Master Fox Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I've been tempted by 160gig...but I can't help feeling that I'd just fill it with crap I'd never listen to.And then it would stop working like everyone else's iPod. If you feel you'd get a lot of use out it then I’d buy it. I absolutely love my I-pod. It's the best piece of technology ever invented and worth every penny.
Master Fox Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I had a 100gig mp3/movie player once and I never got it halfway full. 160gig would just mean you have more crap to cry over when it goes wrong. I always rip my mp3's/recordings to cd.
Rincewind Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Anyone watch CLICK the early morning tech program on at the weekends early morning on BBC1? Last one I saw there was one player that was interchangerble. IE. unplug one side and plug it in the the back for an Ipod and camera/video. The way the technology is going the things are out of date before they reach the stores. I won't rush out and buy any of the stuff just yet. My priority is a boring. A fridge freezer. My old fridge still works and my chest freezer functionable but they are old and awkward to use. I have a MP3 which is going wrong. Just flashes and wont play. Never used it much anyway. Trouble is when you get these things you have to get the new tape/discs to record the stuff on. More expense. OK if you're young and have no bills to pay and have parents to pay for it I suppose.
Guest Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 There is also the Arcos 605 which claims to be the most advanced portabe media player on the market today. I have a 604 (without wifi) and it is fantastic I have the Archos 605 - it is good.
hairy Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I have the Archos 605 - it is good. Best thing about them is being able plug them into the telly and watch the films on it, kept the kids quiet on rainy holidays many times. I also like the ability to rip your old vinyl collection to mp3.
Daggers Posted 17 January 2008 Author Posted 17 January 2008 I have the Archos 605 - it is good. Eight times thicker, six times heavier...and it has buttons. But I'm interested because it won't use iTunes. What film formats does it play and what's the battery life like? I had one of the first Archos' and it was shit with a capitol F.
Daggers Posted 17 January 2008 Author Posted 17 January 2008 I have the Archos 605 - it is good. Why did you leave out one very salient point... IT. RUNS. ON. LINUX! Wow. Now I'm interested.
Daggers Posted 17 January 2008 Author Posted 17 January 2008 I have the Archos 605 - it is good. Did you pay for the plug-ins?
Alexikokopops Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Now that I have an external hard-drive I have all my music with me at Uni, so I'm tempted. However the amount I download (perfectly legally I hasten to add) means that it'd just get annoying after a while. i'm gonna wait until they bring out a bigger capacity given the fact that my current iPod works fine anyway. My God they're sexy though.
Bert Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 17 hours in this test...which seems fine for me.I don't want anything bulky so this seems ideal. Damn. I'm going to get slapped something silly when the wife finds out what I've done with the kids food money. I hope.

My God they're sexy though. same here 16gb is just far to small I don't think it's possible the change your playlist as you can never tell when you want to listen to that random cover version or remix!! as I have been on emusic 18months now you can imagine how much I have downloaded from them alone, not forgetting the 1000+ cds I own!! 16gb is just to small as for the sexiness Apple designers are just the best no matter how much you hate apple there designs are just flawless the new macbook air is sooooooooooooo sexy as well
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 itouch = mp3 playeriphone = phone The way the new itouch is, it won't be long before the technologies meet in the middle. Obviously it already does in a way with the phone, but you sacrifice certain things. Another couple of years and the two will become one. Spice Girls have already done that back in the 90's son. Music quality is somewhat to be desired.
Babylon Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Spice Girls have already done that back in the 90's son. Music quality is somewhat to be desired. I was wondering how long it would be before someone said that!!!
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I was wondering how long it would be before someone said that!!! Trust me to be the one that took the worm.
Babylon Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Trust me to be the one that took the worm. Not the first time hey...
hairy Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Did you pay for the plug-ins? I know you dont need any video plug-ins if you use pocketdivxencoder which is free. Converts any movie in about 20 minutes
Daggers Posted 17 January 2008 Author Posted 17 January 2008 I know you dont need any video plug-ins if you use pocketdivxencoder which is free. Converts any movie in about 20 minutes You have to pay twelve-odd quid to play VOB files. Or visit isoHunt
Simi Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Daggers, get one. I got one for Christmas and love it. Make sure you take advantage of the internet though. Mine is 8gb and I've had no problems at all. It's quite long but I barely ever notice it in my pocket. Well worth the money I think.
Uncle Albert Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Tommeh has got one, pretty nice peice of technology!
DB11 Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 They are on display in Carphone Warehouse and you can play with em - I think they're crap
Ashley Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 There alright my mate has one and we listen to it in lessons
Joe. Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I've looked at them but I'm much more tempted by the 80gb classic Ipod. Ipod touch 8gb= £230 Ipod Classic 80gb= £150. That is why. Plus, I like the idea of lots of space to just put anything on there.

Joe. Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I could never fill a 80gb Ipod, think i would struggle with an 8gb aswell. Ahh no I know I'd never fill it but it's nice to know you can just stick anything on without having to worry about space. And you can put viedos/photos on there too so I think it'd probably fill up quicker than you think.
lildave3 Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I'm happy with my old school iPod thankyou very much.
