Babylon Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I agree - pity we can't say the same about Comical Ollie - can anyone seriously see him making an impact against real managers?A clash of personalities with a gifted 21-year old - and he lets him go to an ambitious club - well done - you plonker. Ollie will never take us to the Premier League - ever - but he will amuse us with stupidity occasionally - he is out of his depth. Hayles - Clapham - Howard - Laczko - Bori - inspiring signings! - Alex Ferguson is seriously worried tonight - Alnwick is a good signing - oh - on loan. Come on Leicester - we are a better club than many of the Premier League - lets get a leader. The whiskey is good tonight - and the transfer window is like Ollies pea brain - CLOSED. Real managers? like who... Warnock? Oh yeah just beat him, that's the kind of manager we have to be worrying not Alex Ferguson. The Players we have signed just helped us to 7 points from 9 so they currently seem to be doing the trick. "we are a better club than many of the Premier League" its that twattish attitude that has helped ruin this club.

I am no apologist for IH but as I have said all along he has a good mindset and at the moment he is moving the Club forward. True I am not sure he has got promotion with a side and he might blow it if we ever get the play offs(next year ). As none of us really know he might also do a fantastic job. Whilst that comical exterior might mask insecurities it should not prevent him from matching himself against many PL managers as frankly apart from 4 or 5 I am not sure I would want any of them here.

You're one of those chaps who has/is a double arsehole, you're special. If you asked all 24 managers in this division if they'd have liked to have signed Howard, Alnwick & Oakley and I reckon pretty much all of them would jump at the chance. Especially Oakley who was an absolute steal. The Hungarians are an unknown quantity, we're not in a position to sign the best wingers available. There are often players that start off unknown and make their mark and go on to be quality, after 3 games the two Hungarians look better than anything we've had on the wing this season. Howard scored 20 goals last season, enough said. Hayles has 2 goals already in 3 starts, not bad for a fat 35 year old. 7 points in 9, a tally we'd never of gotten without these new signings.
Daggers Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 This whole "Sheehan is going to get good experience and will be back as a better player" is rapidly turning into this season's "What is a rolling contract?". HE IS OUT OF CONTRACT IN THE SUMMER HE HAS NOT BEEN OFFERED A CONTRACT HE HAS BEEN FARMED OUT HE IS NOT COMING BACK By the way, in case anyone has missed it, HE IS OUT OF CONTRACT IN THE SUMMER

Thanks - its nice when someone takes your argument apart with facts rather than opinionated hypothesis - Has Sheeehan been offered a new contract yet?
Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Thanks - its nice when someone takes your argument apart with facts rather than opinionated hypothesis - Has Sheeehan been offered a new contract yet? And would facts really have made you think otherwise? It's all about opinions, but I think you're being a little harsh on Holloway. Again, although it's opinion, a lot of Derby fans were outraged that Howard and Oakley were sold when they'll be exactly the sorts of players they'll need for next season back in The Championship. If you don't think 20 goals from Howard last season is that impressive, then that's up to you. But i'd challenge to find a striker of his ilk that we could realistically afford who would score more goals at this level. Likewise a central midfielder who will dominate possession as much as Oakley and Clemence will do together.

But could we find a better striker than Howard for 1.5 million?? Of course we could.

Varney - Failure Eastwood - Failure Campbell - Failure Sharpe - Failure McLeod - Failure £1.5m does not buy you much. You either get someone untried at this level, a one season wonder, or an aging striker who has done it at this level.
James. Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 If only Hammond was fit Didn't realise he was injured.
Daggers Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Didn't realise he was injured. Don't know about that - I just know I don't fancy him is all. I really wish he was fit then I could offer him something to do during these long winter nights.
Durnerz Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Glad we've placed him at the level he belongs at. A second rate left back hidden behind a decent set piece delivery. Theres much better out there than this Stef Oakes wannabee.
Wooly Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Embarrasing that he gets so much attention on these forums. He's a load of dogshit lads, and will never make it at this level. In fact, nobody from our academy has made it even at Championship level for the last decade... it remains to be seen whether Wesolowski will buck this trend I suppose. If not, looks like it'll be down to Stearman or Mattock, but I don't hold out much hope for Stearman.
shiv Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 What is it with us loaning people to Leeds? De Vries, Kenton and now Shee han. don't forget kish!

Besides what do you define as "success" at Championship level? Stearman or Maybury? Mattock or Nils? Weso or Hughes? Weso or Jarrett? What's the yardstick?
Manager Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Besides what do you define as "success" at Championship level? Eh - isn't playing in the Championship by definition a failure? Depends on your standards - and ours are low unfortunately (Hayles, Clapham et al)

WetFlannel Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 If Shush! couldnt take a free kick, would you seriously have him in your team? I certainly wouldnt... We already have Hume and Clemence who can take a pretty decent free kick, so why would you want him in your team? If theres a reason to have him in the squad other than taking a free kick I'd like to know it. Hope he does well of course...

But as the guy's moved on and this whole subject ruined my golf today, I'd rather think about Blackpool now. No offence I hope.

Erm, my standards aren't too high - how about being able to play at even the worst level in the Championship beyond the age of say 22? We've not had a single player from our academy in the last 10 years who has had a sustained career at even our terrible level at the foot of the Championship? Probably the one who managed it the longest was Heath, who's been in League One since the start of this season? Yes, very successful.
Hullfox Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Just like television - all repeats. Pot and kettle anyone?
Scow Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Pot and kettle anyone? Poor Thrac, he probably doesn't know what day it is, in addition to not realising when his next pension installment is due. Shush! (I'm liking this) has a good left foot, but lacks any other attributes to progress beyond League 1. No Pace - check Can't defend - check Lack of incisive contribution from open play - check Bye then. Take Ankle and Porter with yer.
