A sight for sore eyes

Ok after yesterday's novel performance things you saw that have been a rarity for LCFC for many a year.

A home win

2 goals scored by, surprise, surprise strikers

2 goals scored from open play

11 round pegs in 11 round holes (ok some of you may doubt Stearman at RB ;) but that's his current position)

2 midfielders playing in mid-field

I'm sure there were more - let's have them!

I was only able to hear the radio commentary but from that I got -

Fan noise for 90 minutes!

and John Barber sounding excited! (instead of his usual droning deadpan)

Hit and Miss, Could have been louder but improvement, and IF we carry on the way we played yesterday we will only get louder.

This is what i've always said when it comes to the atmopshere, It starts with the players, they show us something to shout about we will, when they heads do drop or they need to be carried through the fan noise that they have created will hopefully bring them through, but if they don't show us anything or do anything to excite us why should we bother...C'mon City, Good times ahead, Let just hope it's not another false hope though! We're turning the corner slowly!

Aye Matt, that was what I meant - the fan noise on the radio was an indication of how well we we're playing - normally you just get "and Steve, how can City stop this rot?" over the sound of the excited away commentor

too be fair, barber has been a new man the last few games, mind you that comes after seting an all time low standard of bollox...

but, guess it's like someone was saying about crowd noise, it's not like he's much to get excited about.

still think he is rubbish tho... so no change there

clemence played much better now he has got someone good alongside him.

Clemence was great and I was pleased for him but I shouldn't read too much into that - ANYONE would have played better with Oakley alongside them. His very style of play assists his team mates and makes life easier for them.

What amazes me is that we've gone so long without such players. I still can't get over the Oakley/Savage thing. Savage is such a messy player, not at all easy to play alongside or anticipate.

Oakley is a tidy but essentially simple footballer whose competence in so many situations will do nothing but aid the flow of our play. I'd sooner have Oakley than Savage anytime at this stage of their respective careers.

Oakley didn't quite cut it in the Premiership whereas Savage is a proven player in the topflight as he's been playing there for most part of his career. As much of a **** that he is, Savage is actually good at what he does. Break-up the play and not scared of putting his foot in.

Savage wouldn't only look good in this division but he'd run most games as efficient as Oakley, if not better.

Watching all those Cov fans sneak out with time to go. And seeing width to our team , the wingers complimented one another l felt , Bori seemed more direct and pacey , but the other kid had a poise and swagger and a jink that gave us another dimension as well as coming off the touchline to make a third striker at times, good in the air too.

Our two centre midfielders running the middle of the park.

Everyone playing in position.

Winning and also putting in a good performance at home.

Happy Days :D
