just get the first date over with before worrying about the future with her. But just to be on the safe side use a condom.

Yes.

When she brings a goat/sheep into the sexual scene, dissapear.

Nah, don't worry about it. My other half has sinned far greater than being a Derby fan, I actually had to explain the rules of the game to her as we sat and watched Leicester against Notts County in the pre season game. Then she had the cheek to say it was cold and she was bored!

She's better than the previous one though, who'd thought that they'd changed shirts at half time, I actually had to explain they'd changed ends.

My gf doesn't even like football, and I think that's worse.

Seriously, why on earth should it matter. I've got mates who are Rams fans and some that are Forest. There's a lot of banter and friendly rivalry, but they're decent people. Some people will be shocked to hear it, but the fans of other clubs are generally JUST LIKE US, but support a team that wears a different kit. Crazy notion, innit?

That sums it up really. It's the fans that make football what it is, without us they'd be nothing. I also have mates that support other teams that we play on a more regular basis such as Coventry and WBA and we have some really good banter. The best comes from the Derby lads though as it's just that bit more extra special due to the nature of it. We all have a good laugh about it and they actaully mentioned earlier this year that it's a shame we aren't in the same division as they've missed the banter. I'd prefer to be in a league full of our closest rivals rather than see them fail, football is changing as the fans move away from era where rival fans hated each other.

That's obvious.

Don't rush into things. See how the first date turns out and take it from there. It's way too early to speculate about marriage or potential incompatibility, especially with third parties on a message board.

Hope it goes well for you.

All my mums side of the family were Derby fans when my old man first met her. She soon turned.

Shouldnt matter what football club she supports. if you like go for it. if there is one thing i have learnt if you have an opertunity to be with someone you love/really like take it. Being single and getting off and flirting with whoever you want etc gets tedious over time. i would even get with a plymouth fan if i really liked her! and that is almost like suicide atm.
