Isiah Osbourne (Villa)

How? What he says is correct.

Regardless of whether or not he is being played out of position, the fact is if he was good enough in training to merit a strikers role at that level he would have made the berth his own. The fact that he cant even command a regular striking role at that level says something about the lads future in the game and although players improve after moves or even with experience, I`d doubt that Louis Dodds will be one that goes on to have more than a lower league career.

I hope I am wrong for his sake as I have nothing personally against him but the signs aren't so good.

Is he coming or not? How dead can his leg be? I'm actually disappointed we havent brought anyone in so far this week. Which is ridiculous of me. Was a bit spoiled last week I think!

I know what you mean, i was looking forward to seeing maybe 1 or 2 new faces again this week. But then again, the week isnt over yet! :)

I think in a way the lack of activity this week may be a good sign. It shows that we are not just going to throw money away in an inflated money just because we can, or at least because it is percieved that we can. Also, we must remember that there is a lot of deadwood to shift. Milan did mention the wage bill in an interview this week, and although he also said that building a successful side comes before such matters, there is only so much strain a good business man will be willing to take.

Perhaps it was so dead they had to cut it off

There's an article in Villa's local paper today saying it's still on the cards, but we've heard that plenty of times already. It will only be for a month however.

Villa midfielder set for Foxes switch

14:06 January, 16, 2008

Isaiah Osbourne is poised to join Leicester City on a month's loan

"Osbourne has had a bruised thigh now for about a week, but he is getting there," said Martin O'Neill of the 20-year-old.

"Leicester have asked about him going on loan. I said 'yes' and had he been fit he might have gone last week. First of all, before he does anything, he has to get fit.

"I have said in general terms that now we are out of the FA Cup and the games are down to one a week, in many aspects it might be good for him to get a couple of games.

"You are always torn between boys going out on loan and then picking up some injuries.

"It is a balancing act the whole time but Isaiah would only go for a month, and maybe get some games he needs in the time he's away from us."

I really don't see the point of Ollie getting this guy in for a month, by the time he has adjusted and settled into the team (thats if he plays at all) the month loan will be up!

As O'neill has already said "it will only be for a month"

We should concentrate on permanant signings or season long loans, which can lead to something.

I can only see this as a disruption to us. :nono::thumbdown:

Good back up?

A good backup maybe, but only for a month. I'm agreeing when I say when it would only disrupt the balance the team is regaining.

I can see this little transfer saga being a waste of our time, I hope I'm wrong.

I really can't see the point of borrowing a player for a month, till the end of the season perhaps. It's not like we have a major injury that we need cover for.

Ollie would do better to buy someone permanently or improving the players we've got.

There'll be an option to extend/buy.

Not according to the Brum Mail;

If this still happens, it makes sense to wait until tommorrow to do the deal, as Osbourne will be eligible for an extra game then. After we got Oakley, who apparently came out of nowhere (thank you again Jewell and Savage...), he can only be here for backup, which does not makes sense with Weso and King around....

All they know is that he's here for a month. So that's what they say. As it is that's the case. I feel there'll be an option to buy/extend.

Leicester City are hopeful of completing the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne in the next 24 hours.

Osbourne is set to join in a month-long deal and he will be available for City's Championship trip to Norwich on Saturday.

City had hoped the signing would be completed last week but it was delayed after Osbourne picked up a dead leg.

Now, manager Ian Holloway is hopeful he has recovered from the problem and will train with his squad.

The City boss said: “I think he has got over his dead leg and will be coming into train with us.”

Osbourne, 20, has started one Premier League game for Villa this season, as well as playing in two Carling Cup ties, including City's 1-0 win at Villa Park.

He also played in last season's Carling Cup game between the two teams at the Walkers Stadium, a clash Villa won 3-2.

Villa manager Martin O'Neill told the Birmingham Mail: “Leicester have asked about him going on loan. I said €˜yes' and had he been fit he might have gone last week. First of all, before he does anything, he has to get fit.

“It is a balancing act the whole time, but Isaiah would only go for a month and maybe get some games he needs in the time he's away from us.”

Holloway, meanwhile, rejected speculation linking clubs with moves for his defenders Gareth McAuley and Joe Mattock.

City have turned down a seven-figure offer from an unnamed Premier League team for Mattock, while Ipswich have been rebuffed in a bid for McAuley.

Holloway said: “I don't deal with speculation. It's the maddest time of the year but it means we have some half-decent players if people are talking about them.

“Gareth McAuley has been excellent since I have been here. He will learn and improve in a regular system and a regular team. Joe Mattock is a very good player and a Leicester City player.”
