Thracian Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 As a left back, surely his main priority, is to defend? Or is that just me? Depends on your footballing philosophy. And seeing we've fielded eight defensive players in a team on various occasions in our fairly recent history, and never once fielded anything like eight atttackers, it is quite clear what our philosophy has been. I don't wish to compare standard just style but look at the likes of Brown and Evra for Manchester United and see where they get to on the field. Not just on set pieces but in open play. United attack as a team and defend as a team and they do so wholeheartedly. Even Ferdinand attacks and look how fast the goalkeeper releases the ball to his defenders who forever make themselves available. If our goalkeepers throw a couple of balls out to defenders in a game it's an exception.

Manchester United indeed, not comparing, you clearly are!
Fox You Forest Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 He has gone just like Vera Duckworth were all just going to have to get over it.

As a left-full back Shush!'s main target is/would be to defend the winger. Then, support his winger in attack. Shush! isn't quick enough to be considered as an attacker. Take Bristol City away this season, perfect chance to counter, what does Shush! do? Turns back. Instead being able to set us on a quick break. Mattock always has a run at full backs when he gets the chance to, much more than Shush! does, or ever did.

He's gone, hopefully for good, not because he wouldn't do as a squad player at this level, but hopefully because I wont have to log in here to see his name up in lights every day.
Bert Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Tbh, i think he's played his last game for the club.

Daggers Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Tbh, i think he's played his last game for the club. I agree - And anyone that says it isn't is stupid or mad. The boy is out of contract (effectively) and we have delivered a clear statement that he does not play a part in our present. So, good luck Sheepyhan and adios.
Manager Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Tbh, i think he's played his last game for the club. I agree - pity we can't say the same about Comical Ollie - can anyone seriously see him making an impact against real managers? A clash of personalities with a gifted 21-year old - and he lets him go to an ambitious club - well done - you plonker. Ollie will never take us to the Premier League - ever - but he will amuse us with stupidity occasionally - he is out of his depth. Hayles - Clapham - Howard - Laczko - Bori - inspiring signings! - Alex Ferguson is seriously worried tonight - Alnwick is a good signing - oh - on loan. Come on Leicester - we are a better club than many of the Premier League - lets get a leader. The whiskey is good tonight - and the transfer window is like Ollies pea brain - CLOSED.

The forum won't like any of that but you're the second person to make the "out of his depth" remark about Ollie in the last fortnight. And if you know your football like the other one, I'll start to feel concerned.

Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I never read Football Rumours any more. Weso and Shush! are always out together with their girlfriends. They're really good mates. They are bound to compare notes. And I wouldn't be surprised if others like King and Gradel start being interested in what's going on.How ironic if Leeds build their team around a few of Leicester's pass-and-move footballers and we end up playing with our imported and much changed miscellany against essentially our old boys. Couldn't happen I'm sure, but it's a funny thought. I wonder what Beaglehole would think. I enjoyed reading this post because i know for a fact that Rudkin didn't rate Shush!, he thought he was arrogant and lazy. He said Mattock was a far better prospect. He said somehting similar about Levi, arrogance and laziness. HaVE you been stalking weso and he who must not be named.
boneman Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I must say I'm a little disappointed, I seem to remember Shush! whipping in quality balls time and time again (refer to assist at Chelsea and against Cardiff earlier on this season). At least its just loan spell...but LEEDS . Not aware of how Clapham goes about his business but hopefully his age and experience will be a pivotal point in our surge up the table
Raj Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Im well confused(AGAIN!) I presume Shush is Shee han!!. But WHY? P.S I couldnt even type his name in without it changing to shush...i had to do it 3 times to make sure What s goig on???

It's because those with the power to do such things took offence at someone always bringing Sheehan into every thread.

He said Mattock was a far better prospect. He said somehting similar about Levi, arrogance and laziness. HaVE you been stalking weso and he who must not be named. Rudkin would, I'm sure, speak for himself. However, if you rid football of arrogance the clubs will be deserted and what you say about laziness is simply a style that's not headless chicken and actually equates to class on occasions. In his final match against Stoke Reserves I don't think I've ever seen a left-back touch the ball more times in one game or be involved in more situations.
The People's Hero Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Good riddance. Couldn't defend. No good to anyone as a left back. I'd rather have Clapham or Mattock there any idea. Shee han is a liability and Leeds are welcome to him.
Dr The Singh Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I can only read the worst for Shush!, yet there are alot of positives for him, he will get more of a chance of regualr footy, more experience and Leeds are on the up, so if he performs well, he may get into the city side or he may land a perm deal at leeds who will most likely joins us in the champ next season!!!
Master Fox Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I wish people would stop telling me to Shush!.
