Alexikokopops Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I'm planning to go to Ireland for a few days in a few weeks. Anyone know a good place to go which isn't quite as ridiculously expensive as Dublin? The main aim is having shits and giggles and getting a bit drunk.
Head Honcho Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I know Dublin is expensive but it is the best place to go, here's a good place to stay and right in the heart of Temple Bar. http://www.gogartys.ie/ If you don't fancy Dublin then Cork is supposed to be the next best. Haven't been yet myself but Belfast is the place to go now they say.
Webbo Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 No offence but I can't see the attraction of Ireland for a piss up, they sell exactly the same beer as you can get here and the weather is worse.
Finnegan Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I hear the Bogside's a blast. ... No offence but I can't see the attraction of Ireland for a piss up, they sell exactly the same beer as you can get here and the weather is worse. But it's all about the craic. Or something.

We're not going for a piss up, that's just an aside. I have the week off and just fancy going to Ireland for a couple of days because it's a couple of days I'd spend in Coventry otherwise Been having a look at Dublin and can get travel there and back and accommodation for £60 each so could well end up there anyway. Keen.
MPH Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Galway is quite a nice little town. West coast. was there for new years eve a few years back.. When i went there it had the hugest pub i have ever seen. Called " The Quay" You just kept on going up stairs, through doors and round corners and down some more staris and along corridors.. and everywhere i went people were drinking... Or it could of just been two rooms top and bottom of a staircase and i was drunk.... Oh and work out your Gaelic as i ended up in the womens toilets.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 There's a village named Muff that's on the coast, so you can go diving there! Honest! Muff - Ireland See!
Ultra Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Anywhere along the west coast is fine, as long as you can hire a car. The scenery and hospitality are superb, and the locals also tend to be a little "relaxed" about pub opening hours..
